This is Jen from 3 Cats and a Bug! This week we have a fun theme at Sweetsassydiva's, using a Mojo Monday Sketch! I can't wait to see what the rest of the design team comes up with for this sketch. I'm using this sketch to make a birthday card for my son's 21st birthday.
The tags was cut from Sentimentals, @ 3 and I used my white gel pen to add a border to the dark blue tag. The scalloped circle was cut from Easter 2010 @ 3. I used my Gypsy to hide the inside cuts on it. The banner was cut from Lovely Floral, @ 3. I used my Gypsy to hide the two slits in the banner and the circle part of the image. I used my white gel pen to add the border. I used Straight from the Nest to cut out the cupcake @ 2. I used Sweet Treats to cut out "21" @ 1.5 and added orange stickles to the flame.
Please stop by my blog, 3 Cats and a Bug and see what else I've been up to! Thanks for looking.

XOXO Door Hanger!
Hello ~ Lori here from ScrappinMyStressAway. This week at SweetSassyDiva's the theme is "Not a Card or Layout" so I decided to finish a project I started earlier. I saw something similar several months back and created a file in my Gypsy right away (so I did not forget) and never even did a test cut! I was thinking this would be cute for Valentine's Day.
I started with this box from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More and welded this layer of an ornament from Christmas. The box is sized at 10.90w x 6.88h and the layer of an ornament is sized at 4.81w x 29.12h.
On a side note, the layer of the ornament can be used as a wine bottle tag!
I cut out my box in red card stock.
I scored and creased on the fold marks and used my ATG to adhere it together.
I found an image from my Holiday Vignettes program and printed it out on white cardstock. I cut it out.
I had to guess at the size of the image and it turned out pretty well!
I wanted to put a doily behind the image, so I opened up Lacy Labels and found an oval shaped doily. I rotated it 90 degrees and sized it to fit the front of the box (4.91w x 3.47h).
I grabbed the "XOXO" from Sentimentals and sized it to 2.74w x 1.12h.
I cut both out of cream colored card stock.
I inked them both with Antique Linen ink to age them.
I wrapped some wide brown ribbon around the middle of the box and adhered the doily to the box. I pop-dotted the image to the doily. Now I just have to wait for my Valentines to be delivered!!!

The Magic of Winter!
This is Jen, from 3 Cats and a Bug. Part of the requirement to join Sweetsassydiva's design team was doing a Tis The Season project. For my project, I decided to do a Tri Shutter card with more non traditional colors.
Tri Shutter cards look like they may be difficult to make, but they really are super easy. You start out with your card stock cut at 5.50 x 12. Next you start at 1 inch down from the top and 2 inches in and cut a line to the 10 inch mark. Do the same thing again only 1 inch up from the bottom. Now you score your card at 2, 4, 8 and 10. It should look like the photo below.
I decorated my card using two different patterned papers, but you can use only one if you like. I also like to have my patterned papers to be smaller than the card stock. That's also a personal choice, so the sizes you cut depend on what you want your card to look like. I also used my color box chalk to ink the outside of light colored paper.
You can see the green borders once I attached my paper.
I did the same thing with the darker patterned paper, except the inking.
Now it's ready to decorate! Around my house, all winter long and sometimes even into spring, you'll hear me say "tis the season!" to my husband. He's a born and bred Texan! He moved to Wisconsin about 11 years ago and he's never totally adjusted to our winters. After the first winter, he's hated snow and the bone deep cold. So every time it's really cold or the snow flies, I just tell him "tis the season!" I couldn't resist making him a card with that saying on it. lol With the help of my gypsy, I was able to lay out several colors of paper on my mat to cut everything except the words.
I used Winter Woodland for almost everything.
The snow man and woman were cut @ 4.5 with their layers. I also used a black pen and stickles on them.
The mittens were cut @ 2. I used my Gypsy and hide the scarf. I used stickles and gems to dress them up.
The hat was also cut @ 2 and I used pink stickles on that one.
"The magic of winter" was cut @ 3, although I tweaked it a bit to fit in the boxes the way I wanted it to.
"Tis the season" was cut from County Life (my favorite for fonts at the moment!) at .75.
The stamp shape behind the words came from Sentimentals and was cut @ 2x 3.75.
Thanks Bobbi Jo for having me as a design team member again!

Spring Wreath!
Good Morning! This is Jen from 3 Cats and a Bug. This week SSD asked her DT to make a home decor project and I played along this week too. I've never done anything like this before, having only been doing scrap-booking and card making for a few years. I think it took me longer to think out the project then to actually do it! lol
I started with a wreath form from Joann's~ with a coupon it was about $3.50. This way if it didn't work I wasn't out much!
I then took 1.5" purple ribbon and wrapped it around the wreath form. Still not knowing if this would work or not, I only scotch taped it on. :) {Please excuse the very dirty table, as soon as it warms up I will clean all the glue off of it!}
I used 3 different carts for the flowers: Serenade, Pagoda and Sweet Treats. All the flowers with lose petals (not glued down) I ran my thumb nail over them to give them a slight curl.
The large flowers with the blue base were cut from Serenade at 2 3/4, 2 1/2, 2 1/4 and 2. For the smaller flowers, still from Serenade, they were cut at 1 3/4. I used stickles and a white gel pen on some of them.
For the large flowers with the pink base, I used Pagoda. The large were cut at 2 3/4, 2 1/2 and 2 1/4. The small ones with the dark pink base were cut at 1 3/4. The yellow ones were cut at 1.3, .9 and .6 on my imagine. The blue one, also cut on the imagine was cut at 3.0, 2.5, 2.0 and 1.5.
After I took these pictures, I went and used Viva Decor violet pearl pen to add purple dots.
For the large flowers with the purple base, I used Sweet Treats. They were cut at 2 1/5, 2 1/4, 2 and 1 3/4. The smaller flowers were cut at 1 3/4. I added yellow stickles to some of the centers.
I used Picturesque for the leaves. For the large flowers the leaves were cut at 2 3/4 and for the small flowers they were cut at 2. On almost all of the leaves I cut out the center leaf and used it elsewhere on the project.
The butterflies were cut from Sentimentals at 1.7 and 1.5
That brought me to the fun part... using the hot glue gun with 3 cats!! 1 of them is fearless and will stick her nose in everything she shouldn't. Not much different than my kids when they were little! LOL
FYI ~ the scotch tape I used on the ribbon worked just fine!! For those of us who can't make all those pretty 3D paper flowers (I hope I'm not the only one!!), these are a great alternative. Thanks for looking!

