Katy Kung and Patrick Tang sparked love after shooting TVB series 7 Days In Life in 2010. Due to their 16 year age gap, not many supported them being together, but the couple were still very much in love. Earlier it was rumored Patrick bought a car for his girlfriend. Unfortunately, it turns out the two have already broken up. Yesterday morning, Katy said on Weibo: "Lately there has been a lot of reporters writing about how sweet my love life is, and I want to say thank you. There are a lot of things to experience in life. After the love ends, using a different way of getting along with someone would be even better... I will put even greater effort into my work from now on."

In a phone interview, Katy admitted she and Patrick have indeed broken up, she said: "We've split up some time ago, as to how long ago, I don't want to say. I just wanted to wait for the right time before I say anything. (What was the reason for the break up?) Incompatible personalities, we don't match, but we still have a good relationship. (A new love interest?) This has nothing to do with a third party. I don't have a new partner now, wait it out first. I can't just start a new relationship that easily." She stressed she and Patrick did not cohabit while they were dating, but after the break up, she moved to a place closer to TVB. Katy expressed she is currently working with Patrick on new series Record of the Fifth Day Opening, but they only have one scene together. She said there is no awkwardness when they meet.

As for Patrick, perhaps he still hasn't recovered from the break up since reporters have not been able to contact him. Last month, on the 20th, he uploaded a picture of himself on Weibo and wrote: "I had enough...who will be able to accept... I'm tired and there's no way to escape." Wonder if he was implying that he's back to being single. On August 10th, it was the last time Patrick interacted with Katy on Weibo, he said to her: "What is love? Do you need it? Are you happy?" It appears his comment has a meaning beyond the words.

Patrick Tang was hand-picked and appreciated by TVB former general manager Stephen Chan. However, this has also become the target of public criticism. Under the press' pen, most of the reports were negative. In fact, he didn't completely rely on Stephen and has put in a lot of effort in himself. Looking at his performance in the musical Waiting For the Match (獨坐婚姻介紹所), talent can be seen in Patrick. On stage, he had an effortless performance and many people on Weibo praised him. Just a few words by others, it could have not been expected that he saved them all up and even took his collection out to show us. He said, if one day, he has doubts on his own abilities, then he will take them out to look at. This is a form of encouragement. He has always told himself, no matter what happens, must continuously be thankful and never complain.

Gradually Advance, No Matter What

Regarding to the negative news, Patrick feels extremely helpless and as an artist, he very much has the 'Ah Q' spirit: "Mr. Chan is indeed my 'Pak Lok' (someone who sees talent in a person). He has taught me a lot, but I really cannot control how other people write about me."

In 1996, Patrick particiated in the New Talent Singing Contest and ended in sixth place at the finals. That year, Denise Ho was the winner and he was in last place. However, he was still able to sign a TVB artist contract and got appreciation by producer Siu Wai Hung. He first started with children shows, then travel shows and then in a popular sitcom War of Genders. TVB then changed his regular artist contract to a management contract. Coincidentally as luck has it, Paco Wong helped him release a music album, he then started singing and had a few representive works. He also got himself a girlfriend then. In the film Truth or Dare (六樓后座), his performance was praised by Sandra Ng. At the time, everything went smoothly for him.

Those years, Patrick did not dare to go wrong, and planned his every step. "I am a person who is hard to get along with, but people still attack me after all, making my image turn bad. Of course I was unhappy, I felt so autistic, but I could only tell myself to do better."

In TVB gameshow Foodie 2 Shoes,, Patrick was heavily criticized. Netizens were scolding him and attacking him. In 2008, Hins Cheung asked him to be the guest performer at his HK Coliseum concert: "At the time, I had criticial emotions and lacked self-confidence. I was afraid people would boo me. There was a moment where I really didn't dare to go on stage. I reluctantly walked on stage and results, I wasn't faced with the sounds of boo's, but instead applause from the entire venue. I was extremely thankful." Then no matter what opportunities TVB gave him, even if it's just a few episodes in a series, he would try his best to develop the roles as much as possible. "I never die, I never cry".

