ἔπειθ̓, ‘and secondly.’

οὐ παρανόμως οὐδ᾽ ἀλλοτρίαν, ‘not by lawlessness and usurpation’ (F.). For this coupling together of an adverb and an adjective see note on E. 37 καὶ πλεῖστοι καὶ μάλιστα.

ὁσίως καὶ δικαίως: the same phrase occurs in E. 26 ὁσίως καὶ δικαίως λαβεῖν τὴν ἀρχήν.
