Spring preview

Spring seems to be in the air finally in southeastern Pennsylvania. Temps are in the 50s and rain is replacing all the snow we have had. So what is more springy than a bunch of daisies.

Today at Inky Paws we have a springy color challenge. We are asking you to use yellow, purple, white, and spring green on your creations.

My card today features something old and something new. The old is the "dainty daisies" stamp set from Newton's Nook. The new is the new slim line masking circles and squares stencils from Newton's Nook.  I just used two windows for an A2 card. The cloud stencil was also from Newton's Nook.

Pull out your springy inks, paints, and or markers and  join us for our color challenge at Inky Paws.  We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.
The deadline to enter today's challenge is  Friday, March 12, 2021 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

Winston takes off

Good day everyone! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. I had an awesome holiday, but it is time to move on to the next holiday. before I have one after another holiday card to show you, I figured I sneak in a birthday card that I made for George. His birthday was last Sunday and he is all about bears. I used this awesome sketch from Inky Paws as my inspiration for the card.
For my card I grabbed "Winston takes flight" and colored and die cut Winston. I used the sky border die to create my clouds and layered it all on the frameworks die base.

Head on over to Inky Paws and join in this fun sketch challenge. We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

The deadline to enter today's challenge is Friday December 7, 2018, at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

The sky's the limit

This is the time year where graduations abound. My BFF told me she was going to her granddaughter's graduation from preschool. Preschool!!!! I then found out there are graduations not only from preschool but kindergarten, elementary school, middle school. Geez, you can tell I don't have kids! 😀 Well if all these graduations are going on, you are going to need a bunch of congrats cards. I figured I better get a stock in.

CAS(E) this Sketch and Addicted to CAS both had a challenged that when I saw it, I knew exactly what I was going to do. Sometimes it happens like that. You just grab your stamps and 20 minutes later you have your creation done.

Die cuts seem to be a buzz word this week. Both The Male Room and Just Us Girls are looking for us to use them in our work.

I used Lawn Fawn's Blue Skies. I sponged the blue sky background and added the clouds and hot air balloon, all colored with copics.  Die cut them. (what would we do without dies?!!) The sentiment and gems were added and voila- the card was done.

These are some really fun challenges. Click on my links and play along too.

Happy Little Stampers July Sketch Challenge

Today is my debut on the DT at Happy Little Stampers!! How exciting is that!! To be part of all things stamping is so up my alley. Happy Little Stampers is a unique challenge. It has 3 different challenges under one roof. There is the team I am on- HLS sketch challenge, but there is also HLS CAS challenge and HLS Christmas challenge.

Here is the sketch for July. I tried to think outside the box with this sketch. Let me know if I went to far afield.
When I saw the tree, I knew I wanted something a bit different and i thought- "hey hot air balloons!"
But of course I did not have a single hot air balloon stamp. I mean I am so behind the trends- weren't they popular last year?!!? As always I am a day late and a dollar short when it comes to trends.

So since Lawn Fawn is my new fav company, I had to order their set Blue Skies. I paper pieced the balloon with this orange polka dot paper and then colored the balloon panels with copic markers. It looked cool with the shadow of the polka dots coming through.

The cloud embossing folder is for a horizontal card, but I really wanted to use it on this vertical card. I just embossed what I could, but I really like how the clouds just kinda stop. Interesting effect.

So please check out all of the Happy Little Stamper Challenges and join in on all the fun. You have a month to play, so it shouldn't be to stressful to join in!!

Sunny days

I have been stuck on a theme lately and it involves clouds, the sun and anything that relates to them. Bare with me, you may not have seen the end to this theme. I will at least try to shake it up a bit each time.

Soooooo, today's card is based on the new challenge at The Male Room. We are asking you to add a tag to your project. I love tags. I have a HUGE box full of them. My card is loosely based on a card with a tag that Laura Bassen made for the new online card class MASK-erade.

I have a couple of theses sun ray stamps that were so hot (pun intended) last summer. My sunshine is from Mama Elephant and I love this set because it has the best sentiments in it.

The cute little plane is from my new favorite company- Lawn Fawn- Bon Voyage .

ooooooh...... what's peaking out from inside the card?

Now it is your turn to show us how you will use a tag on your best masculine card! Please join us at the Male room!

Hello sunshine

When we were having lunch today, my sweet George commented on how today felt like the summer. I said it looked like summer with the hazy blue sky and bright warm sunshine. It's only early May, it makes me think we are in for a sweltering summer. But after the bitterly cold winter we had here on the  East Coast, I will take it.

CAS(E) this sketch always have the best yet simple sketches. I have to admit they can be a challenge to me with their simplicity. But I used today as my inspiration and created my "hello sunshine" card.

I used Lawn Fawn's  "hello sunshine" set and a variety of cloud dies. I added a coating of glitter to make my sun really appear hot.

Be sure to check out CAS(E) this sketch  for this week's challenge. Bye for now, I am going to grab a book, my chair and head to the back yard to say HELLO SUNSHINE!

Bon Voyage!

This is Memorial Day weekend, the official start to the summer!! Yee haaa!!!! I thought it appropriate to make a Bon Voyage card and Simon Says Stamp cooperated by having a challenge that call for travel or vacation cards.

I am also entering this at Addicted to Stamps- where anything goes this week!

This card uses a very old but always well inked-Hero Arts vertical cloud. It is so old, I could only find it on e-bay. the bon voyage definition is also from Hero arts and the plane is a fav from Papertrey Ink.

Wishing all of you a happy start to your summer!!

Some Birdie...

Happy New Year to all my friends at Just Us Girls! I hope you are putting 2013  behind you and getting ready for everything 2014 will be bringing you!

We have an awesome sketch for the first challenge of the new year, courtesy of Nancy.

I gotta say I was a bit sad to put the Christmas stamps away, but it had to happen and Valentine's day is right around the corner.

I went for  a taste of spring in the middle of winter here in Pennsylvania with the sketch. The first card I made just didn't sit well with me- to pale and dull- see below card. I had lunch and went back and recreated it and was much happier.

This is a pale imitation of the card I remade for the challenge.
