A Day Late & A Dollar Short!

Saturday, 3 November 2012

Morning everyone,

Yes, I'm a whole day late with my Alphabet Challenge Blog DT entry!  Oops!
I was trying to get something finished to go along with my entry and then I had a call about going to something that I had completely forgotten about and had to leave!  Then I didn't get home until late last night so now I'm gonna have to post my entry late and without the extra bit. :/

So I'll just get straight to the point - and a short point it will be this week too!

The challenge for the next fortnight, chosen by the lovely Tammy, is.....

T for Tags!

A tag all on its own or one on your project.  Perfect for coming up to Christmas or even anything else!

Here's what I did;

I cut a tag shape out of kraft card and covered it with paper from the DCWV Nana's Kids stack.

I used a sentiment from the Tiny New Baby sentiment sheet from Pink Petticoat which I printed onto safmat before adhering to a wee bit of kraft card and gluing to a piece of Hodgepodge Hardware from Stampin' Up! and then attaching to the tag with the supplied brads.

The letters are Making Memories Velvet Alphabet stickers.  I added some tiny stars that I had kept from a previous project - they're the left-overs from a spellbinders die.  And I finished the tag off with a piece of string and a little tiny feet charm.

I didn't get my card made to match the tag yet, so it will have to do another day!
Go and have a look at what the rest of the DT made and have a go yourself at the Alphabet Challenge Blog!  See you there!

I'd like to enter this in the following challenges:

4 Crafty Chicks; A day to remember
Anything Goes Challenge Blog; Anything goes

Ahoy There Matey...

Tuesday, 21 September 2010

It's my little nephew's 3rd birthday tomorrow and after our team lost the All Ireland final on Sunday, I decided to steer clear of the gaelic football theme...

So I decided to go with a hearty pirate theme!

Here's my card:

Photobucket

I used the fabulous "Captain Scurvy" from Kraftin' Kimmie and I coloured him with my copics. The die cut letters are from a Sizzix set called "Tina thinks you're cute" - strange name, but that's what it's called!

Photobucket

The papers I used are My Mind's Eye - The Spiders Web, Cauldron Bubbles and Witch's Lace. The wee bit of map is from Crafty Bitz. I wrapped some thin leather for making jewellery around it.

Photobucket

I used the papers again on the inside

Photobucket

I also made a tag to match

Photobucket

Again, I used stamps from Kraftin' Kimmie, coloured with Copics.

Photobucket

And here's the set

Photobucket

I'm entering this into the following challenges;
2 Sketches 4 You, A great sketch
Copic Creations, Shading on and around images - not sure if there's a limit to how often you can enter...
Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, Mostly black and white
Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge, Anything goes
The ABC Challenge, D for distressing

I hope you like it, thanks for dropping by!

Up Down!!

Saturday, 18 September 2010

We have a big weekend this weekend - It's the All Ireland Final, the senior gaelic football championship final and our county is in it for the first time in 16 years! I remember being at the final the last time we won it in 1994 and the excitement was electric!
County Down's colours are red and black - my 2 favourite colours - and the whole county is covered with flags and banners and paint - lots of buildings have been decorated especially - it's brilliant to see everyone with All Ireland Fever!
I just got my ticket last night for Croke Park and I can't wait to see Down beat Cork! Fingers crossed anyway!

It's also my Da's birthday today, so I made a card appropriate for the weekend!

Photobucket

Of course I used our county colours!

I used a download from Mo's digital pencil and I blanked the football out of the main image so as I could place it like it has just been kicked. I coloured it with my copics.

Photobucket

I didn't use any design papers as such, but the holey paper is from Creative Imaginations. The die cut swirl is a Tim Holtz/Sizzix die. I used a cuttlebug embossing folder on the red block to tie in with the circles from the rest of the card.

Photobucket

The inside is just red and black again!

Photobucket

It's also my nephews 3rd birthday on wednesday, but he's having his party today (which I'm now late for! :P) So I thought I'd stick with the theme and make a tag for the part of his present that I'm giving him today - it's a wee mini Down football strip! so cute!

Photobucket

Another image from Mo and also coloured with copics. The ribbons are from a collections of ribbons I bought ages ago and never use cos they're so narrow, but they're perfect for a tag.

Photobucket

These two projects fit a few challenges:
Alphabet Challenge Blog; U for unused stash (the ribbon on the tag)
Copic Creations; Shading on and around images
Creative Inspirations; Tag It
Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge; Anything goes (I actually followed the sketch from last weeks challenge but didn't get it blogged on time, so lucky that I can still enter this week!)
Simon Says; Move it (that ball won't move by itself!)
Stampin' For The Weekend; Tag it

That's it, I hope you like it. Thanks for dropping by!

