It's Your Day!

Hi all my crafty friends, Brenda here from Friends Craftin with Friends.  This week at Sweet Sassy Diva we were ask to make anything with fathers in mind.  So I made a Father's day card for my DS to give to his dad.  The other 5 boys will have to come up with their own card. lol  Ok first off I grabbed my Gypsy girl and over at She's a Sassy Lady, Sheila has a great video tutorial on how to make tri fold cards like on Just A Note that came pre-installed on the E2. Go over to Sheila's blog and watch the tutorial, it is 4 videos because she walks you through it step by step!!  So I made my base using George and Basic Shapes and then welded my die cuts that I wanted to use.  Here are what my card layout and layers look like on my Gypsy girl.

I proceeded to cut out my base and score it.  Here I had a little boo boo, but I am still going to use the card.  I didn't have it on the mat correctly and lost part of the end of the card.  Oh well, I wasn't going to trash it, but just make the best out of it.  Here is what it looks like.

Next I cut all my layers out and assembled them.  Then attached them to my card base.  Here is the beer mug with the foam.  I used Smiley Cards for this die.  I wanted a little dimension to the foam so I used liquid pearls on the foam and for the "sweat" on the mug I used glossy accents. This is the side of my card that is messed up.  I should have a rounded edge on the left side but I don't.  But like I said I am making it work anyway. DH won't even notice.

I cut It's Your Day from Wild Cards and Dad came from Beyond Birthdays.

The banner came from Just A Note that is on the E2 machine. My stamped sentiment is from Paper Trey Ink.  The twine is from The Twinery and my base papers came from DCWV The Guy stack.

Well I hope you liked my card and will be inspired to make the man in your life a sweet card!

Congrats!

Hi my crafty friends, Brenda here and this week at Sweet Sassy Diva we are celebrating graduations.  Perfect timing as my 5th son (and his girlfriend) graduated from college that Saturday before Mother's Day.  It was a beautiful day for graduation.  I only wish they could shorten the speeches. lol  Anyway for my son I made a card from Wild Card, the graduation hat.  But to mix it up a little I welded the scroll to the hat.  I also add ribbon to the scroll and a twine tassel along with a metal embellishment (been in my stash forever) that has prongs that punch through the paper and then you push the prongs down.  I think it turned out pretty good, DS loved it anyway. lol  For his girlfriend and soon to be fiance, I made a Hello Kitty card using Art Philosophy for the card base, Hello Kitty Greeting for Hello Kitty in her graduation gown and Gypsy Wanderings for the sentiment.  I pop dotted Hello Kitty's pieces of her gown and hat, then popped them up on the card as well. I used white ink to ink around her graduation gown to make it stand out and it give some depth to the gown.  Using glossy accents I made her eyes shine as well as the sentiment.  I am pretty please with this card as well.  My  future DIL loved it as she loves when I make them their cards. I hope that you have gotten lots of inspiration this week here a Sweet Sassy Diva and will give some graduation cards a try too.

Here is my Gypsy showing that I welded my scroll to the hat as well as welding two if the hats together to make it a shaped card.
Here are some of the cuts, for the white die cuts I used my Spectrum Noir markers to give the cuts some depth.
Here is a close up of the tassel, yeah I know not the greatest tassel but it will do. lol  And a close up of the brad and metal embellishment.

Here is my Gypsy with Hello Kitty layout on the card base.  Nothing fancy here, no welding or anything. Simple, easy peasy!

Happy Birthday!

3 or More Cartridges! How fun is that!! I can't believe that I am saying this, but when I went to start this project I had a hard time finding images from 3 different cartridges that I thought I could put together. Sounds hard to believe, right?

I started with a card base from Wild Card cut at 5.25". This cut includes the spine piece, which I wanted in a second color so I set it up on the Gypsy so I could hide the parts I didn't want. The doily is from CTMH Art Philosophy cut at 3.35" and the butterfly is from Paper Trimmings cut at 2". I put 3 self adhesive rhinestones down the center of the butterfly and 3 in the upper corner. The sentiment - from CTMH - was stamped on white and centered in the opening from the inside. Some where in blog land I saw a great tutorial on how to stamp inside a cut out like this, but of coarse when I actually wanted to do .... couldn't find it.

As little side note... The doily was cut from the textured cardstock that Walmart sells and It cut out great. I adjusted the settings so the blade was at 6 and the pressure was on high. The mat I used was still pretty sticky so I didn't have to worry about the paper sliding around. I think I am going to experiment and see how small I get it to cut and still look good. I will let you know.

I bet that after I finish this post, I will have a revelation of 3 cart combos I could have done... oh well, I'll save them for another time!

Many Thanks Cards!

Wow, the 'wild card' theme for this week took me a while... couldn't pin down a specific thing I wanted to do. I always need thank you's so here we are :) So simple and easy to make that I am thinking I will make a few sets to have as quick gifts.
The flower border is from Holiday Cakes page 52 , cut at 1 inch from card stock from my stash. I added some dots and dashes with various gel pens. The Many Thanks is from Wild Card ( had to do it, LOL ) page 42 and is cut at 5 inches from black card stock. I made the card from Kraft card stock, sponged the edges with a brown ink and made a faux bow from white seam binding. I am thinking these easy cards are going to need a cute box of some sort for giving as a set. Guess that will be my next project.

