I don't think any single ReAction figure I've seen so far exemplifies the potential of the line more than this Scorpina. For a character who I personally feel has the most interesting and unique design of the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers show, she has has shockingly little merchandise produced. And despite her recently getting a nearly perfect Lightning Collection figure last year, I think this small retro-styled figure from Super7 is my favorite. Her complex asymmetrical organic costume somehow works extremely well with a simple 5-point body construction and the mix of flat colors and metallics really pops. When I look back to one of my first ReAction purchases, the MOTU Sorceress, (irregular sculpting, bad paint, awkward posture) and it's hard to believe these are from the same line. Most of the modern figures are great, but have simplistic designs by nature (G.I. Joe, ThunderCats, etc) so I focus on Scorpina as an example of how Super7 handles complexity. And they kill it. Let's check her out below!

Power Rangers - SCORPINA!
Scorpina has always been my favorite Mighty Morphin Power Rangers villain. There is a big trend among Super Sentai villains to have insectile-themed characters, and Scorpina was my first exposure to that aesthetic. Sure, Rita Repulsa got the lion's share of screen time, but her big gown-like robes limited her action appeal and made her less interesting in my eyes. Scorpina, however, was always suited up for battle with an interesting asymmetrical armor and legs freed for battle. When I started collecting Super Sentai figures about 15 years ago, I was surprised Scorpina and Rita didn't have action figures. Even the Japanese lines were void of villainesses. But slowly around 2010 there started to be a MMPR Renaissance and I knew we'd see these ladies in action figure form eventually. But aside from a 2017 Imaginext figure, this Lightning Collection Scorpina is the first true action figure of the character. She is a long time coming and spectacular. Let's check her out below!

An Assortment of Non-DC Comics IMAGINEXT!
Imaginext - Toy Story, Minions, Power Rangers - Fisher-Price/Mattel 2019-2020
While the DC Super Friends Imaginext gets the lion's share of attention in the preschool aisles and toy forums, the figures from the other lines are nothing to turn your nose up at. I tend to let a bunch of Imaginext figures build up and photograph them in a group. In this post I have a few characters from Disney's Toy Story 4, Illumination's Minions: The Rise of Gru, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and two unbranded Fisher-Price lines... all released over the past few years. I'm always excited to see what surprises will come down the line. There are always new themes and blind bag series in the works and I think there's a very good chance of Masters of the Universe line in the near future (It's been hinted at by Mattel and they recently announced an MOTU Little People set). Plus I would love another Adventure People homage in the form of the X-Ray Woman. The X-Ray Man from a few years ago is lonely! Let's check out this recent collection of Imaginext ladies below!

The Evil Horde's SCORPIA!
Masters of the Universe Classics - Scorpia - Mattel/Mattycollector 2014
With the release of Scorpia earlier this month, my core Horde team is complete. Sure, we'll get Entrapta and Double Trouble soon enough, but Scorpia, Catra, Octavia, and Shadow Weaver were always the main ladies of the Horde in my eyes. When we got the first Adora figure back in 2010, I never would have dreamed we'd see all these characters in the line. Mattel really made us wait for Scorpia. Considering she appeared in 15 episodes, it's shocking that we didn't get her sooner. (It's almost as shocking as how excruciatingly long it took her to get to my door after ordering her 2 weeks ago). Scorpia is worth the wait though. She's almost perfectly executed. The crotch concerns you may be reading all over the internet are indeed valid. It looks as if she's wearing a giant black diaper. But honestly, I'm so in love with every other detail of this figure that I can shrug it off. I will gladly take Scorpia's minor wardrobe issues over the bulky chestpiece problems the recent male figures have been suffering through. It's all a matter of perspective. Let's check out your favorite evil arthropod in detail below!
