Crafty girl!

Well its about 95 degrees in my studio, but I have a huge fan blowing on me, so I am good right now and have gotten in some crafting before it gets too terrible. Word has it the heat is suppose to break tomorrow. Hope that is true.

I finished a burthdaycard for my brother and then decided to check out some challenges. Among my new favs is CAS(E) this Sketch. I love theirclean and simple sketches that allow alot of room for creative interpretation.

This sketch did have me a bit stumped until I saw a tube of washi tape sitting on my desk. The original intent was just to use the washi tape and a sentiment. But that was too barren even for this CAS gal.

I pulled out a new stamp set from Heffy Doodle called "Superdudes"  and Inky Antics has a fun sentiment set called "Crafty Comments", both which work great together. Of course this card was done in shades of green- the most beautiful color in the world!

just floatin'

Who said cats don't like water? Clearly, Newton loves the water. He is just hanging out, floatin'.

This card was inspired by the new challenge at CAS(E) this sketch. I have to say this one had me stumped at first. But I went through my stamps and while I was checking them out this idea came to me.

All the supplies for this card are from Newton's Nook. Head on over to  CAS(E) this sketch and see what the DT has to inspire you. Join in the fun!

Here's to the red, white, and blue!

Despite it being about 102 degrees in my studio, I have been getting in some quality crafting time. I was checking some of the various challenges out there and decided to play along with CAS(E) this Sketch.

They always have very clean and simple designs that I gravitate towards. As soon I saw this week's sketch, I knew what I was going to create. After all it is the birth of our Nation this week.

I used a very old set from Lawn Fawn called "Happy 4th". Unfortunately it is sold out and retired. There are not many patriotic stamps out there, so this one gets a work out every year.

The sky's the limit

This is the time year where graduations abound. My BFF told me she was going to her granddaughter's graduation from preschool. Preschool!!!! I then found out there are graduations not only from preschool but kindergarten, elementary school, middle school. Geez, you can tell I don't have kids! 😀 Well if all these graduations are going on, you are going to need a bunch of congrats cards. I figured I better get a stock in.

CAS(E) this Sketch and Addicted to CAS both had a challenged that when I saw it, I knew exactly what I was going to do. Sometimes it happens like that. You just grab your stamps and 20 minutes later you have your creation done.

Die cuts seem to be a buzz word this week. Both The Male Room and Just Us Girls are looking for us to use them in our work.

I used Lawn Fawn's Blue Skies. I sponged the blue sky background and added the clouds and hot air balloon, all colored with copics.  Die cut them. (what would we do without dies?!!) The sentiment and gems were added and voila- the card was done.

These are some really fun challenges. Click on my links and play along too.

That bites!

This weekend has been all about stamping with a few meals thrown in. Today's card is in responce to a few challenges. And I know it is hard to believe, but this CAS card took me all day to make. Originally I had three fish, way to many. Then trying to find an fun and appropriate sentiment. Why don't I have a "birthday fishes" greeting. Does anyone know where I can find one?

The challenge at Less is More is to use yellow and grey. I have never found these colors particularly appealing, but one of my staff is having twins and these are the colors she chose for the babies' room. So I am practicing.

Next I used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch. I have to say I don't mind the yellow and grey so much on this card.

Lastly, because it all fit I am entering, the photo challenge over at  Addicted to Stamps and More

Well this as been a fabulously creative weekend in my studio. Please check out these great challenges too!!

Happy Place

I had a couple of New Year resolutions and one was to enter more challenges since I am not on any design teams anymore. I went through all the different challenges yesterday to see what inspired me. As many of you know, I become intimidated by sketch challenges. I tend to take them too literally and then I get stumped.

I decided to test myself for the first challenge in 2017 and am trying the challenge at CAS(E) this sketch. Since I tend to work clean and simple these days, maybe their challenge would not be so daunting.

Originally, I was planning a sky theme, but it is cold and snowy outside and being at the beach with the DH inspired this card. I decide to give it a valentine slant by coloring the Adirondack chair red and cutting the heart out. I used this set from Stampendous. I am a great one for cutting up my acrylic stamps to make them more versatile. The sentiment is half Reverse Confetti and Paper Smooches.

Wishing all of you warm sunny days in the middle of winter!
