Ruffled Wedding

Wednesday, 22 June 2011

I’m slowly but surely getting through all I need to get through – the problem is I keep adding things to my list, so it’s not getting any shorter!!

Time to mark another thing off my list by posting something on my blog and trying to get caught up...again!

So, a card!...

Two of my current favourite things on this card! It’s a twisted easel (again! I’ll soon get sick of them!) and I love the technique used with the ribbon – even if the ribbon on this card is a little dark.

Here’s the card

The image was a freebie from Imag-e-nation. I coloured it with my usual copics. I then went over the swirls on the handbag with a gluepen and added some glamour dust. I also painted on some Stampin’ Up! champagne mist ink to some of the flowers – it gives a lovely shimmer to the image.

The papers are from the Basic Grey Nook & Pantry paper pad. I added a pocket to the inside for the gift. A mixture of Waltzing Mouse and computer generated sentiments.

I’m not sure what happened the light when I took this picture.

I’m entering this in the following challenges;

Crafts 4 Eternity: Embellishments beginning with R (Ribbon)

Crafty Catz: Fancy Folds - more than 1 fold on your card (2 folds on a twisted easel)

Delightful Challenges: Anything Goes (anything went!)

Paper Sundaes: Easel or twisted easel (ta-daa!!)

Birthday Bling!

Sunday, 15 May 2011

It was one of my crafty friend’s 30th birthday, so I wanted to make her card special. As one of my new loves are twisted easel cards, I thought I’d go for one of those

The image is a Whipper Snapper stamp imaginatively named “Little girl with dotted present”. Coloured with copics. The sentiment is a Wild Rose Studio stamp.

The banners are stamps from a Waltzing Mouse set called Bitty Banners. The papers are from MME Tickled Pink pad. The big diamante 30 is from a local craft supplier.

The sentiment on the inside (which is also the outside when the card is open!) is a Stampin’ Up! stamp surrounded by another WM stamp from the Bitty Banners set. I made a rosette by sewing up one edge of a length of ribbon and pulling it tight and sewing it closed.

Twisted Sister

Friday, 13 May 2011

I always love trying new techniques and new folds. When I saw this ‘twist’ on the regular easel cards I thought it looked difficult – how wrong was I?!! I love making these cards now; I think it’s one of my favourite types of cards at the moment.

So here’s my first attempt at a twisted easel - a birthday card for my sister

Like the original easel card, it’s very difficult to photograph!

The image I used is from Sketching Stamper and is called Valentina. I coloured her with my copics and teamed her with papers from the MME Stella & Rose pad. I love the vintagy feel of it.

Photobucket

I finally got a lace border doo hickey (have wanted one forever, but they’re so expensive!) and I after I cut a few strips I ran them through my paper crimper and scrunched it up. Then I attached it to the card with some extra sticky tape.

Photobucket

The sentiments are from Waltzing Mouse and I added a few blue Swarovski’s for a bit of bling. I also used up some of the scrap paper on the sentiments. I added a pocket to the inside underneath the flap to hide some money in – the recipient found it incredibly quickly though!!
