Here's a card I made for a friend whose baby was being christened yesterday. I followed the lovely sketch from Sketch Saturday:And here's my card:I used the gorgeously cute Ellie stamp from Stamposaurus Stamps which I coloured with my pro-markers. I used dp from Craft Creations and ran the pink piece through my cuttlebug swiss dots folder (I don't use that enough!) I cut the image with my oval nesties with a scalloped oval behind and doodled some dots with my white glaze pen. A wee bit of pink gingham ribbon, a few punched flowers and a bit more doodling and there you have it!Here's a close-up of Ellie:I followed an element of the sketch for the inside too:Oh, I forgot about the little crystal flower on the front, you can sort of make it out here, it really added a bit of sparkle to the card!So there you are, I hope you liked it! I'm still up to my eyes with my friends wedding invitations so not sure when I'll have another card to show. But I'll try to keep up with my hopping in the meantime!Happy crafting!
It was my sister's birthday yesterday, so I thought I'd use the oppurtunity to bring out my -yet unused - Gorjuss Girls!I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed colouring them. Here's the 8x8 card I made:The card blank is from Craftwork Cards, as are the little card candy spot things. I coloured my gorgeous girl with my pro-markers. the papers are basic grey Sultry and the brown velvetty spotty paper is Doodlebug Designs. I used my new retro flower punch for the flowers.I used the sketch from Tiets at The Sugar Bowl:Here's the inside:The colour theme I used fits the challenge at Cute Card Thursday which is marshmallows and chocolate - which funnily enough is what you call the colours of the set of card candy that I used! So it was perfect!I hope you all had a lovely Easter - and didn't eat too much chocolate!
I was very cross with myself for missing the second challenge from Sketch and Stash - So I decided to get in early with this one! I actually had it mostly made last night but just had a few finishing touches to do tonight. This is the sketch:And my card:A really lovely sketch! My new stash??? Pretty much everything!! New (for me!) Sugar Nellie Stamp "choose", New papers - which were a freebie for subscribing to "Quick and Crafty" magazine, new ribbon (Anita's) and it's the first time I used those brads even though I've had them a while - don't know the brand, sorry! And I also used my new mega nesties!I coloured the image with H2O's and stardust pens, shaded with distress ink and highlighted with a glaze pen.Glancing down my list of challenges I see that it fits a couple of others too!Charisma Cardz challenge was to use black and white and one other colour... mine was pink! I didn't notice that the card fitted this challenge until I had it made!!Daring cardmakers wanted to see 3 different patterned papers, I have 2 on the front and another on the inside - I hope that counts!!Our creative corner wanted to see heart and Papertake weekly wanted to see hearts and flowers (there are flowers on the backing paper!) It's hard to miss hearts on a card at this time of year!!Here's the inside (with the third backing paper!!)So there you are! I hope you liked it!
Yet another challenge card - I'm loving these! This time I followed the gorgeous sketch from Sketch Saturday. Here it is:I think I'll use that one again as it's so lovely! And to fit another challenge in I went for Arty Girlz challenge which is called "Button It!" - speaks for itself really! So here my try..I was much happier with the finished card this time than I was with my last card - although I think it looks better IRL - always the way!I used backing papers from Glitz Design and Rayher and Core'dinations - all bought at a local craft shop.I ran the punched circle of core'dinations through my cuttlebug and then sanded the embossed bits slightly.I also added a floradoodle bought from Joanna Sheen's shop and added a button (from stash - probably off a coat or something!) and a little dress charm from MAC.I finished it off with a few brads from stash - (I don't know where I got them, I just emptied them into my brad box!) and my very-much-used "Happy Birthday" stamp by Anita's.I thinks that's that all covered. I almost made a card using no stamps at all, but then I added the Happy Birthday! Here's the inside:I hope you like it!
I went to make a card for Holly - which I thought would be easy given the fact that she has quite a festive name! But I found it quite hard to make holly look babyish. This is what I came up with:I have added an extra piece of silver mirri on the inside with more holly stamped and coloured with sakura glaze pens. I added this after I had given the card to Holly never mind after I took the photo!!I had the "Holly" wording which came with the bauble stamp from Joanna Sheen, and I stamped and embossed it with sticum powder and stuck pink glitter to it. The baubles were stamped and glittered onto acetate and slotted through each other to create a 3D type bauble to hang in the aperture of the card. The sentiment was printed onto pink vellum and (working quickly) I applied the sticum powder and glitter to it.It wasn't quite what I was looking for but I suppose it turned out OK.I hope you like it!!
