Mousey Wedding

Tuesday, 25 March 2014

Hello everyone!

What a difference a day makes, to the weather anyway!  Yesterday was wild and today is lovely - lets hope I haven't jinxed it!
It's my mum's birthday on Thursday and then Mother's Day on Sunday and, organised as ever, I have nothing for her yet!  She is so hard to buy for too, I don't know what to get for her, so any suggestions, please share!!

We have a new challenge today at the Creative Card Crew and I missed the last one cos I had the flu so it's nice to be back!

This fortnight we have 2 sponsors again, the first one being one of our regulars, The Scrapping Center
http://www.scrappingcenter.com/
With a $15 voucher for one lucky winner

And our second sponsor is the fabulous Whiff Of Joy!
http://www.whiffofjoy.ch/
Who are offering 4 digi's to another winner!!

The challenge we have for you this time is...

Animals!

Great or small, we want to see them all!

We were given images to work with by our sponsor so my animals are of the small variety!  Here's what I did..

I made a diamond fold card - I think that's the name for them, it's a while since I made one of these but they are so easy and look fab!  They are difficult to get right in photo's though.

My image is by Whiff of Joy and is called Happy Couple.  I coloured them (very quickly!) with the following Copics: Mice; E44,43,41. Suit; E49,47,44. Dress; E40. Flowers; RV29,25,23.YG17,13. Ears & tail; E21,13,000.

The papers are Melissa Frances, 5th Avenue and I thought it would be nice to mount the image on a rosette, so I used 2 strips of left-over base card stock and started folding!  The sentiment is computer generated and the font is Curlz.

I added a few diamante's here and there for a bit of that all important bling!  There's space on the back for a written greeting.

So that's my animal card, I hope you can join us at the Creative Card Crew - go check out the rest of the DT's fab work to get you started!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Crafts 4 Eternity; Anything goes
Craft For The Craic; Something green
Crafty Catz; Bling it up
Eureka Stamps Challenge Blog; No square cards
Moving Along With The Times; Photo inspiration
Patties Creations Design Challenge; Anything goes
Stampin For The Weekend; Anything goes

Happy World Card Making Day!

Saturday, 5 October 2013

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all well?  I've had a busy few days as I've finally got around to setting up an Etsy store for my cards and a Facebook page too.  I have links on my left side-bar if any of you fancy a look ;)

I've also had a lot of personal cards and quite a few commissioned cards to make lately (still have a difficult one to do) so I'm gonna show you one of  the commissioned ones today.
The brief was for a couple who were going to Las Vegas to get married but it wasn't to be a traditionally wedding-y card.  I had a quick pop of inspiration and this is what I came up with...

I decided to make a play on the Welcome To Las Vegas sign and make it personal!
And, cos I think they always make a special card, I made it an easel card.

I drew the shape of the sign and cut it out by hand after I printed some of the wording (fonts: Brush script, Batang and Calibri).  I used card candy for the circles and used Craftwork Cards Candi Alphabet stamps for the names of the couple.  The "Wedding Day" is made of die cut letters using Memory Box Typewriter alphabet sets in upper & lower case.  The star is a Joanna Sheen Signature die and the Magnolia swirl doohickey came in handy again!  The black background was embossed with a start embossing folder and I have used lots of gems all around the sign and elsewhere.

For the base I made some poker chips by die-cutting some circles out of red card and some more out of white card which I also cut a centre circle.  I used a red copic to colour some stripes around the white O shape and then I adhered it to the red circle.  I die cut some numbers (Memory Box typewriter numbers - I knew it was a good idea to buy the full set! lol!) in white card and attached to the base chips.  I had a spare deck of cards that I pinched some out of (all hearts of course, it is a wedding card!) and attached them also.  I cut out another shape to resemble the sign for the greeting and added more gems and a pocket for the gift and hey presto, a Vegas themed wedding card!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Crafty Catz; Anything goes
Creative Inspirations; No square or rectangle cards
Delicious Doodles; Shaped cards
Kaboodle Doodles; Your special day
Moving Along With The Times; Anything goes
Papertake Weekly; Anything goes
Southern Girls Challenge Blog; Sing, Sing a song... Viva Las Vegas!
ABC Challenge Blog; W for words
Totally Gorjuss; Anything goes with stars

Wedded Bliss

Sunday, 7 April 2013

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all well?  It has warmed up a lot here since my last post and almost all the snow from around my house has gone, but there's still a lot over the Mourne Mountains a few miles away.  Lot's of people are enjoying it by going up and skiing etc, but I'm afraid that's not for me!
Apparently there has even been an avalanche!  I've never heard of there being an avalanche in our wee mountains before and luckily no-one was near it.

Time for another Pink challenge at Eclectic Ellapu and it's our lovely Claire's turn to host.  The challenge she has chosen for the next week is...

Wedding, Engagement or Anniversary!

A fab challenge for this time of year as there are always so many weddings taking place!

