Coziest Lil' Reading Nooks

Ok, I've officially said the word "nook" so many times in my mind that it doesn't even seem like a word. But, I promise, it is. And these, my friends, are some of the most beautiful nooks I've seen in a while. You're never going to believe this, but I wish I had one.

[color kreyv]: Pink

Clearly, we can't get away with calling this plain, old pink, but whether or not the colors below are more of a blush or a salmon is debatable. I really just couldn't decide.  I personally think the first picture has both. Regardless, I think we can all agree on the fact that this color is definitely beautiful, and that I can, indeed, type an entire post with one hand while holding Salem with the other.

Best. Chairs. Ever.

Ok, I can't really prove that these are, in fact, THE best chairs, but, let's be honest...They. Are. A-mazing. Obviously I love a little nailhead trim detail, because, really, we all need a little bit of that in our lives, right? Which one is your fave? I don't like to discriminate, so I would gladly take all three. Actually, make that two of each.

[color kreyv]: Turquoise & Mustard

It was harder than I thought to find some good inspiration pics with mustard and turq (you don't mind if I call it that, do you? Mmmkay, thanks.)In other words, it was hard to find pictures that weren't mustard and turq overkill--we all know I like my color in small doses. This is mostly because of my need to change things every two seconds and my other need of keeping my marriage in tact by not buying and selling things for the house every other day (see story of four couches). But, back to turq and mustard...I really think throwing some white into this color combo really takes it to the next level. I mean, really, who doesn't love a pop of color? What do you think (besides that leather chair is amaze-balls, and you really want one)?

Hanging Chairs

You guys will NEVER believe this. I've decided that there is something else that I HAVE to have: a hanging chair. Remember Stella's imaginary, future, someday, next room? Well, it NEEDS a hanging chair. I mean, really, how awesome would that be? Just check out these lovelies. You want one, don't you?!

Christmas Trees to Go

I absolutely LOVE these lil' things, don't you? There is something so simple and organic about them, and, plus, you can put them almost anywhere.  They are definitely on my wish list for next year.  P.S. Christmas is only one week away.  ONE WEEK AWAY! Are you ready?!

Shopping the House | Five Things You Already Have

Do you kind of hate it when people tell you to shop your house? You're like, "Really? You're telling me I'm going to find some awesome piece of awesomeness that I've forgotten about? Yeah right."  If you're like me, I'm using pretty much everything…no new discoveries, just like there is nothing new in my pantry--regardless of how many times I open and shut it. (Yet, I continue to do it.) I am willing to bet, however, that you have most of these items in your home, so get them out and use them!

1 | Sticks: Yes, I may have a slight obsession with sticks, everyone knows it. The other day, my three year old gifted me a stick, because "Mommy loves sticks." Sticks are cheap…free to be exact, and they add a natural element, height, and texture.

2 | Blankets & Throws: Blankets and throws add a sense of warmth and add texture, color, and print to a space. Whether they're thrown over a chair, sofa, or bed or folded up on a shelf, basket, or piece of furniture--they're an easy addition.

3 | Dishes: Plates, bowls, and other serving pieces are a great way to fill open shelving or other areas in the kitchen or dining room. Stacking items gives a sense of collection and character.

4 | Frames: Creating an eclectic gallery wall is a great way to add personality to a space.  Frames of all different sizes, colors, and textures can come together to make a major statement.

5 | Books & Magazines: Books and magazines are a great way to add interest to a room. Stack books forward, backwards, sideways, or upright. Magazines can be stacked, collected in bowls, baskets, or trays, or even thrown over hangers or ladders.

[color kreyv]: Salmon

Yes, it's CLEARLY salmon; not pink, not peach, salmon. Remember the episode of Friends, aka THE best show of all time, where Ross leaves his shirt at Mona's house? Everyone keeps calling the shirt pink, and Ross corrects them each time by telling them it's actually salmon. That crazy Ross, he knew what he was talking about. Anywho, love the show, love the color.  P.S. I welcome anyone who ever dares challenge me at a game of Friends Scene It.  Just putting that out there.

