Loving Laundry (Rooms)

I am one of the few people I know who like doing laundry. Sure, there are the days where I may forget to take it out (and/or put it in), but the folding and putting away part isn't bad at all. (My real secret is to make sure Hubs has less undies than I do. That way, he does the laundry merely to survive.) Here's the thing I like, though: I get to sit on my behind, mindlessly fold laundry, and feel totally justified in catching up on an episode of The Real Housewives current events. Since I'm folding laundry, it's totally productive TV watching. See what I did there? But, on the flip side, I feel no need to justify watching good, quality entertainment. Plus, wouldn't laundry just be better for everyone in one of these rooms? I think so.

[color kreyv]: Indigo

So, before I bore you all with vacuum talk (more on that later), let's talk indigo. I love the indigo in these spaces, and even though I'm typically not a bold color girl, I can definitely get on board with indigo. I especially love the contrast of the white against the indigo. Simply gorg.

On another note...I need your advice. I need a new vacuum. I'm kind of thinking that the one we got for our wedding 12 years ago is probably ready to go to the vacuum graveyard. It probably wasn't even that awesome in the first place. (Thank goodness we've had wood floors and haven't used it a ton the last eight years!) Anyway, I think it's between Shark and Dyson, and I can't make up my mind. We are able to get a huge discount on a Dyson, so the cost would be comparable, so don't take that into consideration. So, with cost being about the same, which one would you choose: Shark or Dyson, and why do you love it? (Does anyone really love their vacuum?  I really just can't get excited about this purchase...unless it comes with new shoes or new furniture. Or a house.)

Lovely, Lovely Laundry Rooms

Hey! Long time, no see er, blog...whatever...I haven't blogged for awhile. I have been having family time for the last two weeks. Stella and I went and stayed with my mom while Mr. Hubs was studying for his boards--he wasn't all that entertaining, so we hit the road. Then, my brother and sister came in from out of state with their families. We had such a good time, but I. Am. Tired!

In other news, I have a big pile of clean laundry sitting on my floor. It's been there for two days, but whatevs. I'll either fold it, or it will eventually disappear as we use it. Again, whatevs. Speaking of laundry, would you die if you had a laundry room like these? Gorgeous. I don't think I would ever come out. It would be perfect. I would shut myself in for hours. My family would think I was slaving over laundry, when really I would just be watching The Real Housewives in between loads--without judgement. Oh, and of course, it would have to be well stocked with chocolate, Oreos, and other things I like to hide from Stella. I think I need one of these eat and watch what I'm not supposed to in private rooms laundry rooms. You?

A Sure Sign

First of all, let's discuss the fact that these laundry rooms are nicer than my kitchen. I mean really, is that a wine fridge in the second room? I'm not a drinker, but if you're asking, I'd definitely take a soft serve ice cream machine.  Secondly, let's discuss the crappiness (yes, crappiness) of dropping my phone into the washing machine today. Why did I put it in the laundry basket? Why? Oh yeah, because my hands were full of laundry, and I wanted to save my self a trip. Heaven forbid I walk up the stairs twice. Luckily, I had insurance, but still, what a waste of $50 for the replacement phone. I was so upset that I bought a pair of jeans while I was waiting for my appointment at the Apple Store. What a day! I know what you're thinking: This is a sign. I should never do laundry again. I totally agree.

Bins, Baskets, and Containers

Oh, how I love bins, baskets, and containers. I love the way they look, and I love the way they hide dirty, little secrets! I have tons--of bins, baskets, and containers, that is--not dirty, little secrets (sorry to disappoint, I'm just not that exciting). I just don't think you can ever have enough. The hubs and I have differing opinions on this. He thinks we have enough. Clearly, there's no such thing. In fact, I just ordered some great wire baskets. That's what he gets for being on call so much this month. I've got to occupy myself somehow after Stella goes to bed.

Shelving, Shelving, Shelving

If there's no room behind closed doors, leave it out for the world to see (in a nice, pretty way, of course)! Shelving is the ultimate organization tool.  First of all, if anything is going to be on open shelving, you're going to keep it organized.  Second of all, it frees up a TON of cupboard space for things that are not so pretty.  And third of all, it's pretty and practical.  That doesn't always happen.  I say when something is pretty AND practical, you should probably go with it! (Speaking of practical, isn't the image from The Container Store genius? I love that the bottom shelf doubles as a desk!)

Things Are Looking Up

I can barely talk my husband into painting walls. I don't think I could ever talk him into painting the ceilings! I love it--especially the striped ceiling in the nursery. Painting your ceiling is a great way to make a statement without going overboard. I would never paint an entire room purple, but the ceiling...that looks sophisticated and understated. If you do paint a ceiling, make sure the walls are white or really light. Otherwise, the room may look too dark, small, or closed in. That, my friends, would be no good!