Speaking of which, my card was made for my cousin and his lovely bride who got married last week on Easter Monday!  Of course we all wondered up until the bitter end if it was all an elaborate April Fool, but so far, it seems legit!  Lol!

I made an Easel card

My most-used-ever stamp is You & Me Baby by Tiddlyinks.  I adjusted the print colour to sepia before I printed it and coloured it with the following copics:  Skin: E21,13,00,0000,R20. Hair and clothing: E39,37,35,33,31,30,29,R39,07,Blender.

I printed the sentiments along with the image by adding them on Powerpoint.  I also printed the names onto corresponding card.  The corner swirly stamp is a mixture of two - the bigger one is a LOTV clear stamp and the smaller one is by Magnolia.  The die is Decorative Labels 8 from Spellbinders.
I don't know the manufacturer of the paper as it is a really old one from my stash and there was no name on it.  The pearls and lace are from my stash and I distressed everything (including the lace) with Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo distress inks.

I added a place to write your greeting under the easel with a computer generated sentiment.  The sentiment on the mini tag is from Wild Rose Studio.  I also added a little pocket for a gift to be enclosed.

So go take a look at the fab inspiration from the rest of the DT at Eclectic Ellapu!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

By The Cute & Girly; Vintage
Delicious Doodles Challenge: More than 1 fold
Papercrafting Journey; Monochromatic
Stamp & Create Challenge; Use at least 1 die cut
Tuesday Alchemy; Over the pastel rainbow
Tiddlyinks Challenge; Distress

Twice In One Day!

Sunday, 6 January 2013

Well, it's 11:30pm when I started typing so I hope it'll make it into today!

I was lucky enough to be picked as a top 3 in one of Quirky Crafts challenges  before Christmas and got the opportunity to join them as a guest designer!  I jumped at the chance as I was disappointed that I wasn't able to join them when the same opportunity came up just when I had my accident.
Imagine my panic when I switched on my computer on Saturday after it being off for 2 weeks to see that I had an email from the lovely Cazzy with the details of the new new challenge and I was already late submitting it!
So I fired off an email to see if I was too late and Cazzy replied nice and quickly and was lovely about me being late and I was still OK.  So I printed out the fabby image she supplied from one of their sponsors for this week - Bugaboo stamps no less!  And the challenge is:

Some Thing New, with Pink!

Like a busy bee I coloured and cut and stuck and glued and this is what I came up with:

The image is Just Married by Bugaboo and I coloured it with the following promarkers: Skin: Sunkissed pink, Oatmeal, Blush, Pastel pink.  Car; Pumpkin, Amber, Apricot.  Bumper & suit; Petrol blue, Marine, Turquoise.  Heart etc; Cerise, Baby pink, Pale pink.  Tyres etc; Black, Ice grey 5,3,1.
I printed the image out 3 times and 3D'd it up for lots of dimension. (and the glue gel seems to have seeped through the image unfortunately :(  )

The papers are My Minds Eye, Tickled Pink.  I used a Spellbinder lg circle die to cut out the image and I then used a small circle punch to punch out lots of cerise and blue circles for the border around the image, finishing it off with a few gems.  The sentiment is computer generated and highlighted with a clear Sakura Stardust pen.

The inside compliments the front with scalloped dies and Memory Box Simple Banner die-cuts to match.  Again, the sentiment is computer generated.

So that's my card!  A huge thank you to Cazzy for putting up with me and to the Quirky Crafts Challenge blog for having me as a guest designer!  Short and sweet but I really enjoyed it!

Thanks for looking!

Summer Lovin'

Friday, 13 July 2012

Good afternoon everyone

It's Friday once again - Friday the 13th to be exact!!  So be careful out there!!

One nice thing about this Friday the 13th is that it's another new challenge on the Alphabet Challenge blog, this time chosen by the lovely boss - Lesley!  We're up to L and the challenge is....

L for Lace!

We didn't have very many entries last time but I'm sure there'll be more with this lovely challenge.

My card was made for my cousin who got married last week in Spain - at least she got better weather than she would've got at home, it's done nothing but rain here for weeks!
Anyway, here's my card:

I used one of my favourite digi stamps again - You & Me Baby by Tiddlyinks.
Coloured with the following copics: Skin; E21,13,00,0000,R20. Dress: RV32,10,R00,E40. Suit: B02,01,00,000,0000,G00,BG10,C2. Hair: E49,39,35,33.

The papers are by Melissa Frances from the 5th Avenue pad.  The little heart is by Magnolia and I coloured it with a clear Sakura stardust pen and stuck a little swarovski crystal to it.  The frame and corner are also by Melissa Frances.  I die cut the Spellbinder fleur de lis square with my cuttlebug and computer generated the sentiments and punched with Stampin' Up! punches.  The ribbon and lace are from my stash.

The inside uses the same papers, ribbon and lace.  The left side is a pocket for the gift and the sentiment is from Wild Rose Studios.