This is the last card I made for Holly. I made it for my little sister Rachael to give even though it is by far my favourite of the three - but hey that's me! (Sinead knows I made them all anyway!!)
I used punch stardream card and made it into an A5 gatefold card. I stamped and embossed a flower stamp with holographic embossing powder down the right flap. I then used an image (again from Joanna Sheen's Baby Love CD - I've got my money's worth from this CD!!) and decoupaged the little girl and the balloon. I also added some pink and white sakura glaze pens and some clear sakura stardust pen over the dots around the picture - the glaze pens leaving a slight texture.I mounted some of the corresponding backing paper onto silver mirri card and attached it to the left flap. Then I placed a magnet on the inner right flap, closed the card and more or less just dropped the other magnet on top. I made sure that the magnets would be placed where they would be hidden.I mounted the image using foam pads over the backing paper and hiding the magnet. I also added a couple of sentiments. For the inside I mounted some silver mirri and some more of the corresponding backing paper on the inside of the flaps - hiding the other magnet.I also made a little waterfall piece also mounted onto silver mirri (to hide the back of the brads). And then I got Rachael to sign where you pull the tab to animate the waterfall.
So that's it. Thanks for looking!
This is another card that I made for Holly - this one was from Ma & Da so therefore for their Grand-daughter!
It's another image from Joanna Sheen's Baby Love CD and this time I punched out the face of the angel from the unused largest image using a square punch and another from some mount board. I mounted the picture up and tripple embossed it using holographic powder to give it a really nice sparkly effect. I coloured around the edges to correspond with the colour of the card and then carefully attached it to the main picture. I also painted the wing with a white H20 paint.I mounted the image onto the matching backing paper from the CD and some mirri card along with some cream feathers sticking out from behind.I made up an embellishment using some more of the feathers and stamped and embossed a flourish stamp - with white powder on pink vellum and with pink powder on white vellum. I cut around these and attached them to the feathers with wire. I tied a ribbon around the wire and curled a little flower onto the ribbon (this used to be for your hair!). I attached the embellishment using silicone glue.I added the sentiments which were printed and mounted on mirri card, and in the words of Gordon Ramsey - Done!
So, I managed to fit in making some cards for the new baby - I've been so busy lately I don't know how I did it!I was inspired by Suzanne's wonderful ideas to make my card and a small present. You can see her blog here.So first of all I made little cards with matching envelopes which are simply printed, scored, cut, folded and stuck. They are from Joanna Sheen's Baby Love CD.Then I made a box to put them in - I was able to make the cards, envelopes and the base of the box before the baby was born as they aren't gender specific! Then I just had to make and decorate the lid of the box! Again the images are from the Baby Love CD and match the cards. I coloured around the heart with a pink Sakura gelly roll glaze pen to make it a lovely purple colour.
Then I made my card to match the present. I printed out the sheet of toppers from the Baby Love CD and cut around one of the biggest hearts. Again, I coloured the blue edge of the heart with the pink pen and carefully stuck DS tape as close to the edge as I could get it (between the scallops I snipped the tape and stuck it back on itself.)I then got a piece of pink glitter card and folded it in half and then the two side in half again to make a pop out piece for the inside of the card. Then, I stuck the heart to the pop-out piece carefully lining it up with the centre line. Using a sharp blade I cut around the heart shape leaving the scalloped edge attached to the pop-out piece. I then attached the whole piece to some pink mirri card folded with the mirri to the inside.I kept the cut out heart and used it to decoupage the topper for the front of the card and added a few other embellishments to the front before finishing the inside using one of the smaller toppers mounted onto a circle of card and attaching it to the pop-out with jump rings. I also wrote the date the baby was born onto the back of the circle. This is the front of the card:
And this is the inside of the card:
So that was my card. I'll add a couple of others later! Thanks for looking!x
