Cotile Trade Days

So Saturday we went to Cotile Trade Days. The decision on our part was spur of the moment. We knew of the event because I saw it come up on faceless book (facebook). It is a two day affair that happens once a year at Cotile Lake in Boyce Louisiana. Here is a small excerpt from one website. The purpose of Trade Days is to raise money for the many charities supported by the Lions including the Lions Camp for Children and the Louisiana Lions Eye foundation. In addition we contribute to the Lions Club International Foundation as well as local community needs.

I didn't take a lot of pictures, because I forgot the camera; but I took a few with my phone...

There were a lot of home business types out there, as you can see. The had a children's play area behind the food court, but we didn't go that way.

Easter stuff Was nice.

Cypress knees are popular to make things out of. These were some of the best I've seen.

There was a booth of unusual wind chimes.

I did like these Louisiana styled wind chimes, but hubby wouldn't let me get any.

There were lots of other sellers, but by then my bad knee was bothering me, so I just wanted to go back to the truck.

After all the threats of rain, and the thunderstorms Friday night, Saturday turned out to be a gorgeous day for a flea market. As always, if you click on the picture, I believe it will expand and you can see them better.

I hope you all have a wonderful, safe, blessed week.

I liked this from the local Ag Newsletter

Though I think they might have also added the Grace of God.

Chance of severe weather in Texas and Louisiana today and tomorrow as a front moves through. I pray God will continue to watch over us all. I hope you all have a safe, blessed weekend.

A little about last Saturday.

We went to a car show. Well, I wanted to go. Hubby didn't want to stay long. Boo. But it was for a good cause. The CENLA Food Bank. I have supported the Food Bank ever since the younger boys made heavy use of the one that opened in Havelock, NC, after we moved. When we retired, they stayed. Anyway. That is a long story that I don't remember going into and won't; other than we were proud of them and I am thankful to God for answering my prayers.

While hubby was surprisingly not into waiting for all the cars to arrive (we left barely 15 minutes or so after it started), I did get a few pictures.

I should practice taking pictures. Anyway. Ratrod, as they are called, I believe.

Some corvettes.

The red corvette in the middle had a Former POW license plate. I wasn't able to meet him and thank him for his service.

This is a weird little car called a Silvia. I know, I forgot to take a picture of the car; but trust me, the engine was the best looking thing about it!

Viper.

GT.

Chevelle SS.

I didn't get a good picture of this truck, but I didn't try. It had one of those real loud engines. With what I think used to be called a Fart Pipe? It didn't run worth a plugged nickel. Well, I should correct that. The engine ran. Sort of. It would kind of go forward. It didn't back up worth a plugged nickel and kept dying. It was brought in on a trailer. 'nough said. ;-)

A member or former member of the Fire Department had a mini-Munster type car.

Now my favorite of all the cars there, was this gorgeous Chevy.

And my second favorite was that black corvette at the bottom of that first set of 5. If I hadn't gotten out of the way of that dumb truck, I would never have seen this.

I don't know who the young man was, but I thank him for his service and I hope the Good Lord comforts all who knew him.

I managed to get a quick shot of one of the El Caminos that came in as we were getting ready to leave. Hubby was already in our van with the engine running so I didn't have time for another try.

That was pretty much the highlight of our weekend. Hubby has been feeling better, so he has been doing more yard work and such. For which I am very grateful.
Oh, our tax person called also. We got a refund this year. In part because we took a loss on the sale of our house, and because the government took such a big chunk of hubby's savings plan when he cashed it out. Another time to be thankful. I was afraid we'd be paying a big chunk this year, but we were blessed.

Take care and God bless. ♥

Sportsman's Show

Friday we went to an Outdoor/Sportsman's show. They were supposed to have tractor implements there. They had a few, but none that hubby wanted. He is trying to find a reasonably (cheap, haha) priced plow for the tractor.
Most of them are around $1500. He will eventually buy one, but for now he was hoping for a better sales price.

They had boats and 4-wheelers -which is what they were called when I was younger; things for kids to do. Food stands and they were supposed to have a display of the largest bucks taken in 2016. I did see a lot of deer mounts, but they were mostly displays to get you to join a hunting club or to sign up for a hunting trip. All the bucks I read about last year were mostly taken on public forestry land.
Ah well.
Hubby's feet started bothering him, so we didn't stay long. He was kind of disappointed by how small the tractor display was.

I did remember to take a few pictures.

This one is on the way to the entrance. For some reason I didn't take a picture of the entrance..

John Deere, Toro and Kubota had tractors there.

There were also small tractors for kids.

There was a section by the food court for kids.

The tall column is a wall climbing thing. One young girl made it to the top, but I did not hear the bell. It said win $100 if you make it to the top and ring the bell.
The bounce things were empty when we were there. The other attraction was to sit in some straps and then jump around doing somersaults and such. I didn't understand it other than that.

This is one of the swamp/shallow water boats that was on sale.

And I took pictures of some of the deer mounts.

It was pretty interesting, even if we didn't see what hubby was hoping to see.

But don't be in Gonzales/Baton Rouge at 3PM on a Friday afternoon. Traffic is terrible!

You all have a blessed week.

V. Watts Weekend - Warning. Picture Heavy.

So we went to a flea market a little East of Baton Rouge this weekend.

V.Watts is an antique store most days. They have a lot of great stuff I wish I could afford. I have looked around inside a couple times, but usually we just walk around outside.

This is an inside photo from their website.

Their website isn't really updated. They have a facebook page where they do most of that.

They hold their Trade Days the second Saturday of the month. It was busy, yet, not as busy as we have seen it. And yes, the flea market is on both sides of the entry driveway. It can take a little bit of time to navigate being two way and a pedestrian crossing. There is always a police car with a couple officers out front, too.

One lady was selling chicks.

We bought some great strawberries!

There were a lot of different kinds of things for sale. These are just pictures of some of the items.

There were some very pretty blooming bushes when we walked back to our van.

We also bought some eggs from a couple we have gotten to know. Nice people. Nice eggs. Just as we were leaving it was starting to sprinkle. I hope everyone that didn't have a tent got their stuff undercover. We went to Lafayette from there for some shopping, and then home. We got dumped on, going home. No thunder and lightning; but hard enough that most people slowed down to 45 on the Interstate.

Hope you all have a blessed week!
