Mariposa Reframed

This was originally framed with a pink frame and gold filet around the mat and it did not go where I thought I would hang it....see side of the blog and look for Mariposa and you will see the changes we made.  The silver frame has touches of the purple in it to pop the stitching now.

Mariposa framed

I picked up Mariposa from the framer.  The inner mat is a deep burgundy, the outer mat a very pale blue and the outer frame is pink!

Different kinds of beads

I have finished the first outer layer of beading on both sides.  I started the second layer in.  I am adding seed beads in dark blue and lime green, sapphire and lime green cubes and turquoise and green bugle beads.  I work the layer on each side so I am placing the beads in the exact spot on each wing.  It is a little slower but I like that I can get them exact and only have to handle the placement sheets once.

All the stitches!

Okay, so now all the stitching is done.  I added more stitches at the top and bottom and in the center of the Crescents in the middle of the wings.  I have also started adding the beads!  Woohoo!  The outermost layer on both sides has green beads so far in the center stitches.

More on 4

I finished the rest of the Diamond Jessicas in all four quandrants.  Next, the elongated Crescents in the bottom/top of each quadrant and filling those with star Rhodes.  Purple Fleur-de-Crescents surroung the elongated Crescents.

More on the second layer

After the first set of twinning Crescents are some Jessicas, more twinning Cresents, and a Rice stitch variation.  I have completed both sides but thought it would be easier for you to see if I only show one side.

Mariposa returns!

I looked back at my notes and saw that I stopped working on this in September to work on a few other projects!  Wow!
So, time to get busy on it!  Today I started the 2nd layer.  I added the swirl in the very center, did mirro Sheaf sttiches and topped those with Kreinik crescents, did Sheaf stitches and finally added twining crecents.
