Guest Room | Brittni

I love this room! The hardest part about designing for clients, is that it just makes my wish list that much longer. And, for those of you who are regulars here on the ol' blog-a-roo, you know that my wish list is roughly the size of the perimeter of the earth. Times two.  This space is no exception.  I want it all.  For more information on my design services, email me at jamiejjoyal@gmail.com or click here for my design services overview.

Bedroom | Alex & Brooklyn

I'm pretty excited about this design.  It is for one of my very best friends in the entire world. You know, one of those friends that you don't talk to for months and then just pick up right where you left off? Yup, that's her. Plus, we're super funny when we're together, or at least we think we are, and that's all that counts, right?! This room is a shared room for her daughters. (We all know how much I love a room with double twin beds.) She already has the beds and duvet covers, so all we really need to do is brighten things up with some fun accessories.  I can't wait to see it when it's all done.

Baby Girl Nursery

Here is a recent nursery design with lots of neutrals, pale, blushy pinks, and some gold accents.  It's total baby glam.  And speaking of glam, if you saw me right now, glam is the VERY last word that would enter your brain.  My teeth are brushed, and that's about all I accomplished in the personal hygiene category today. I am still in my workout clothes, but I'm cold, so I put my robe on over the top of my clothes. I look hot. Really, really hot. Just ask my mom who insists on face timing. (Stella answered it…I was totally going to let it go to voicemail.) I swear, I'm either put together in heels and make-up, or I look like a homeless person--usually on Mondays when I clean the house and do laundry.  I have to tell you, though, when Tuesday rolls around, I'm feeling prey-ty awesome after a hair wash and some make-up. I mean, really, who doesn't love a good before and after?

Big Girl Room | Stella

Somebody may still be obsessing over the pale blue and chartreuse combination, so somebody decided to make a design board. For herself "client."  Named Stella.  Yes, Stella...as in my daughter…as in the one who just turned four and is on her fourth bedroom. I She needs it.  Plus, we may be moving this summer, and I really think it will help me her adjust.  For now, let's not bring it up to Hubs until we find the right opportunity, mmmkay? Timing is everything. BTW, Stella loves it. (The sheets and quilt didn't quite translate no matter how I uploaded them, so go to Serena & Lily and check them out.  They are perfect!)

Nursery | Man Cave | ElemenOPillows

Did you have a fun Halloween? Holidays are just so much fun with kids…especially because there is always chocolate involved. I like chocolate.  I like it a lot.

Here are two design boards: a nursery and a man cave. Both were inspired by the black houndstooth pillow from ElemenOPillows. I love how versatile pillows are, and they definitely play a big part in setting the tone for a room. Don't forget to enter the ElemenOPillows giveaway for your chance to win a $50 credit to the shop…just by leaving a comment on this post

Baby Boy Nursery | Jamison

Creating nurseries is so much fun! This space is for baby Jamison. I really wanted to implement lots of color in a subtle way. I also added some black and wood tones to the room. The black and white art will go over the existing white crib to create great contrast in the room. I can't wait to see it all finished!

Baby Girl Nursery | Juliet

The hardest part about designing a space for a client is to not go out and buy everything for myself. I am absolutely IN LOVE with this space. My client wanted a room that could grow with her daughter; wanted an unexpected color palette; a double bed in the room; and a reading corner. I know you haven't seen the space, but in my brain, it's amazeballs! Each of my clients receive a detailed design concept and summary, so they don't have to use their imaginations as much as you do, but trust me, this one's maj! I kind of want to move in!

Sitting Room | Laura

I completed this design board a couple of months ago for Laura's sitting room. The room already had a sofa with the damask pattern referenced on the design board. I chose the (yummy) blue velvet curtains for the room to dress FOUR windows--I know...maj! Speaking of maj, the room also has a baby grand. I know. I'm jealous, too. I wanted to bring in more pattern and color but not compete with the sofa.  The sofa was placed in between two windows, so I chose the vertical mirror to go above the sofa--a way to bring in more light and reflection without being too busy when next to the sofa and curtains. The rug worked perfectly with the sofa, pulling out the charcoal in the damask, and we added the two chairs to make an "L" shaped sitting area which faces the star of the room, the piano. Master Bedroom | Laura

So...let's not talk about the fact that we are moving across the country in three weeks, and we still don't have a house. Seriously, I don't know what was more stressful: taking shelter next to my washing machine during the tornado warnings on Friday, or not being able to find a house. No biggie. Let's talk about how pretty we can make someone else's house, mmmkay?

This design is one of my favorites. The room had an existing accent wall with a deep plum, a gorgeous four poster bed and dressers, and a white duvet. My client wanted to add color and pattern, but nothing too feminine. I found the chair, and it was PERFECT. If you look closely, you can see the purples, blues, and yellows. I always try to make sure that a room is not locked into just one color scheme. You can do this by adding even just a couple of pieces that bring in multiple colors. We kept the white duvet, but added two of the large striped pillows, two of the purple pillows (that I'm dying over), and the lilac quilt to put at the bottom of the bed. My client also had some great art with deep purples that was added to the design. I think this is a great space with the right mix of feminine and masculine. Aaaand...I kind of wish it was mine, but what's new?!

Baby Girl Nursery | Sydney

I hope you all had a fabulous Mother's Day. Mine was wonderful. Being a mommy is just the best gig ever and having a day of breakfast in bed, gifts, a dinner AND chocolate chip cookies made by my man is pretty awesome, too! I can't complain--I'm one lucky girl!