So that's my lacy card.  Why don't you join us in this fortnights challenge on the Alphabet Challenge Blog!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

How About Another Wedding Card?

Friday, 24 February 2012

It has been a while since I last made a wedding card - I was sick of the sight of them I had so many to make in the second half of last year, but I needed another one for a work colleague who is getting married tomorrow and I thought I would incorporate this card into my latest DT card for the new challenge at the Alphabet Challenge Blog.
Yep, we're yet another fortnight into 2012 and the new challenge is up.  This time the theme is...

B for Busy Bugs!

And as the theme on the wedding invitations were butterflies, I thought I'd stick with that.
Here's my card:

No image!  No colouring!  I thought I'd make their names the focal point of the card.  I printed out the names onto ivory stardream card, the font is Papyrus and I printed it out in brown.
The heart is a large Go Kreate heart frame die and the details are cut out with a spellbinders fancy tag.  It looks a bit wonky in the picture but I think (and hope!) it's just because the the heart is at a jaunty angle and the ribbon curves down into the buckle.  That's my story anyway!
The flowers and pearls are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I don't use the flowers very often but I think they went well with the style of this card.

The papers are from the Prima Printery collection and I distressed the edges with Frayed Burlap distress ink.  The fancy corner is a Melissa Frances embellishment that I got from My Crafty Heart (some lovely things in stock there and really fast service!)
The butterfly, silver dangly heart, buckle and ribbon are all from a local craft supplier.

The inside of the card has been decorated like so...

I used the same papers as the front and I brought the heart theme through with a die cut Joycraft heart attached to the pocket on the left hand side (for the present!)

A card with these sorts of embellishments needs a box, so I made one to match...

So that's my card and my butterfly!
Why don't you head on over to the Alphabet Challenge Blog and see what all my lovely teamies have come up with, there are some stunners on there!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Wonderful Winter Wedding

Friday, 30 December 2011

Hi everyone!  I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and have something nice planned to see in the new year.
Our Christmas break is over and it's time for another challenge on the Alphabet Challenge Blog.  We're back to fortnightly now and the challenge for this fortnight is...

X for Xtra Special Occasion!

We're also running a DT call so make sure you put your name down as I can't wait to see who my new teamies are!

Here's my project for the challenge..

Photobucket

I made this for my cousin who got married yesterday and I made their wedding stationary.  As the theme for their stationary was winter themed I went with that for their card.  Here's a close-up of the card

Photobucket

The image is from Tiddly Inks called "Me and you baby" which I coloured with copics.  I then spread glossy accents all over her dress and gave it a coat of glamour dust so it really sparkles!

Photobucket

I didn't use any design papers on this one.  Instead I cut a spellbinders wonky rectangle out of a square of card and stamped a U-Mount stamp from the Funky Floral set around the edge of the card and heat embossed some super sparkle holograph embossing powder using Versamark.
I attached some acetate to the back of the card and then used some foam tape around the shape and the edge of the card.  I put some polar white flower soft and some glamour dust into the space left over the acetate and then attached it to the card blank - making a shaker card.  A wee tip - if you give the acetate a rub with your anti static bag for heat embossing before you add the filling it will stop the glitter sticking to the acetate!
I printed out the sentiments and cut them out and attached them along with the cut out image onto the front of the card.  Everything was distressed with some iced spruce distress ink.

Photobucket

I used the same swirly stamp and embossing powder on the inside of the card and used a sentiment from Lili of the Valley on the left hand side and a Stampin' Up! one on the right hand side.

Photobucket

I also decorated a candle for them but I forgot to take a photograph before I covered it over - you can just make out the decoration through the organza

Photobucket

And here's the whole candle

Photobucket

As I said, the wedding was yesterday and it was absolutely gorgeous!  It started off a bit wet but brightened up a bit in the afternoon.  A great day was had by all!

Forgotten Wedding Card

Sunday, 18 September 2011

I forgot all about this card, I made it for my parents to give to one of the couples who got married a few weeks ago.
There's lots of pictures of this one so best get started with them!

Photobucket

I used this couple couple from LOTV, coloured with copics

Photobucket

The papers are from Basic Grey, hopscotch paper pad.  I punched a strip of butterflies with my Martha Stewart punch and added a few swarovskis for interest.

Photobucket

The flowers are a mixture of flowers from my local craft supplier and Wild Orchid Crafts.  I edged the petals with some clear stardust pen.

Photobucket

And it is, of course, a twisted easel card

Photobucket

I used my Magnolia Doo Hickey label die to cut out the computer generated sentiments.

Photobucket

And another one on the pocket on the inside for the gift

Photobucket

And a wee metal corner to finish off the bottom bit.

Photobucket

Lastly, I made a box to put it in with a matching big flower.  I attached magnets to the ends of the ribbon to hold the box closed underneath.  I didn't get a photo of the closure though.

Photobucket
