BE INSPIRED!

Today I am bringing you some cards I made for Soul Scrappers CC43 Affirmations.  The challenge calls for creating three cards with positive messages.  Here are mine -

I hope that you will stop by the challenge and consider creating a few of your own to share.

Thanks for stopping by.  All comments gratefully appreciated.

CARDS! CARDS! CARDS!

Today I have a few cards to share with you.  The first two were for my Using Up Scraps challenge over at Soul Scrappers UUS18.  The challenge calls for using up metal.  As scrappers we have lots of metal in our stash already like brads, eyelets, metal sentiments and then there are plenty of other metal around the house that also could be used on cards, layouts and 'off-the-page' projects like paperclips, washers, bottle caps, wire, broken jewelry and more!

Here are my cards-

Here I used eyelets and a metal word.  (The butterfly appears metal but it's not!)

Here I used brads and another metal word.

Next is a card that I created for my Pastor from the congregation as she will soon be leaving us for a new church.  The size of the card was poster board folded in half.  I created the front using spray inks and mists.

Then I have this awesome metal cross that I felt would be great inspiration for the front.

It was a bit larger than the card but I decicded to use that and my favorite Pitt pen and traced the openings for the design.

and finally I added the beginning of one of my very favorite scriptures, Jeremiah 29:11.  I did this not only because I love it but because my Pastor shared with me that when she got the call offering her the change she prayed and opened her bible to this scripture and knew that the call was indeed divinely inspired.

I am entering this into
Word Art Wednesday challenge #187.

My last card uses sketch #401 from Mojo Monday and was created for a family friend who graduated high school last week.

Here is the sketch-

and my card!

and a few close ups-

I am also entering this card in Craft for the Craic June challenge - the Big Occasion!

I hope you have enjoyed my cards! Tonight I hope to work on a layout, or maybe a mixed media piece!  I'd love it if you would leave a comment to let me know you were here and what you thought of my projects!

A FEW NEW CREATIONS FOR THE NEW YEAR!

Welcome back to my creative space.  Today I am going to share a few cards and a layout that I created the other day.

Both cards are for Soul Scrappers challenge #CC36, Snow or Sun.  The challenge was to create a card with snow or sun in mind.  I did one of each.

My first one for snow:

I just loved the snowflake paper from the Graphic 45 Nutcracker collection and those cute little penguins and polar bear - who could resist them right?  I am also going to share this card over at Word Art Wednesday for challenge #164 Anything Goes.

And now for my sunny day card -

While I was in Ohio back in September we went to a wonderful specialty stamping shop and I picked up this template to create a flip-flop card.  That of course is how this started out but...I am terrible with that scoring tool and ended up slicing one of the feet right off.  Rather than just waste it I decided to use it a different way.  On my way home from Ohio I discovered my very first Hobby Lobby store.  I had picked up some great clear stickers and resins there and I thought this sentiment would be perfect for the feel of the card.

Last I created a monochromatic layout for this weeks challenge at Let's Get Sketchy.  I used the January sketch from Stuck?!Sketches

Here's the sketch:

I chose to rotate the sketch 1/4 turn clockwise to accommodate my photos.  This is the first page of a series showing my son Thomas getting his first tattoo.  Normally I would have not allowed him to get one at such a young age (16) but his father died in August and this was in memory of his Dad for the many good times they spent fishing together.

Here is my layout:

I can't tell you how many photos I took trying to get a really good shot of this page and I am still not happy.  The close ups which I will share were much better and you can see the true colors in them.

Having to share my creations from the computer at the library makes it difficult to know what the photos look like full size as I only get to see them on my phone before arriving.  I will try to get some better photos to share of this page and replace these tomorrow!

I hope 2015 is off to a good start for you!  I realized that 2014 was not a stellar year for creating for me only having done 6 art journal pages and a much smaller number of layouts and cards than I usually do.  I hope to get back on track creatively and have much more to share with you this year!

As always, comments are greatly appreciated and thanks for stopping by!

TWO MORE

Yesterday I completed two more cards for the shut-ins at my church.  So far I haven't gotten to any today as I worked today and tonite I went to an outstanding event called Via Doloroso - the story of Christ from the Last Supper to the Crucifiction.  If you ever get to attend one I would highly recommend it.  It was very powerful.  I also still have not completed all of my taxes so I have to get back to work at that.

The first used the sketch #215 from Sweet Sketch Sunday

.

I used polka dots and stripes (and Easter eggs) for challenge 214 - Easter Sweetness over at The Shabby Tea Room, Easter eggs for challenge  #C4C231at Crazy4Challenges Get your Egg on!, challenge TPE246 Easter at The Pink Elephant, and Spring is in the Air challenge #1 using layers over at Sketches4All.

LAST TWO FOR THE NIGHT!

I was able to sneak in two more fun challenges for the Colorful Creations Pot of Gold Blog Hop.  The first one was for Tabitha's Inspired by Rainbows challenge.

Here is the inspiration piece:

The center section of my card is actually a light purple but I just couldn't get it to photograph well.

Here is my card:

And my final creation for the evening was for Libby's Challenge.  The requirements were to use the word Lucky as well as to include ribbon, buttons and a banner.