Oh, and..... UP DOWN!!!!

Something A Little Different

Wednesday, 18 August 2010

Thought I'd better blog this before it gets too old! I keep forgetting if I've blogged something or not, so I'm gonna have a look through and see what I've missed.

This is to start...

You may remember that my cousin got married a couple of weeks ago, well I had in my head that I wanted to make something for wrapping the present so it would match my card - something to attach the tag to rather than just sticking it onto the present. My original idea wouldn't work as the present I ended up buying was too big, so I came up with this...

Photobucket

It's made using a piece of A4 card and papers to match the card. I'm still not sure if I really like it or not, but at least it adds a bit of interest to the plain red wrapping paper!

Photobucket

You can't actually tell from any of the pictures that I took, but it wraps around to the back, folding right over the corner. I attached my previously made tag to it and covered the hole with a wee heart.

Photobucket

Here's the whole set including the box for the card.

I'm entering this into 2 challenges...

The Alphabet Challenge Blog are on P for Punches - I used a scallop edge punch from Stampin' Up!.
And new challenge blog, Craft Your Days Away are looking for your favourite things. Well in this we've got 2 favourite things - Love and pressents!!

I hope you liked it, thanks for dropping by!

A nightmare of a day...

Wednesday, 21 July 2010

I've been having a horrible day today from when I got into my car to go to work, switched on the engine and you would've thought it was a washing machine full of stones!
Thankfully, where I work there is a garage and one of the mechanics was able to come out to look at it and long story short, I wasn't able to drive it.
The next thing I had to think about was getting it fixed - and I only have 3 days left on my warranty, but at least I'm 3 days on the right side of the warranty!
So, even longer story short, I'm now carless with a hire car coming (hopefully) in the next hour or so.

So please wish Bert well!

Anyway, on to a card.
This is the second card I've made for my cousin who's getting married at the end of the month.

I used the lovely sketch, that I think I might use again, from Just Magnolia.

Here's my card

Photobucket

I used this Tilda, who I think is meant to be a princess, but I thought she could get away with being a bride! I coloured her with my Copics.

Photobucket

The hearts are die cuts - a mixture of nesties and Cuttlebug. I glazed the inside of the top heart for a bit of bling! Flowers and ribbon from stash - the wee metal embellishments on the ribbon is from Stampin' Up! and the papers are Basic Grey, Sugar Rush.

Photobucket

And this is the inside

Photobucket

I also made a tag to match the card

Photobucket

Using the same heart dies as on the main card. I did glaze the top heart on the tag too, but not until after I took the photo.

And here's the set

Photobucket

Again, I made a box, but haven't taken a photo, I just added more of the same hearts onto it.

I hope you like it, thanks for dropping by!

Mother's Day Tag

Tuesday, 24 March 2009

I almost forgot about this!!

I made a snazzy tag to go with the card for my mum for mother's day. I used my flower nesties through my cuttlebug and edged them with distress inks and a line of clear stardust pen. I added a couple of daisy punches and Swarovski crystals for the centre of the flowers - the biggest flower has a huge crystal!! I mounted it all on to a square of corresponding card with a length of ribbon to attach it to the pressie. I made a tag and stamped with a mother's day sentiment. A few leafy punched shapes and Bob's your uncle!

Photobucket

Photobucket

It was a little odd that she didn't want to open the present!! lol!

It fits a few challenges.

One Stop Craft Challenge want to see a tag on your work.

ABC are up to F and want to see flowers.

And Cuttlebug Challenges - be inspired - want to see you use punches along with your bug.

5. Blogger - blogging, but mostly hopping!
6. Chocolate. Mmmm!
7. TV. There are several new series just started that I love!

And now the hard part! List 7 people to pass the award on to. I've tried to make sure I haven't doubled anyone up or given it to anyone who has already recieved it!

Annie at Ink 'n' Rubba
Chrissie at Chrissie's Card Creations
Dawn at Crafty Ramblings

From my Flora and Fauna folder...

Photobucket

This is Bush and she's our cat. She was born here and we've had her for many years. She's also had a hard time - as we live beside a main road and she's been hit by a car twice. The first time she lost her right eye and her back legs were badly damaged and the second time (just over a year ago) she broke one of her back lags and had to have her tail removed. Even though she's gone through all this, and she's a fair old age, she's still lovely!

So, I'm now tagging:
Andria at Iona Rose Designs
Bernie at Crafty b
Edna at Edna's Place
Jak at Crafter's Kitchen
Kym at Kym's Crafty Cards
Lesley at The Messy Crafter.
