Cosplay Quality Harry Potter Wizard Robe with Cuddle Suede

This Harry Potter Cosplay Robe will be much more than just a Halloween Costume.  The luxurious Cuddle Suede fabrics make it feel "real" instead of just for dress up.  (Disclaimer:  Shannon Fabrics sent me this amazing fabric for free, but all opinions, idea, and enthusiasm are entirely my own.

In this case, I made a robe for my little Ravenclaw.  It features Cuddle® Suede Black for the outer robe and lined the hood and sleeves with Cuddle® Suede Navy for the perfect Ravenclaw look.

Warm enough to keep the chill out on Halloween and with an authentic drape that makes it great for wearing to your local ComicCon.

You can check out my details for where to get the pattern and how we modified it to make the Cosplay Harry Potter Robe on Sewciety, the Shannon Fabrics blog.

Strawberry Kiss Shopkins Costume and Trick-or-Treat Bag

After much deliberation this year, Rebecca finally decided she wanted to dress up as a Shopkin for Halloween, and she fell in love with this Shopkin Strawberry Kiss Costume from Oriental Trading Company.  (Disclaimer:  Oriental Trading Company and Fairfield World provided me with free products to try and Fairfield World compensated me for this post.  However all thoughts, ideas, opinions, and enthusiasm are 100% my own.)  Besides Strawberry Kiss they also offer a Cupcake Queen costume.   Oriental Trading Company is definitely Halloween Headquarters with LOTS of other fun Halloween Costumes to choose from.

The Strawberry Kiss costume is wonderful on it's own, but we added a green T-shirt and red polka dot leggings underneath for added warm and comfort for wearing to school.  We also needed to make a few of our own accessories, including this super early Trick-or-Treating bag.  The sparkly red polka dots in the dress immediately made me think of the red metallic Oly-Fun™ and the bag only took about 20 minutes to make.  I've sided the bag to hold plenty of Halloween goodies to make your child happy...but small enough to fill up without TOO much trick-or-treating.  You can size up or down according to your needs.

Here's what you'll need to make your own:
1/2 Yard Metallic Red Oly-Fun ™
Scissors or Rotary Cutter and ruler
Sewing machine, thread, and related supplies.
Scraps of white, yellow and green oly-fun for the embellishiments (or purchase an Oly-Fun Variety Pack.)
Low-Temp Glue Gun and Glue
Double sided tape OR pins

Rey Costume in 10 Minutes - Last Minute Star Wars Costume

This Rey Skywalker costume is SO easy to put together.  You'll be done in less than 10 minutes with some Oly-Fun™ craft material and a few wardrobe staples, and NO sewing involved.  With Star Wars The Force Awakens so popular this year, this costume is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.  And a big thanks to Fairfield World for supporting my blog by providing me with materials and compensating me for this post.  All thoughts, ideas, opinions, and enthusiasm are all my own.  This post contains affiliate links.

Need a Jedi costume to go with your Rey Costume?  You can find my instructions for how to make one in under 30 minutes on the Fairfield site here.  Jedi Costume with Oly-Fun in Under 30 minutes.

Now accessories often make-or-break the costume, so you'll want to check out how to make Rey's staff here.  (It will take a bit more than 10 minutes because you'll need to let the spray paint dry.)
Here's what you'll need to make a child's Rey Costume:

DIY Astronaut Boots with Aluminor - Silver Moon Boots

Need some cool silver moon boots to go with your astronaut costume?  We've got you covered.  These are easy to make. Note: This post contains affiliate links.

Our boys have an outerspace themed room and my youngest says he wants to be an astronaut when he grows up...so when we saw astronaut costumes as Costco we couldn't resist.  (This is a similar astronaut costume on Amazon.) The costume didn't come with any kind of footwear though, so we thought we'd make our own Astronaut boots.

All you need is some Aluminor ™ cushioned material, some old snow boots, and a glue gun and in less than half an hour, you'll have your own cool silver moon boots.

You can get my full tutorial with step-by-step photos on the Fairfield World site here.

Monster Pillows - Halloween Pillows - at See Vanessa Craft

I'm excited to be taking part in #30CraftyDaysOfHalloween over at See Vanessa Craft.  I decided to use these fun Furry Monster Pillows  as my contribution.  They're SO fast and easy.

I'd only planned to make a couple of pillows, but when my kids saw them, they each insisted that they needed their own.

The faux fur from Shannon Fabrics was so much fun to work with and comes in so many fun colors and textures.  (I used Golden Wolf FurPurple Monkey Shag FurOrange Candy Shag Fur, and Embossed Chevron Cuddle® in Jade, all from Shannon Fabrics.)  Then adding a little Poly-Fil® from Fairfield World and giant animal eyes and you're all set.

Get all the details and step-by-step photos over at See Vanessa Craft.

DIY Monster Book of Monsters - Giant Cushion - No-Sew

We've been listening to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on repeat here lately.  (It's a favorite of ours...so many plot twists and it's still one of the "children's books" before the darker stuff in the later novels.  I thought it would be fun to make something to help one of our favorites come alive as we're counting down to Harry Potter's birthday with Rae Gun Ramblings Happy Harry Potter series.  (Thanks to Fairfield World for supporting my Harry Potter fandom addiction by providing the foam and compensating me for this post, and thanks also to Shannon Fabrics for providing the faux fur.  All ideas and opinions are 100% my own.  This post may also contain affiliate links.)

So of course we wanted to make our own version of the Monster Book of Monsters.  We went for a giant and cuddly reading companion version.  (Have you seen the new illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Scorcer's Stone?  Completely gorgeous illustrations.  We've already pre-ordered our Illustrated copy of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets coming out in October...because you know two sets of all the books isn't enough for one house.)

I really couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

Reversible Spider-Web Quilt - Halloween Quilt

I know there's not time until Halloween, but I just couldn't resist squeezing in one more Halloween quilt.

I loved my Spider Web Pillows so much that I just HAD to try making a quilt.  Plus we needed a little more orange in the living room.

And I have to say that I especially love how the quilt looks when Aragog is inhabiting the web.

You can get the full details for how to make the Reversible Spider Web Quilt on the Fairfield Website.