I created this design board for a client expecting a baby girl.  We kept the room, linens, and furniture neutral and added in some major pops and pattern with the rug, pillows, and the chair...oh that chair! To. Die. For. It was important to the client to have a space that allowed for some growing up. This room could easily go from nursery to little girl just by switching out the crib for a bed.

I personally love to design with a neutral base and add my pops through less-permanent pieces, because even though I may pretend that I will keep the room the same for a while, well, it's just not true. I will change things out, and this way, I can do so more easily. In other words, it's less obvious to the Hubs if I'm just changing out accessories rather than furniture and paint! j is for JORDY Design Board

I got a fun little package in the mail today: my j is for JORDY print! I ordered the print for a friend, and I have to tell you, I am IN LOVE with it! I can't wait to give her for her new baby's nursery, even though I kind of want to keep it for myself. Then again, it would be kind of weird to hang a "J is for Johnston" print in my home. The print inspired this design board, that quite frankly, was a little dream shopping spree of mine from Serena & Lily and Land of Nod (and a few other faves including ElemenOPillows.) Don't forget to enter the j is for JORDY giveaway where you, too, can win an adorable print which then makes you want to spend thousands on a room to match it. OR, you can just order one that matches an existing room...but that's really not as fun.

ElemenOPillows Design Board

Win this room...well, actually just the pillows in it (or any other pillows of your choice). Let's be honest, they're pretty much the best part. (They also come in green.) What? You haven't entered to win $50 from ElemenOPillows? What is wrong with you? Don't worry, I won't hold it against you, but get to it!

Living Room | Brittni

I have this sister who is an a-mazing photographer. She comes all the way to St. Louie from Texas to take pictures of me and my family. I am her highest maintenance, lowest paying client, but she keeps coming back. For her, I design and decorate her house. I'm pretty sure I have the best end of the deal, but don't tell her that.

Here is the design board for her sitting room. The room is super neutral with tan walls and off-white furniture, so I really wanted to add some rich color saturation. My only issue is that now I really want this room. Well, let's be honest, that's not my only issue, but that's another story for another day.

Baby Girl Nursery

Here is my baby girl nursery. I like the pairing of ultra feminine elements with the more masculine striped rug that was used in yesterday's boy nursery. Granted, I can't afford a new Restoration Hardware dresser and that to-die-for Land of Nod glider, but isn't it gorg? Maybe my unborn child that may or may not be a girl would like this nursery when she is sixteen. We should be out of debt by then. I hope.

Baby Boy Nursery

Sometimes I buy rugs for the house. Like eight rugs. And then, I take them back. But sometimes, I keep one (or two), only to roll it up and put it away for later. When this happens, I insist that I will use it again at a later time. Please keep in mind that insisting is VERY different than promising. Either way, I do plan on using my Dash & Albert rug in the future. It's actually a great rug.

We're hoping that the next room that needs a rug will be a nursery. Of course, that could mean either a boy or a girl, so today, here is the design board for a boy based around the rug. Tomorrow, I will show you my board for a girl--using the same rug, because not only did I insist on using it, I may or may not have also mentioned how versatile it is.

Stella's Big Girl Room

It seems that whenever I ask for the hub's opinion, I always do the opposite. It's like he confirms my decisions...by telling me the opposite of what I really want. Hmmm. Strange. The hubs told me not to buy paint until we found out whether or not we would be moving in a year. His reasons? A. We are renting, and anything we paint will have to be covered up. B. He HATES to paint, and C. Even though I tell him he doesn't need to help, we both know he does. Ughhh...practical people.  Well...a year is a long time, so I bought the paint. (I actually got a fantastic tip from my friend Faith: buy Benjamin Moore's oops paint. They only charge $7/gallon. It's not the exact color I wanted, but for $7, it's close enough! I mean, $7 is kind of like free.)

Anyway, here is the design board for Stella's room. All I have so far is the headboard, paint, and the mattress, which in my opinion doesn't even count, because mattresses are not fun to buy, nor are they cute. It's going to be a fun adventure! (To see Stella's current room, click here.)

Layla Grace & Mod Memento Winner

Layla Grace asked me to put a few of their products together for a design board. A few? Yeah, right. Have you been to Layla Grace lately? They have tons of beautiful items...there's no way I could stop at just a few. I dare you to visit. You'll want everything!

I started with the bed. Really, people, it was love at first sight. Since the bed was a bit more traditional, I wanted to bring in some contemporary pieces. I love mixing traditional and contemporary; geometric prints with floral prints; feminine with masculine. You get the point. The hardest part? Narrowing down what pieces I wanted to use! Check out the complete breakdown below my bedroom design board.
Pom Pom at Home Curtain Panel Smocked Organic Linen; Geo Print Blue Pillow Pair; Dwell Studio Home Labyrinth Citrine Pillow; Thomas Paul Botanical Aqua Linen Pillow; Oly Studio Sienna Chair; Aidan Gray Decor Signs London Bus Route; Cottage Style Furniture Collection Corbels Bed Luxe; Cosmopolitan Silver Gray Polyester Rug

Have I mentioned that I'm SO in love with my love story? LOVE. IT. And now, for the Mod Memento Giveaway winner...numero 16, Nicole! (Number generated from random.org.) Thank you to everyone who entered!
