All credit goes to Calvin Lo for these pictures he took at the recent ACGHK 2017 (Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong 2017). Featured are 1/6th scale figures by Pew Pew Gun and Dark Crown Toys. The vampire-like figure by Dark Crown Toys is downright creepy (see pics below). Not sure if these figures will come to the Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC) 2017 but they are worth a look anyway.

Seen@STGCC2016 Part 3: Other 1/6th scale figures - Hulk Hogan, SPEED Keanu Reeves, Tom Cruise Last Samurai and others
continued from previous toy blog post...
Besides Hot Toys (see my part 1 post HERE) and XM Studios (previous post), there were other exhibitors as well at the just concluded Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC) 2016 which was held at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre at Marina Bay Sands, Level B2, Halls E & F from 10 to 11 September. These are some of the pictures I've taken of the other figures on display. I didn't take photos of every figure as some companies like Dam Toys basically showed all the figures they have already produced and released, and nothing new on display, not even their convention exclusive figure previewed earlier HERE.
This Hulk Hogan figure certainly caught my attention. It's Storm Collectibles 1/4th scale Hulkamania statue and it looks pretty awesome. Hulk Hogan is an American professional wrestler who enjoyed mainstream popularity in the 1980s and 1990s in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) as Hulk Hogan. IGN described Hogan as "the most recognized wrestling star worldwide and the most popular wrestler of the 1980s". Storm Collectibles also showed off their 1/6th scale Hulk Hogan 12-inch collectible figure as well as Mike Tyson and Ong-Bak (see pictures below). Other figures seen include 1/6th scale Keanu Reeves as Officer Jack Traven from the 1994 American action thriller film "Speed" and Tom Cruise as Captain Nathan Algren from the 2003 American epic historical war film "The Last Samurai".

Seen@STGCC2016 Part 2: XM Studios Booth - X-Men, Catwoman, Witchblade, Punisher, Ghost Rider, Iron Fist, Beta Ray Bill, Moon Knight
continued from previous toy blog post...
One of the things I look forward to every year when it comes to the Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC) 2016 - now at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre at Marina Bay Sands, Level B2, Halls E & F - is the display of statues by XM Studios. XM Studios is Singapore's very own producer of limited edition premium statue collectibles and IMHO they produce one of the best statues I've ever seen. I still prefer 1/6th scale figures over statues because 1/6th scale figures come with articulation which makes them pose-able in many ways you can imagine plus they are outfitted with highly detailed costumes / uniforms, and intricately crafted weapons as well as accessories. You can pose many 1/6th scale figures together to form a scene or picture and then change their formation so that they can look different and be doing something else in the next instant. That is the flexibility and the range you can get from 1/6th scale figures.
A statue, on the other hand, is a sculpture and once cast, is fixed in that state or stance forever. They are usually quite large and takes up quite a bit of space. They are also a lot more expensive than 1/6th scale figures meaning I can get more figures for one statue and still have space. However, a statue if done right, can be something that is quite awesome to behold and stunning in its majesty due to its size. Such is the XM Studios X-Men vs Sentinel diorama series shown at STGCC 2016. So much power and poise exhibited at the same time with the intensity so thick you can cut it with a butter knife. The Sentinel may be huge but the X-Men attack as a team from all sides to take it down. This beautiful piece of sculpture just took my breath away and I had to pick my jaw off the floor before I could take any pictures LOL Besides this jaw-dropping statue on display, a few other statues really stood out for me and if I had the money, I would've splurged on them all. That's how much XM Studios managed to convert me from a 1/6th guy to a XM Studios statue lover BUT lack of funds held me back. Still, I'm most grateful for the opportunity to view these masterpieces in person and that I have these pictures to remember them by.

Seen@STGCC2016 Part 1: Hot Toys Booth - Star Wars, Avengers, Daredevil, Batman v Superman, Back to the Future II and Alien
The Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC) 2016 is on now at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre at Marina Bay Sands, Level B2, Halls E & F from 10 to 11 September. And as is my custom, I was there bright and early to take pictures of the figures and stuff on display to blog about it on my toy blog. I am blessed with the privilege to be able to take pictures while the crowd is still not yet in the halls so that there won't be too many distracting people or reflections around the displays.
There are two main booths I always head for once I am in and that is the Hot Toys booth and the XM Studio booth (see the NEXT post) because these usually are the two biggest exhibitors at The Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC). Most of Hot Toys exhibits have already been shown at other earlier conventions, most notable the San Diego Comic-Con but it's still nice to see the actual product and be able to take pictures of it. XM Studios is Singapore's very own producer of limited edition premium statue collectibles and IMHO they produce one of the best statues I've ever seen. Almost all their statues are works of art and they endeavour to create only the most outstanding original designs of exquisite value. Being a local boy, I can only say with pride that they certainly deserve all the accolades and worldwide attention they are getting because a lot of hard work and dedication got them where they are today :)

And there's no denying the head sculpt bears a strong resemblance to David Carradine (born John Arthur Carradine; December 8, 1936 – June 3, 2009), an American actor best known for his leading role as a peace-loving Shaolin monk, Kwai Chang Caine, in the 1970s television series Kung Fu. The show, which took place in the Old West, helped to popularize the martial arts and Eastern philosophy in the west, and immortalized the character of Kwai Chang Caine, also referred to as "Grasshopper", in popular culture. Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC) 2015 has come and gone. It's been a week since the show opened last Saturday and ended on Sunday after two full days of show and tell. Seen@STGCC2015 Part 6: Other Star Wars and artists' created one-of-a-kind toys (cute & weird)
continued from previous post...
Besides the Hot Toys booth at this year's Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC) 2015 - see my toy blog posts HERE and HERE, other manufacturers were also showing off their statues (pictures HERE) and action figures (posted HERE and HERE), including exclusives at the convention. And then there's the Artists' Alley where you find other individuals showing and selling their custom created Urban Vinyl Action Figures / toys, collectibles and memorabilia. I couldn't cover everything from the show but the pictures posted here are the ones that caught my eye.