The Communication With Her

Patrick's career hasn't had a breakthrough yet, but in his love life, he has exceptionally good luck. The girlfriends come and go, and finally he found himself a girlfriend he really loves. However, he disagreed with what the reporter said: "If there really is good luck in love, then I didn't have to date so many times! Each time I'm with a new girlfriend, the relationship has to start from the beginning and will have to accept new challenges all over again." He dated 'atomic bomb' for 4 years, he was with Selena for 4 years and due to understanding issues, they broke up. "No matter what reason it is, I still did not feel good and unhappy. Breakups causes damage."

He and Katy Kung has been dating for nearly 2 years. 38 year old Patrick hopes to see a future in this relationship. In his heart, he already sees Katy as his girl. "She's a very filial and obedient girl. She's 16 years younger than me, sometimes she may have childish behavior, so I often try to do my best, so she can believe what I say is the truth and I could set a good example for her."

A 22 year old girl often likes to play and party with friends. "We have something in common, that is we both like to be at home." On the surface, Katy may seem easy-going and just listens to her boyfriend, but in some areas, she can be quite mature and can give Patrick good advice. Patrick has a lot of life experiences, "have to be able to get along with a matured 22 year old girl."

The Greatest Encouragement From Her

The area that people praise Katy most about is that she does not look for a wealthy boyfriend. Instead, she looks at the man's ability and his sense of responsibility. Patrick strived for so many years and finally he's able to buy a comfortable home. Each month he has to pay mortgage, support his family and looking around the house, everything he owns is a return for all his hard work. He doesn't rely on his parents, and Katy sees this in him and often says to Patrick: "I just feel your so smart! Baby." Just those simple words is already the greatest encouragement a woman can give a man. This also expresses her most mature side. She knows her blessings and won't ask for more. She won't compare Patrick with other men.

"I definitely will not disappoint her. I hope our relationship won't change. Whatever our future is like, no one can say, but having her support, I am very happy. In fact, a relationship is like rowing a boat. When your tired, its my turn to row and when I'm tired, your turn to row. We're both rowing towards the same place, even if we encounter a heavy storm and the boat flips, we will get back up and keep on going. As our boat doesn't have a motor, we have to row it with our own hands, that proves she is willing to row the boat with me together."

Last year was considered a prosperous year for Katy Kung. The line up of her series released one after the other and her sitcom was basically on TV every night. Following her performance in Bottled Passion as the rebellious young girl Ko Yi Nga, her popularity was on the rise. Recently in Gloves Come Off, Katy continues her fate with Raymond Wong once again and plays the 'wu lei jing' third party, who breaks families up. She's even worst this time compared to Bottled Passion.

Big eyes, small face and speaks sweetly, Katy Kung gives off the girl next door feeling. No wonder every time she's in a series, she often plays someone's little sister. Katy expressed: "I don't mind playing a little girl, because quite honestly I want to try every type of role. In fact, I should be happy that I'm still young enough to play those type of roles."

Modern version 'Bottled Passion'

Since last year's Bottled Passion, she played the childish and rebellious young girl, fighting with her sister (Elaine Yiu) for a guy (Raymond Wong). Her role was an eye-opener for audience. Recently in Gloves Come Off, she gets so bad that she goes around stealing husbands and plays with schemes to harm others. "Gloves Come Off is the most intense series I've done since my debut. I'm a 'wu lei jing' that steals husbands and I'm much worst than in Bottled Passion. Last time, I was just childish, but this time I use schemes to go harm people. I had some intense scenes, such as falling down the stairs and getting hit by a car."

Katy reveals in Gloves Come Off, she gave away her first on-screen kiss: "I had a kiss scene with Raymond Wong, that was my first on-screen kiss. Both of us continued on from Bottled Passion, so it was fortunate that we were familar. We had a comfortable collaboration."

Although Katy was already prepared to get scolded and hated by audience when the series comes out, but she was still excited. "It doesn't matter, I will try every type of role. If I don't try, I don't know if I can do it or not."

