Four stitches later
I am sorry there is no photo tonight. I tried four different stitches trying to create my doily. I did not like any of them!! I started one more very simple stitch before giving up and think I have found the one! Photo and details tomorrow. Oh, but I am using 2 strands of Mandarin 800-white!

Well, sometimes the first stitch isn't The Right Sttitch. Hope you aren't too frustrated.
I have doilies in my "needlepoint lace" repertoire. I'll see if I can find the file. I use real Irish lace as an inspiration, and use a lot of smyrna crosses, Leviathans, and that sort of thing - it's simple, especially as you have that "counting" kind of mind.
