I Love You

Good Morning!
With February almost here I see so much Valentine inspiration  in blogland & I wanted to make a card too but without using too much red!

Here's my card for today -

The focal element of this card is the spot light die cut tag (Paper Trey Ink).
What is a Valentine card without a heart! I stamped the heart from Simon Says Stamp "I See You" set on the tag such that a bit is stamped off the die cut, on to the card stock. Heat embossed this in silver embossing powder.

I glued 5 tags together for the spotlight effect. I alternated a black & red tag to add some interest & I loved the dash of red popping from the sides.

I covered the heart, only on the tag with clear Wink of Stella, this created magic & further high lighted the heart.

Craft Your Passion#254

Good Morning!
We have a new challenge for you today at Craft Your Passion#254, our theme is always "Anything Goes". This week we're sponsored by Crafty Sentiments & they provided the DT some adorable digis to play with.  I chose this  image "Looking Up", which I colored with Cretacolor pencils and fussy cut before adding to the die cut.

Lots of layering in this card.......

Tag in a tag

Good Evening!
The current challenge at Beyond Grey Challenges is to make a tag with textures. I surely wanted to play along because I just love textures.

Enjoyed playing along with texture paste (homemade) & Tim Holtz layering stencil (rays) to create the base. Blended distress inks (mustard seed, spiced marmalade, rusty hinge & fired brick) over this several times. I then placed the stencil over the tag again.............this time I placed the design between the textured rays & then misted water to create some more rays! Take a closer look between the textured rays & you will know what I mean. The script was stamped over this diagonally as if emerging from the rays & the sentiment stamped on another cardstock & glued with foam dots. A beach chair charm dangling over the awesome trim coordinates so well with the sentiment. The bottom of the tag with metal corners has a little vellum pocket for another tag which is made from shrink plastic!  You have to see this tag in person to admire the super shimmer of the wink of stella over the textured rays.

I enjoyed making this so much that I have already started with another tag & writing this post while the background dries! So please do stop by again tomorrow.

Glitter-Fly

A very good morning to you all!

Sharing the tutorial I did for Color Conceptions Challenge Blog as a DT.

Let me take you through the pictorial to make flower stamens with glitter.
Gather your supplies - Glue gun, glue stick, floral stems, loose glitter.

Once the glue gun is ready to use evenly spread the glue on the tips of the floral stem.

Quickly dip this into the glitter & viola your stamen is ready! Easy, didn't I tell you?

I used all the glitter colors I had & used these to make calla lilies which I'll show you in a bit.

Another quick & easy glitter technique to add dimension to your embellishment.
I first die cut  a MB pippi butterfly in the corner of a CS (will be used later) to create a negative space. Then the CS was embossed & distressed with a blend of these colors squeezed lemonade, peeled paint & salty ocean. After which I stamped a script over it (hope you can see it!) with distress paint (picket fence)

Next glue a cellophane tape on the backside as shown here,

Now sprinkle some glitter over & spread it evenly into negative of the die cut & tap off the excess. This is what it will look like -

I also die cut the same butterfly in acetate & used the Wink of Stella clear brush marker to add a bit of shimmer to it. The die cut was distressed & both these were layered over the glitter one. This really looks fantastic in real with the glitter peeking from under the butterfly.

Here is the finished card...........hope you like the handmade calla lilies too!

A CHRISTMAS TAG

Here is a Christmas tag I made keeping in mind a few challenges. I have done some stamping on the base of this tag & added a few layers. The focal point is the ornament & wreath (made from punched leaves) & how can I miss a Christmas tree................that tiny little brad!

The mdf snow flake is heat embossed in silver embossing powder........

A Tea Light Candle Holder Card with a Tutorial

Hello friends, welcome once again :-).
I am back with another card today & this one is a tea light candle holder card with a tutorial (thanks to the Itsy Bitsy Challenge, let me tell you I really enjoyed compiling this & please excuse me if I have forgotten to capture a few steps).
This card doubles as a box to hold small gifts (chocolates, candies, tea lights) within the card. I have used this tutorial for reference.
Let me first take you through the steps in making this box. I have used another cardstock to show the first two steps because I forgot to take pics!!!!
For my card I have used heavy weight white CS.

Glue one strip to form a box, leaving the smaller sides unglued to insert the candles.

The box & the card both are ready now. You can chose to decorate, embellish as you wish. I chose to heat emboss some flowers & then distress the card & box (used fired brick, barn door & mustard seed inks) as you can see -

Now here is the much awaited part....................the final look. I truly loved the white heat embossed flowers against the red BG.

Some close ups.............

This is the inside of the card...................included a small pocket to hold a tag.

The tag completely co-ordinates with the color scheme & design............lady bud included!!! The tag is distressed with walnut stain & vintage photo inks.

The front & the back of the card.

Also made this card with the Lulupu Challenge#14 in mind & used the colors accordingly.