The Star Wars' presence was strong at STGCC 2015. Besides Hot Toys, smaller companies were selling Star Wars related toys. This particular Boba Fett sipping on bubble tea (a Taiwanese tea-based drink invented in Taichung in the 1980s and made popular here) by Luke Chueh of Flabslab Presents certainly stopped me in my tracks. Looks pretty cool to me.

Seen@STGCC2015 Part 5: Glitch Network Bone Head TestSubject, LimeBones and GodComplex
continued from previous post...
Besides the other 1:6 scale figures featured at STGCC 2015 (shown in my previous toy blog post HERE), I found myself attracted to the display put up by Glitch Network.
Glitch Network has taken over where Foxbox Studios left off. Foxbox Studio came up with the concept of GodComplex and the premise that the Greek gods still exist and rule the world. In that vein, they created a whole world of Greek gods dressed to the nines in business suits operating in a modern world. And most recently GodComplex landed right at the heart of Singapore at this year's Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC) 2015. More of GodComplex later in this toy blog post.

I want to bring your attention to the particular 12-inch figure posted. This is Glitch Network's Sixth Vision BoneHead Test Subject 56 1/6th scale collectible figure which comes with Authentic Test Subject 56 figure in 1/6th scale, 3 (three) pairs of interchangeable hands, custom Baseball bat with hidden blade (Die-cast), Mech Slayer and A5 size limited print. I quite like the overall look and feel.

Seen@STGCC2015 Part 4: Other 1:6 scale action figures - John Constantine, Death Race, Frankenstein, Hulk Hogan, Custom Iron Man

Besides the 1:6 scale figures displayed at Hot Toys booth at this year's Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC) 2015 which were mostly Star Wars movie characters both old and new as well as The Avengers - posted earlier on my toy blog HERE and HERE, other manufacturers also brought their 12-inch figures to showcase at the convention. There's a 1:6 scale Keanu Reeves as John Constantine figure from the 2005 movie of the same name, 12-inch Jason Statham as Jensen Ames from 2008's Death Race, Frankenstein's Monster and Hulk Hogan, one of the famous American professional wrestler of all time.
ACI showcased their 1:6 scale Roman Republic Centurion Lucius and Roman Reoublic Legionary Titus XIII Gemina, Dam Toys brought their STGCC2015 Exclusive: Dam Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6th Spade 2 Nelson (Special Project) figure, DID showed off their British 22nd SAS B-Squadron Black Ops Team Leader and Imperial Studios Reeve Tan gave us a sample of more of his custom work. Seen@STGCC2015 Part 3: Marvel Statues by XM Studios & Imaginarium - Inhumans, Avengers
continued from previous post...
I don't collect many statues because they are usually very expensive (I can't afford them) and rather large in size (no space). I much prefer 1:6 scale pose-able action figures with their articulation plus fabric costumes and uniforms with their highly detailed gear, accessories and weapons. Almost everything is detachable and can be examined up close or put to use with another 12-inch figure. Statues are usually cast in stone and are one molded pained piece without the realism of the fabric and mix of textures 1:6 scale figures have. Having said this, I do admire statues for their dynamic power poses and the artists who design them as well as the craftsman who sculpt and paint them. Some of the most impressive statues I've seen lately are produced by home grown company XM Studios, producer of limited edition premium statue collectibles. I was blown away by their statues at last year's STGCC (see my toy blog post HERE) and was eager to see what they were bringing and showcasing at this year's Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC) 2015.

I certainly wasn't disappointed :) XM Studios brought Phoenix from the X-Men, Daredevil and Elektra as well as Medusa and Black Bolt from the Inhumans to this year's show, along with the usual suspects such as The Avengers (Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Captain America) with villains Loki and Red Skull among others.

Seen@STGCC2015 Part 2: Hot Toys Booth – Ant-Man, The Avengers, Iron Man, Batman etc
continued from previous post...
It's that time of the year again! Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC) 2015 is upon us and it is being held at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Marina Bay Sands Halls B & C on level 1 on 12 & 13 September from 10am to 9pm (closes at 8pm on 13 Sep). There are lots of things to see and many exclusives to buy so if you are a true blue toy collector or are just into collectibles (statues included), then you have to head down and enjoy the sights. It's really quite Marvel-ous to behold with many wonderful things on display.
In this second toy blog post covering the Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC) 2015, let's look at the other Hot Toys action figures on display at their booth besides the Star Wars movie characters which I've already blogged about earlier HERE.

There's the rather large Ant-Man statue on display with light-up lens on his helmet and belt buckle. Beside the statue is the display of the Hot Toys 1:6 scale Ant-Man and Yellow Jacket action figures along with their miniaturized versions from the recent Ant-Man film by Marvel Studios.
Besides Ant-Man, there are also The Avengers, Iron Man, new Marty McFly, Batman, Terminator, Resident Evil figures and a rather strange looking Hot Angel (Alien Girl) from AVP. Scroll down to see the rest of the pictures. Click on them for bigger and better views.
