TAG! YOU'RE IT!

Tags are such a fun way to share a bit of our creativity.  Here are a few tags I have made this past week.

First is my Irish fairy.  I sent her to a good friend and how perfect that she arrived today -
St. Patrick's Day!

Here is my Spring Flowers tag for the Bring on Spring Flowers swap on Addicted to Paper Dolls.

and a close-up of the fun felt flowers with
a sparkly bead center-

And for Carol's Extra Tag Swap Disney over at Paper Doll Trading I created this-

I dressed my doll just like Minnie Mouse and used some fun Disney papers and embellishments.

And finally-
for the Star Doll - Use Your Mixed Media challenge over at Paper Doll Trading I created this-

I used a back ground of 3 different colors of modeling paste that was covered with a thin coat of a sparkly Stickles and a wash of watered down white acrylic paint.

I added this cute little felt and chipboard saying

and some fun feathers and a flair button that says 'Happy'

I hope that you have enjoyed my latest paper doll creations! I'd love to hear what you think so oplease do leave a comment!

LET IT GO!

Todays theme for the Scraps to Treasures Team is to use a song to create something with our scraps. The song Robin chose is called 'Let It Go' from the Disney movie "Frozen".

After reviewing the lyrics I decided that I would be making a mixed media art journal page.

The Lyrics:

The snow glows white on the mountain tonight,
not a footprint to be seen.
A kingdom of isolation and it looks like I'm the queen.
The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside.
Couldn't keep it in, Heaven knows I tried.
Don't let them in, don't let them see.
Be the good girl you always have to be.
Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know.
Well, now they know!
Let it go, let it go!
Can't hold it back any more.
Let it go, let it go!
Turn away and slam the door.
I don't care what they're going to say.
Let the storm rage on.
The cold never bothered me anyway.
It's funny how some distance,
makes everything seem small.
And the fears that once controlled me, can't get to me at all
It's time to see what I can do,
to test the limits and break through.
No right, no wrong, no rules for me.
I'm free!
Let it go, let it go.
I am one with the wind and sky.
Let it go, let it go.
You'll never see me cry.
Here I'll stand, and here I'll stay.
Let the storm rage on.
My power flurries through the air into the ground.
My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around
And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast
I'm never going back; the past is in the past!
Let it go, let it go.
And I'll rise like the break of dawn.
Let it go, let it go
That perfect girl is gone
Here I stand, in the light of day.
Let the storm rage on!
The cold never bothered me anyway...

I gessoed my page and then used several shades of blue spray inks and paints for my background.  I decided to use the title, 'Let It Go', and the line 'the past is in the past' .  I selected white and silver sticker letters to add that to the lower part of my page.

I selected a pile of red scraps-

and I got out my Sizzix Ransom Alphabars.

From the scraps I cut letters for feelings that belonged in the past.

anger
pain
hate
fear
rage
terror

I used both the letters and the negatives to form the words which I adhered randomly to the top portion of the page.

I covered the whole page with Matte ModPodge.

And here it is-

Be sure to go over to the Scraps to Treasure team page and see what the rest of the team has created from this musical inspiration.

COLORFUL CREATIONS RECIPE BLOG CHALLENGE

If you are here for It's Christmas in July click here http://preciouspagesbypaula.blogspot.com/2012/07/its-christmas-in-july.html
or for I'm a Ginger Snap Scraps Girl Blog Hop Day 2 click here http://preciouspagesbypaula.blogspot.com/2012/07/im-ginger-snap-girl-blog-hop-day-2.html

Colorful Creations has re-opened their blog and is starting off with a wonderful fun challenge.  I used their recipe to cook up my multi-seasonal layout.
1) one photo
2) some squares
3) At least two types of lettering or fonts
4) flowers

The fun part for me was the combination of summer and winter - which actually was the theme of the photo.  The photo was taken at Disney's Blizzard Beach - a fun ski resort themed water park.  My layout is winter themed starting with a base page with embossed snowflakes which I sanded, a photo mat of snowflakes, some lace snowflakes, a large snowflake diecut.  But to this I added a flower in the center of the diecut as well as a strip of lace flowers on a gingham ribbon along the bottom edge.  To complete the recipe I used some thickers letters which I added some liquid pearls to for the title, and some letter stickers on the bottom for the date.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Keep Cool.
