Day Trip!

So hard to believe Summer is almost over and time for school to start again.
Although I retired from teaching a year ago, since my daughter is a
teacher; it means I am back to my favorite job as the babysitting grandma.
The challenge this week at Sweet Sassy Diva is a Travel Challenge or how
we spent our Summer Vacation.  Since my youngest daughter was due with her
second child the end of July we had to stay close to home.   We did a lot
of day trips and trips to see the new grandbaby.  This is actually right
before grandbaby #3 arrived in July.  We live in California and there is a
mission close to my my daughter's house.  We went there one day to look at
all the animals and see the exhibits.  Then we went to the local Danish
town to eat at our favorite restaurant.  My oldest granddaughter had a
blast pretending like she was fixing her coffee with sugar and stirring it.

Here is the completed two page layout.
First I  placed my pictures on my background paper which is Roman Numerals.

I decided to add some cuts from Heritage.  I cut the windmill and shadow at
8".
The wagon and shadow at 4 ".
Then the title was cut using Plantin Schoolbook at 2 " and the shadow.

I then embossed the letters and part of the wagon and windmill with the
Distressed Stripes Cuttlebug folder to give it the wood look.
I also cut out the banner at 2 " to write the name of the mission and the date.
I then chalked the edges to make it look old.   The wagon was all cut
out of cardstock  and then I made the top yellow and wheel black with
chalk.
For the other page I chalked the top of the wheel and also cut out and chalked
the parchment cut at 3 " to add journaling.
Hope you are getting some great ideas this week for scrapbooking your vacation
photos.  Come back each day this week to see what the Design Team has in
store for you.  Also I would love to have you  stop by my blog and see what
else I have been up to.

Frontier City!

Hello all, Tina Gale back with another layout for sweetsassydiva design team. This week is all about travel and vacation. Well as some of you know if you follow my blog my summer has consisted of chemo treatments for my hubby and no vacation so I went a few years back, ok I went several years back and scrapped some pics of a trip to Frontier City. It's a small amusement park but it was perfect for our little ones at the time.
I've got lots of pics to show you all the details and cuts. Wow; did I do a lot of cuts for these two layouts!
I used some twine from my stash to make a lasso to hang from a dew drop. I love the way it turned out.
I used a wanted sign to do my journalling block and then used brads to mimic the nails you would see in one.
Again I couldn't resist adding some rope for her lasso. It added some great dimension and detail to the layout.

And now for all the details for the carts, cuts, and supplies I used.

Vacation Inspiration....Smash book!

Hi there, Lori from ScrappinMyStressAway here with my Summer Vacation project.  I created a smash book!  We take the same vacation every summer to the Ozarks in Missouri.  My two brothers and their families go too.  We went to this same resort when we were kids.

We take down food, towels, ping pong balls, tennis raquets, pool toys and a bunch of other things.  I am a list maker, so this book helped with the planning of our trip.  I also used it to sketch and write down all of my scrappy ideas while we were there, as well as journal what we did each day.

I started with a $1 journal from Michaels and some of my favorite supplies.  Most of these are scraps!
I cut out a title for my Smash Book from Nursery Rhyme at 1 inch out of purple cardstock.  I used my Gypsy to line up my letters so they were right side justified.

I saved the negative piece and used it as a template for my letters.  I used my 1" Xyron to adhere the letters to my cover.  Note to self ~ next time use Mod Podge over the letters to prevent them from sliding around!

I also added some twine and (later) a butterfly charm.  The cover was pretty so I did not want to alter it anymore.
I printed out this tag from my Imagine along with a few other pieces.  I adhered it to this tag and then adhered the pocket to the inside cover.

For the first inside page, I cut this 8x8 decorative page in half and adhered each half to the outer edge of the page.

I had some of these Tim Holtz dies cut out already and finally found a purpose for one of them!  I also added a flower I cut out from a Tim Holtz/Sizzix die.  Sometimes at a crop, I will cut out things for future use even if I have no idea what I will use them for!

Here was another piece of 8x8 paper that I liked, so I cut it down for 3 pages.

On the left page, I wrote down my grocery list.  In this envelope pocket I put my coupons that I would use.  I have been having fun trying to be an extreme couponer lately!!

On this page, I use a couple cuts from Straight From the Nest.

Here is where I sketched an idea for an upcoming Disney Hop.

Below are some of my highlights from our vacation:

We took a helicoptor tour over the lake.

I rode a segway for the first time ever!!!  Here is a link to the post about my Segway Layout if you are interested.

Tubing with my niece!  All three things I would not have done before losing 77 lbs!  I had a blast on vacation this year!!!  I hope you had a great summer vacation too!

Here is one last shot of my Smash Book!  This was a fun and inexpensive project as I used mostly scraps and extra pieces!!