Don't want to be Charmaine Sheh

In series, no matter how rebellious or evil Katy gets, we all will still think its just the behaviors of a childish young girl. However, off-cameras, Katy denies she's a little girl: "I have planning when doing things. Even in everyday life, I would think of what time I should be leaving the door? What time I should do what? Actually, I haven't thought about my direction in this industry, haha!"

Katy claims she is passive and understands that many things cannot be forced. Being promoted? She really doesn't even want to think about it. "I really haven't thought about what position I want to be promoted to. I am already doing well because in every series, I'm the youngest. I get a lot of love from others, I've gained that happiness. I never thought about becoming a Charmaine Sheh or Sheren Tang."

As far as awards, last year she was nominated for 'Most Improved Actress', but eventually lost to Sire Ma. Katy expressed: "In the future, of course I hope to get this award. It is considered a comfort that I can give to my family. Since youth, I had too much freedom, my family is too laid back. They let me try whatever I want to, and because of this, everything I do, it is just a 'three minute passion'. So, I hope to let them know that I am not playing here. I really am working hard." When speaking of her future prospects, Katy really have instantly matured a lot, "Since I started working, each month I insist on saving half of my salary. I really like to save money, and don't know how to invest. Perhaps I can open a dessert shop in the future, but right now I cannot think too much. Maybe when I turn 30, it's still not too late."

High Profile Underground Relationship

As for her relationships, everyone knows Katy is Patrick Tang's girlfriend. Even at last year's TVB anniversary, when Patrick won the raffle, the MC pulled Katy out to cheer for him, but it turns out the young couple still hope to go underground. "I never thought about it! I have never said he's my boyfriend, haha! Even if you ask him, he won't admit it."

What? How can that be? Is it because all this is pressure from TVB? Katy denied: "TVB didn't say anything, just asked me how our relationship is going? Have enough understanding yet? Everyone treats me like a little girl. Actually, there is one thing I decided and I won't regret it. Not just my relationship I won't talk about, other things are the same. I've been like that since youth."

In the last two years, Katy's career development has been going smoothly and it will be difficult for her to avoid comparsion of her future prospects to Patrick's future prospects, "It's not because he's bad, just he hasn't found a record company yet, but he has been shooting series and musicals all along. He still has friends that compose music for him and people can't see these things. I think he's very hard working. A person that sincerely puts in the effort should have pretty good results." As for their future? Katy expressed: "Wah! No one knows the future. At this moment, I will not be getting married. That is just too far from now!" The bottom line is, "career is the priority"!

Since 22 year old Katy Kung's debut, she primarily played young and pure roles due to her youthful appearance. Recently, Katy has switched to another type in order to challenge her acting skills. Following Bottled Passion, she has scenes opposite of Raymond Wong once again in the current new series Gloves Come Off. She plays a young third party who steals and seduces Natalie Tong's husband, played by Raymond!

Katy's profound acting has made viewers cringe with anger. She said: "I have never tried these types of characters before. This time, I'm very busy with my role, after messing with Raymond Wong, I go mess with Kenny Wong. One time after Nancy Wu watch a clip of me in the series, she told me my performance really made her hate me!" To be able to get a dislikable image, Katy laughed and said her performance is considered a 'success'.

To do seductive scenes, of course there won't be a lack of enticing scenes. In one scene, Katy and Raymond gets drunk and ends up sleeping together. The two had an intense kiss and bed scene. Katy frankly expressed it was awkward, but fortunately 'senior' Raymond brought her into character, leading to a smooth shoot. As for Kenny Wong, he told her to have courage and shoot the scene, she said: "He felt I was very scared, and told me have more courage. He even asked me to take my hand out, so I could take his clothes off!" Currently, she is busy shooting new series Beauty at War with Ada Choi, Christine Ng and Sheren Tang. They have been getting along very well, and often hang out together behind the scenes. Katy expressed she is excited to go to Hengdian with them for shooting. When the time comes, they will probably get really loud!
