A DAY IN THE PARK! A LAUGH! MORE FROM THE BEACH 1996! and A PROMISE!

Last weekend Thomas found this punk show he wanted to see in a big park in Philadelphia.  It was a beautiful day so I grabbed a pad of watercolor paper and a bunch of mediums to play with.

Here's a bit of what came out of my afternoon... (please remember that I do NOT have any raw drawing talents so this was actually a big deal!)

THE PARK

This was the spot I ended up sitting in...

Watercolor crayons

Derwent Inktense blocks

THE LAUGH!

And now I have a funny to share -

Is this not simply THE cutest?

THE BEACH!

My first layout uses sketch #44 from
Make It Monday at The Memory Nest

I rotated the sketch 1/4 turn to the left, and I used 2 photos instead of 3 because of their orientation.

A PROMISE!

My next layout is for the design team call over at Let's Get Sketchy!

So first I will tell you a little bit about the call in case you also want to submit a creation of your own. Let's Get Sketchy is a sketch blog owned by Brenshevia Baker, previously owner of the Ning site Colorful Creations.   She is very talented and a lot of fun to work with.  As a DT on this site you will need to complete 2 layouts per month, comment on all entries to the challenges and post the challenges on your blog.

Full details can be found in the post at: http://letsgetsketchy.blogspot.com/2015/07/lets-get-sketchy-design-team-call.html?spref=fb

There were 2 sketches to choose from. Here is the one I deciced to use.

and here is my layout -

I loved this saying and thought it was perfect... after all, not many of us get to truly enjoy a really rainy day...but getting an opportunity to see this most spectacular rainbow reminded me that if you are not ready to enjoy all your minutes you could miss out on something as amazing as this rainbow!

The circle was cut from a wonderful clear acrylic sheet with tiny lavender dimensional dots.

Here you can see the 2 fun embossing folders I used if you can pull your eyes away from that spectacular rainbow!

Truly a PROMISE from God.

I am also entering this layout in
Word Art Wednesday challenge #192.

A SPECIAL CALL

Today's first layout is for a special call - specifically a Design Team call over at Sketches in Thyme.  I have just discovered this site and absolutely loved the clean and simple lines of the sketch for the call.  I chose a recent photo of me from a whale watching trip that Michael and I made earlier this month.  No...didn't get any photos of the whales - in fact, because of the impending hurricane we did not get out far enough to even see any whales this time.  We did see several hundred dolphin and well, not a great photo but I did catch a dolphin tail before it disappeared back under the water.  Keep watching my blog and I'm sure you will get to see it.  Here is the sketch:

and here is my take on it:

I used some great papers I had on hand by SEI as well as Tim Holtz tissue tape and Distress Ink, some navy  and white cardstock, and a few gems.  It came together quick and easy and seems just perfect for that photo.

Hope that you enjoyed your first glimpse of my whale watching trip - more to follow soon!

PLAYING AT A DESIGN FOR THE TEAM!

Over at the Child's Play Blogspot they are having a Design Team call.  I have been having so much fun designing some layouts based on favorite children's toys and books that I decided I would take a chance and try out for the team.  The challenge for the call is to build a layout inspired by the following fun child's toy:

Although we did have this toy when my boys were young I couldn't locate an unscrapped photo of either of them walking and running with it so I decided to take my inspiration from the balls that pop up and down on the inside of the toy.  In wanting to keep the theme with balls I came across a cute photo of my youngest and his cousin playing in the Small Fry Ball Pit at a McDonald's back in 1999.  I hope to have captured some of the popping movement of the balls around the photo by not spacing them evenly and by having some jump in front of others the way they would in the toy.

Here's my take-

Hope you have enjoyed seeing my take on the inspiration and I will keep my fingers crossed on making the team!  Wish me luck!