Shall We?
This is a leftover container from my Christmas Party. Instead of trying to
remove the label, let's just cover it up.
I used my Cricut Imagine to make my new label. I used the Cricut Imagine
cartridge Lori's Garden to print the color and patterns onto the shapes.
Scissors from the Sentimentals Cartridge.
Flowers from the Cricut Shall We Dance cartridge.
Dress form from the Cricut French Manor cartridge.
Now you just need a piece of cardstock that will cover the label.
I inked up the edges to give it some character. You can dab a Q-tip on the
pad to get into tight spots.
Glue everything on and you're done!
Some Things I Used
- Cricut
Cartridge Shall We Dance - Cricut
Cartridge French Manor - Cricut Cartridge Sentimentals
- Cricut Imagine Cartridge Lori's Garden
- Glue
- Ink pad
- Q-tips
- Empty Container
I was thinking of using this
container to keep my buttons and other sewing notions.

Not your typical Shall We Dance Vignette!
aMerry Christmas! It's Nadia from With Glittering Eyes! I would love to share a two-part Christmas project I have created using Shall We Dance (along with a few other cartridges) and Post-It Full Adhesive Craft Paper. The first vignette...
To begin, I started with the figure on page 28, cut at 5-1/2" twice.
On one cut, I cut away her bottom half; on the other, I cut away her head, arms, and skirt to use as a pattern. I hand-cut a new dress, adding folds for the full skirt, long sleeves with cuffs, and a ribbon belt. I did add a bit more hair too! Stones created quick jewelry. I drew in her face instead of using the layer cuts so that I could get a little more detail.
The fainting couch is from the Heritage cart (page 49).
I cut it at 2-3/4", adding ink to create the wood detail and shading. The cart cuts a space between back and seat on the furniture, so I added a piece of black cardstock behind it. My Zig Millenium 01 fine pen allowed me to add details to the wood. I used a 5/8" punch to cut a circle from red velvet flock paper to make a bolster pillow. The Zig pen and a paper tassel I cut finish it off.
The wreath is from Joys of the Season (page 66), cut at 2". I cut the base from Post-It Craft Paper, color Evergreen (found in the Jewel Tones package). The layers are cut from regular paper. Unlike some specialty papers, the Post-It papers are easy to glue on to. This is important if you are like me and enjoy a mix of 2D and 3D effects on your projects! Additionally, this paper can be cut without cutting the liner. To do a kiss cut on this product, your machine should have the following settings: blade depth 4, speed medium (3), and pressure medium (3).
The background is a beautifully muddled printed paper. To it, I added cuts from Home Accents (cut at 1-1/4") to create a wall paper effect. I used more of the Post-It Paper to do this, saving the negative space for the next vignette. This was cut using color 'Lucky' from the Brights pack.
I popped up the figure to pull her farther off the surface with those great Ranger 1/4" pop dots, stacked to equal 1/2". Using the ATG, I glued the vignette to a mat. This finishes at 6-1/2" x 6-1/2".
The next vignette started in much the same way.
I cut two figures at 5-1/2". This figure is from page 32. Cutting away the head and limbs on one, I was able to create a pattern for a new outfit.
The figure's right arm was cut and replaced to be slightly behind her and downward. Her feet were flocked to create slippers. I drew her face on using the Zig Millenium, Sakura Jelly Roll pen, and colored pencils.
The cat is cut from Four Legged Friends at 1", flipped and without layers. I colored in the face, limbs, and tail for detail. Embroidery floss creates the ball of yarn.
The background is the negative space left over from the wall accents cut for the first vignette. I used an ink pad to give a bit of texture to the plain paper and to coordinate with the first background. I peeled the backing and placed directly onto the 6-1/2" x 6-1/2" mat cut to match the first as well. Easy and smooth adhesion is the key advantage of the Post-It paper!
I cut the desk from Sentimentals at 2", inking for detail and adhered it to the Post-It paper. I hand-cut a pet gift box. The snow globe is a couple of strips of wood veneer paper, layered and inked to make a stand and an image from Google of a nativity scene, punched in a circle and 'glittered' with Stickles.
The figure and cat were popped up with Ranger pop dots to pull them off the surface.
And here they are together.
If you would like to try out the new Post-It Full Adhesive Craft Papers, you can find 24 colors in assorted packs at larger JoAnn stores, JoAnn.com, and Amazon.com. You will love the way you can ink and stamp them! They perform perfectly with all your other decorative papers on projects, making them a must-have in your paper stash!