Not Your Grandma's Gingham

I never, in a million years, would have thought that I would go for gingham. I mean, really...gingham? I don't think I've ever liked it, even when it was "in." But this, this is not your grandma's gingham. This is modern, edgy, and bold. And, I love the idea of the large black gingham (aka buffalo check) in a man cave, which, contrary to popular belief (aka Jeremy's), will be a room completely decorated by me, but in masculine tones.  I love the Hubs, but I'm not crazy enough to let him decorate a room. I'm almost sure it would be adorned with...well, I don't even want to think about it, but I'm pretty positive it wouldn't include gingham.

Mini Me | Mini Furniture (That You Will Die Over.)

There's nothing like having a toddler to point out things you must say all too often. The other day, I was sitting on the couch eating a snack.  Stella said, "Mommy, I don't think that's such a good idea." Jeremy then piped in and told her that only grown-ups can eat on the furniture. He must not know that that rule is every bit as much for him as it is for Stella. I'm really the only one who should have that kind of privilege. I promise, I'm only basing this rule on past experience(s), and if I'm being honest, Stella should probably blame Jeremy for ruining it for the both of them. Just sayin.'

Check out these so-freaking-cute-I-am-dying-and-even-made-Mr. Hubs-get-out-of-bed-to-look-at pieces of kids' furniture. Do you realize they are mini?! The chair, the sectional, the table and chairs--all of them! They are SO cute, but if that $300 pink chevron mini chair was mine, that dog would NOT get to sit there. I mean really, I don't even know if Stella would get to sit there, and definitely not Jeremy...

A Place for Velvet Furniture

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Ours was kind of wet with some sore throats, but regardless, it was the weekend, and weekends are kind of the best part of the week, dontcha think? I've come to the conclusion (again) that I could never live somewhere with a lot of rainfall...like St. Louis has been the last few weeks. It's cloudy and rainy and wet. I've never really liked being out in the rain , and I REALLY don't like being out in the rain grocery shopping, loading a toddler into the car, or going to a place with no parking (inside snuggling is a completely different story--that's pretty awesome). Speaking of things that don't like to get wet (other than me), check out this velvet furniture. Pretty maj, right? I think I could definitely use a velvet sofa in my sitting room. With my baby grand. In my imaginary house. I guess I should have stuck with piano lessons. Maybe Stella will be a pianist. If not, who wants to come play the piano while I sit on my velvet furniture and listen to you? I know. This blog of mine sparks quite the imagination in me, doesn't it?

For the Love. Of Stripes.

How was your weekend? Did you watch the Super Bowl, which in my case means, Did you stuff your face with awesome food and occasionally glance at the commercials and half-time show? Seriously, I think our friends thought I was actually into the football, because of the fact that I started talking about the party months ago. It's all about the food, people. The food. The food that I rarely indulge myself in, and the food that, quite frankly, is better than Thanksgiving. Some people like turkey and stuffing, and some people like chips and dip. Potato, po-tah-to.

In the meantime, I am still loving stripes. Throw in my recent obsession with black, and you get black and white stripes. They're perfect, especially paired with wood tones. Perfection.

Nice 'n Cozy

August is almost over. I say we ditch summer and move onto fall. You with me? Seriously. Ever since I moved to the midwest and met my nemesis, humidity, summer and I just haven't meshed well. Fall on the other hand, well fall is one of my besties. Sweaters, boots, jackets? Sign me up. And really, nothing says fall (and winter) like sheepskin. Oh sheepskin, you just look so cozy. And cozy means it's cool outside.  I need cool outside. But not too cool. Let's not get crazy.

[color kreyv]: Mustard Yellow

I have one, just one single yellow piece of decor in my entire house. That is Stella's lamp. There's a problem with that, I mean have you SEEN these pictures? Could they BE any more chic? (That was meant to sound like Chandler Bing, in case you didn't catch that.) I love yellow, and mustard yellow is like the more sophisticated version of yellow, so what's not to like about that? And, more importantly, why don't I have more of it in my house? I love the seating in these pictures, and if any of you ever decide to buy the above-mentioned, below-pictured seating, I promise, I will put it in my house. Oh, and I won't even return it, either.
