Pretty Little Closets

Look at these cute little closets. Aren't they adorbs? It will probably be a long time before I ever paint or wallpaper a closet (I figure the parts of my house that actually show should probably get the attention first), but I absolutely love the idea. Plus, who doesn't love to look at tiny little clothes? Adult clothes, on the other hand, really aren't so fun to look at…unless they are brand new…and for me. Why is everything cuter when it's tiny?!

Have you entered the ElemenOPillow giveaway, yet? If you did, great. If not, what the heck is your problem? I joke, I joke, but really, get on it. It's a $50 credit to the ElemenOPillow shop. Winning could potentially change your life home. Click here to enter.

Now THAT'S a Closet!

Happy Monday...right?! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, mine was pretty amaze-balls! On Friday, we went to a pre-birthday BBQ with friends, then played Things. (Have you played that game? Hilarious!) On Saturday, Mr. Hubs was on pager call, but that thing didn't go off once the entire 24 hour shift, which is good, because we did some major birthday shopping. Hooray! I think the shopping Gods must have been looking out for us. They knew we were in the zone and didn't need to be interrupted by some crazy hospital emergency. On Sunday, we went to church and enjoyed more GORGEOUS weather. It really doesn't get much better than family, friends, good weather, and shopping. I just need three more things: one of these closets, more clothes to fill it with, and to win the lottery! My birthday is on Thursday, so if anyone is needing an idea for a gift, I just gave you three. Wink, wink!

A Place to Dream

Whoever invented the concept of a walk-in closet deserves a Nobel Peace Prize. Without our walk-ins (and Stella's tub that stores a stroller), I don't know where we would put all of our stuff. Our closets don't quite look like these--and by not quite I mean nothing in common besides the fact that they all have ceilings--but it sure is fun to dream. Actually, I'd like to lie down in one of these closets, fall asleep, and do my dreaming in there. Is that too much to ask?

Closets, Hubs, and Complete Randomness

The Hubs has this theory about bed space. He thinks that since he's twice my size, he gets twice the space. That leaves me with one third of a queen size mattress. No biggie, I don't mind sleeping in fetal position on the very edge of the bed. It's not that far to the floor if I fall. But don't worry. He only gets one third of the closet, and by one third, I mean not even close to one third. Ha! Take that, Jeremy! (I know. It's not the same. And I can guarantee, he's never even thought twice about the inequality of the closet. Oh well.)

Anyway, I finally convinced Mr. Mattress Nazi to clean out his part of the closet. And then, I made him help me clean out my side. I would hold up an item of clothing that I was thinking of getting rid of, and so many times, he said, "Yeah. I've never really liked that." I was absolutely shocked. Ok, so I've worn these things how many times, and each time you've hated my outfit? Good to know. It was quite the learning experience for me, but I have to say, I love his honesty.  We all know that when I don't like his outfits, I don't wait two years to tell him.

So...I know. I was a little bit all over the place with this post. I do that sometimes, but in case you're wondering, the moral of this story is this: We need a bigger bed, and a bigger closet. And, of course, more clothes and shoes, but that's a given. Oh, and I really love these closets and wish they were mine. That's all.

Closets and Tears

Wouldn't it be awesome to have one of these to die for, must have, dream closets? I seriously would just hide in there and look at all of my beautiful clothes and shoes, that of course, I would have to buy, so that my wardrobe was worthy of my closet. Make sense? I knew it would.
Today I went through four bins and packed up all of Stella's 0-12 month clothes to ship to Utah. There were a lot of memories in those bins of clothes, like the outfit we brought her home from the hospital in; or the little, silver ballet flats that she wore to her temple sealing; or the itty bitty jammies with the yellow ducks on them. I cried (and it still makes me cry). Stella said, "Mommy sad." She then sat on my lap and gave me one of her little hugs--the ones where she squeezes tight and gives a little pat on my back. And then...she put a magnet down my shirt, and the moment pretty much ended there. Can I not have a serious conversation with anyone in this house without someone trying to put something down my shirt? Sheesh!

Just Plain Ol' Good Ideas

So it's the last day of the week of organization. (Technically, you still have Saturday, but we don't do that type of thing at our house on Saturdays. Saturdays are for messing up the house, or so some people in this household may think. How did you do? I can't say I did any major, life-changing projects, but I did something each day--mostly things I've been putting off. I organized Stella's bows; I cleaned out my side of the closet; I cleaned out my dresser drawers; I finally vacuumed, wiped out, AND washed the car (in a car wash, of course); and I cleaned and organized my desk, which has been the home of lots and lots of random piles of papers. I've only been in this house for a year, so I didn't have a ton of stuff to get rid of (plus, I throw things away on a daily basis, it's what we OCDers do). I also have a hard time getting rid of clothing, even if I haven't worn it for a while. Oh well, at least I made some progress!

Today I'm posting pics of good organization ideas I've come across. One reader is looking for ideas on organizing shoes, so let us know your ideas. At our house, we have a basket in the entry, and we use shoe shelves in our closet, which, by the way, aren't even tall enough for the pumps I wear, so I just have to line those up on the floor. The crown molding idea would definitely solve my problem.

And, last, but not least, check out The Scoop on Poop today. She's featuring me and my lil' ol' bloggy, [kreyv]. Oh, and one more thing...have a great weekend!!