Cute as a Button!

Good Morning! This is Jen from 3 Cats and a Bug. The theme for Sweetsassydiva's this week is buttons. It couldn't have come at a better time for me, my Grandson IS cute as a button! I started out with a frame from Sophie. I used my Gypsy and enlarged the frame to 9.67 x 8.71. I added a square with rounded corners from George and Basic Shapes at 5.3 x 4.7 and centered it in my frame. While I was cutting that out in light blue, I used my gypsy again and removed the square and then used the "hide contours" button to only cut the outside frame. I cut that in dark blue. I took a 5x7 picture and trimmed it down to fit inside the frame and glued it all together. And that's when I remembered I didn't take pictures! :/
I used country life to cut out my letters @ 2. While that was cutting, I started sorting through my buttons.
I also cut out one button from the Wild Card cartridge, cut @20. I used a piece of purple ribbon to "sew" it.
Once I glued down all my words, I picked out all my buttons. I attached them using glue dots. I added a blue bow to the top of the page. All that's left to do is find a 12 x 12 frame and hang it on my wall!
Thanks for looking!

Cheer for those Winter Blues!

Hi everyone, Mindy here from Grammies Craft Room. It's time to look those ole winter blues straight in the eye and make something out of them ! That's the theme this week at SweetSassyDiva ... make any type project that uses the Cricut and blue as the main color. I pulled out an old favorite and two new cartridges for this card. The card base is from Wild Card and is cut at 4.75. I set it up on my Gypsy so I could hide the score marks.
I added dots and accented the swirl cuts with my white gel pen. The rosette is from Ribbon and Rosettes, sized at 1.5". I welded 3 together and then 2 together. I probably could have used two cuts of the 3 welded pieces to make it just a bit fuller. I will try that next time. I punched a 1" circle from the Ballet Blue and one of the flowers from the Baja Punch from Stampin Up added a tiny flower brad to the center and hot glued it to the rosette. I cut a strip of white .75" x 11" to make the band and glued the rosette to the center.
The inside cut is from Paper Trimmings - a Cricut Circle exclusive. I have to say this is by far my favorite Circle cartridge. It has so many great features and useful cuts. This one is from the square feature cut at 4.75". The only thing I added to it was a stamped sentiment from Stampin Up. To recap the supplies need for this card: Cricut cartridges - Wild Card, Ribbon and Rosettes and Paper Trimmings. Card stock - Ballet Blue - Stampin Up , White - Walmart, Patterned - DCWV Punches -  Stampin Up - 1" Circle, Baja Flowers Birthday Stamp - Stampin UP Ballet Blue Ink - Stampin Up White Gel Pen - Sakura I hope you don't let the winter blues get you down, but instead inspire you to be creative!!! Happy Crafting !

Let's EAT!

Hi all.  Bekah from Shalomcrafts.blogspot.com here!

This time, for SweetSassyDiva's design team, I've done a mix-it-up.  It's a
BBQ theme using at least 3 different Cricut Cartridges.

I cut the body of the paper doll on 'blackout' feature.  That way, you can
use a Peachy Keen stamp to do his face.  I colored in the whites of his eye
with a white gel pen.  Peachy Keen stamps really are my favorite; they
stamp so well and they make the Cricut Paper Dolls so much cuter!

I used Everyday Paper Dolls to make the little chef and his grill.  The
banner at the top of the page is from Wild Card.  The title of "Let's Eat!"
and the soda and burger came from the Locker Talk cart.  I then matted some
4 1/4" yellow backed with 4 1/2" green for 4x4 photos and make a little mat for
journaling.

Hope you're enjoying your summer grilling!

Shalom

Celebrate Fall!

Wild Wonderland Card

Recipe:

-Graphic 45 Hallowe'en in Wonderland 8 x 8 Paper Pad

-Tim Holtz Bird Cage Die

-Cricut Cartridge Wild Card

-Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Embossing Powder

-Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Embossing Powder

-Heat Gun

-Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo

-Feathers

-Prima Lace

-Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Pearl and Tattered Leather

-I-Rock and Bling

The card is sized at 5.5"H x 4.5"T, I cut out the bottom piece of the designed paper at 5.25"H x 4.25"H and the other pieces of the designed paper I kind of just eye balled what looked good to me. I distressed the edges of the design paper with my Tim Holtz edger and then inked over it with Walnut Stain distress ink. I next cut out all of the pieces with my Cricut and Sizzix Big Shot. For the leaves, the scallop layer and the sentiment I used the Wild Card Cricut cartridge (cut out at 6"T) and for the bird cut out I used the Tim Holtz bird cage die (the bird was cut out on medium weight chipboard). Next, I embossed the leaves, the bird and the sentiment with Tim Holtz Distress Embossing powder and then sprayed it with Pearl Glimmer Mist. This gave it an amazing duo color tone. I then finished it off with some Prima Lace and some I-Rock bling.

Welcome to my G-Spot!

Welcome to my first official blog. This is my Gypsy Spot where I will post my latest creations. With my new Gypsy, I am not limited to the computer to create. I can create anywhere whether at my son's sporting events, swimming or sitting in the doctor's office. Where is your favorite spot to create?

My first project was for the contest by Gypsy and Michael's craft store. I made a thank you card that I used for my daughter's christening.