Be sure to check back all week for some great projects for this challenge!

Gold Fever!

Hello everyone! I have been so busy this last month! It was nice to finally get back home and get a project going. In the past month we...went gold mining at Cache Creek, fishing in Kenai, bought a 2nd 4 wheeler, went on a porker run on the 4 wheelers, drove to Valdez, picked salmonberries, picked blueberries, stayed in Valdez for 16 days, fished in Valdez, attended Valdez Gold Rush Days, went on a historic homes of Valdez walking tour, drove home, got the kids ready for school made salmonberry jelly and finally sent the kids back to school! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh and I am sure there are things in there I forgot lol. So when asked to make a project with the theme of 'What I did on my summer vacation' I had lots of things to chose from. But I picked one and ran with it.
Picked out the paper. All this peper is from my K&Co super stack

Created my own paper gold pan

Printed out 3 fun pictures from gold mining and added 'gold' to my pan
Cut out some blue and gold glittery words, stars and circles from a piece of DCWV cardstock
Added in a few strips of polka dotty paper and called it good as gold ;)

Notebook Baby!

Hi Everyone!  It's Liza from Hoo's
Crafty!
Haven't these Apple projects been amazing this week.  I
am so honored to be part of such an amazing Design Team.  I have been
slacking on all the daily crafting I used to accomplish, so I am very thankful
for SSD to keep me on my toes and not forget why I love doing it.

For my apple project, I decided to use my Gypsy!  Don't fall over....

I chose the apple cut on A Child's Year

In this photo, I have sized the SHADOW to appx 4".   I duplicated it,
and then FLIPPED it.
To make sure they would line up, I used my Y coordinate to be sure they were at
the same number on each cut.
I added a rectangle from Plantin Schoolbook in the center to create a
binding.   Once cut I will score the sides and fold it up.  Can
you tell what we are making now.....a little apple shaped notebook.

Here is a screen shot before cutting.  I have my SHADOW in the top
corner.  I cut the TAG and the TAG +Sft.  On the TAG feature I used
Hide Contour to hide the tiny circle that would cut in the stem.

This is why I cut the apple image twice.  Once in brown and once in
green.  I used my Xacto knife to carefully cut off the stem and layer it
onto the brown.  This gave me the green leaves I needed.

I have all my layers applied to the front of my cut.   I used some Ink
Spots to ink around the edge of the leaves and the red apple to give it softer
look.

Now its time to cut out my inside pages.   I used the TAG cut for
this, HIDE CONTOUR on all the lines inside the leaves.  Added half the size
of the rectangle, welded and duplicated.  I cut this out on two sheets for
a total of 12 apple shaped pages.

Once all cut out I stacked them up and glued them into the binding of the apple
notebook.  To do this, I used Beacon Adhesives ZIPDRY. I placed all my
sheets in at once and used a clip to hold them together until it was completely
dry.

It didn't feel done to me at this point.  Something was missing......

I cut another TAG +Sft apple, inked the edges, added some bakers twine and a
cute polka dot button.  I used 3D foam tape under all this to add
dimension.  Now...it feels complete.

Thanks for stopping by this week, I hope you enjoyed all the APPLE PROJECTS

Go Garden Grow!

Hello everyone! Tina here from tiggersscrapplace again with another layout for sweetsassydiva Design Team. This layout was completely inspired by one Jana Eubanks did a few months back. I have wanted to lift it ever since I saw it and when we had a challenge to use apples I decided now was my chance. I think it turned out adorable.
I couldn't resist adding a couple of mushrooms. I chose some fun polka dot and plaid patterned paper. It made some great looking mushrooms
I cut grow which was for another sign just by itself in a couple of different sizes and then chose the garden sign to go with it. It made a great title when put all together.
I chose the little girl gnome for my page as I thought she was too cute to resist.
The apple tree was cute but really came to life with a little inking and penwork. I'm going to add the date on the tag tied around the bag.
I inked the sun with a couple of different chalk inks and then did pen work with a brown marker. The clouds I inked with charcoal and then did my pen work. I pop dotted the top cloud up for dimension.
I used one of the signs as my journalling spot. Leaving the words off the shape made a great journalling block. Of course I Inked it all up and pen stitched around it.
Details:
Freshly Picked -
grow - 1" & 1 1/2"  pg 60
Garden sign - 3"  pg 34
Gnome -  4"  pg 36
mushrooms - 2"   pg 34
Apple Tree - 6 1/2"  pg 28
Journalling sign - 3"  pg 48

Pop Up Neighborhood -

Grass -  fit to page   pg 45

I hope you enjoyed my layout today and be sure to check all this weeks post for some great inspiration. I'd love for you to hop on over to my blog and see what else I've been creating as well.
