Star Wars Quilt-in-a-Day

You're going to love this simple Star Wars Quilt-in-a-Day Pattern.  Don't feel limited to Star Wars though...this is a great pattern for any theme.  We'll use easy strip-piecing so that you could put this whole quilt together in a day, start to finish.  Thanks to Fairfield World for their continued support of my creativity and for their help bringing you this pattern.  They provided me with batting and have compensated me for this post.  All thoughts, opinions, patterns, ideas, and enthusiasm are 100% my own.

My daughter is a Fan Girl to the core in several fandoms, but one of her newest loves is Star Wars.  She's been asking for a Star Wars quilt for a while, so she was happy to get this one.

But it's also perfect for your favorite Storm Trooper to lounge on while reading a good book.

Giant Quilted Book Cushion Tutorial - Lesson 2 of 2

We made these awesome giant book cushions for the reading corner in our elementary school library.

A huge thank you to Fairfield for making these cushions possible.  They provided me with the foam and batting and compensated me for writing this post.  All opinions and ideas are my own.

The kids love them, and I hope they get the elementary kids excited about science and exploring more non-fiction books.

Giant Quilted Book Cushion Tutorial - Lesson 1 of 2

These quilted book cushions are the perfect addition to a reading nook, classroom, or library.  In this lesson and the second lesson, I'll be teaching you how to make your own and also provide you with the printable covers and spine labels to be printed onto fabric.  (And a huge thank you to Fairfield for providing the foam and batting for the project and compensating me for writing this post, making this project for our school library possible.  All opinions and ideas in this post are my own.)

The covers velcro on to the base, so that they are easily removable for washing...because anything you plan to have kids regularly use, needs to be washable.

A while ago, a friend sent me a link to some small book pillows.  I knew immediately that I wanted to make a much larger cushion size version for our school library.  I'd been thinking about using popular children's book fabric like Dr. Seuss, Eric Carle, but hadn't come up with how I wanted the cover to look.  Then the inspiration came to make them non-fiction books, and I knew it was time to make the idea a reality.

And not to toot my own horn too much...but I really REALLY REALLY love how these turned out.

I Love You to the Moon and Back Pillow Tutorial - Valentine's for Boys

Valentine's gifts and decorations can be tricky for boys.  Even  though I know several self-assured boys who LOVE pink and hearts, lots of boys shy away from them.

And honestly, my favorite Valentine's gifts are ones that can last all year.  (If you agree, you might want to check out some of these other off-beat Valentine's projects I've done through the years.)

It's important for our boys to feel loved too and be told we love them...And what better way than with an "I Love You to the Moon and Back" Pillow.
