Already May?

 Wow. Hard to believe.

Made some minor changes to the blog after reading another blogger's post to see if it helps with comment problems.

Of course I don't know that I'm having any and I don't know if it will help me when I am, haha. By the way, clicking on a link will open (or should open) a new window.

But Leigh, over at 5 Acres And a Dream, commented on seeing this problem before and the problem was created by imbedded comments.

So no more comment threads to see if there is a problem that gets fixed. :)

Went to the flea market today. They were having a 50's theme. I can tell I'm getting older because it wasn't as fun as it should have been. Too many people and the "music", such as it was, was much too loud for my liking.

I even passed up having crawfish, because there was a place that was serving and selling; but the music that was already too loud was asked to be turned up louder by some of the diners. So I just made my way back to the truck. Hubby decided to call it early, too, and made it back to the truck right behind me. :)

Here is the only picture I took.

One of the covered eating areas at the Lafayette Jockey Lot Flea Market.

It was a nice day though, so there was that. :)

If I had any more to say, I have forgotten what it was so I will just say be safe and God bless you all.

Been a while

Not a lot to say. Getting used to the new home. Needless to say it is a bit noisier than the old, double-walled, wooden farm house.
Went to the flea market this weekend. The heat and humidity was not good, haha.
The only thing worth sharing was an impromptu "petting zoo", so to speak, at the flea market.

A piglet.

And a calf and goat.

The goat seemed to like chewing on a ribbon that was tied to the pen.

And the funny thing about the calf was whenever it wanted to be where the goat was, it would stick its nose on the goat's butt. The goat would jump and move, and the calf would move where the goat was.

The goat obviously didn't like it; but it never butted the calf back.

We came home after the flea market. Usually we go into Lafayette for shopping; but with the heat and humidity we just didn't feel like dealing with the Saturday traffic there.

I hope you are all doing well. Praying for God's mercy on the Western states, especially where the fires are.
Praying for rain for you who need it.
Our rain has stopped for the most part, so now we have the summer heat and humidity.
You all be safe and God bless!

Saturday flea market trip

Two dozen farm eggs. No pictures. ;-)

Four bowls that I liked.

And two random pictures.

Exxon plant - part of it.

And a section of elevated train tracks. Cargo trains.

We are looking at a several nights below freezing. A hard freeze as well.

Tonight's low 28 degrees

Sunday's low 23 degrees

Monday's high 27 degrees

Monday's low between 13 and 15 degrees

Tuesday's high 31 with a low of  24 degrees

This is not seasonable weather for Louisiana.

But I am guessing this may be the reason we have had such a delay getting our home.

You all be safe. Stay warm and God bless.  ♥

Our Saturday

Thought I should update this and show you what we got. Besides a nice walk, we bought this.

It flashes different colors, neighs and makes clopping sounds while it moves around in circles.

Scares the cats a good deal, haha!  :)

After the flea market we shopped a bit in Lafayette. Got a belt for pants, some really nice asian pears, and some very good stir fry noodles.

On the way back we stopped in Opelousas and filled up for $1.81 a gallon for diesel.

A very good day all around. :)

Again, be safe and God bless!

19 September 2020

It was a gorgeous day yesterday.  Had a nice time at the flea market. Bought some sheets for the RV and an old, round style tupperware container.

We stopped at a place called Billy's Boudin and Cracklins for some fresh cracklins.

And at home, I saw this.

I do love spider lilies.

You all be safe and God bless.

A nice Saturday

Went to the flea market. Lots of people there. All wearing masks. Would have been more enjoyable without one. They make me hotter (heat index was 107 today) and I have trouble breathing; but other than that, it was an enjoyable day.

Have to start buying sheets again. Not sure how it happened; but I ended up missing sheets after the tornado tore the roof off our house/bedroom.

Anyway, there's a real nice lady there I've been buying the sheets from.

We like these sheets a lot.

Good fuel prices in Opelousas, too.

Got a nice roast for Sunday from Rouses. No picture, sorry.
Shopped a few other places.

It was nice to get out. Too bad it wasn't a normal day; but it was nice anyway.

I'm hoping to go to a flea market in Livingston in August to see some friends we haven't seen in months; but we have to go through Baton Rouge to get there and hubby says there is a high incidence of the virus there so I don't know if we will go or not.

You all be safe. Thank God for your blessings.

Flea Market

Today was a really nice day. So being Saturday we went to the flea market in Livingston, Louisiana. V.Watts is only on the second Saturday of a month. I was glad they didn't give in to the fear of the latest flu.

We saw some friends, got some farm fresh eggs, hubby found a nice pair of headphones for his computer and I got a scarf for my neck when I forget to put on the darn sunscreen.

Also took a few pictures.

A really nice truck.

I love Wisteria.

Only took a couple pictures of the rest of the market. Oops.

And one of the lowest Diesel price we found. It's about 40 cents a gallon more here in central Louisiana.

We usually go to a second flea market, but it closed because of the flu. Boo! The little cafe there makes some really great chicken wings.

Hope you all are having a blessed weekend, too. Be safe and God bless. ♥

Happy Birthday to middle son.

Took him for crawfish, of course. :)

And we brought home some bread pudding with chocolate caramel sauce. :)

And yes, it was all as good as it looked. :)

You all be safe out there. People are getting more crazy, if that is possible.

We will take precautions; but we are going to the flea market this weekend. Supposed to be 81 and partly cloudy. We'll see if heat and humidity kill this new flu like it does most all flues.

God bless!

We are home again

Got back before the next set of rain storms comes though.

Had a few more flea market pictures to show you all.
I can't stress though, with all these photos, this is a tiny fraction of what was there, and it was a slow weekend! Because of Super Bowl, I think.
Anyway. :)

First Monday Trade Days is the weekend before the First Monday of a month. So this time it was 30 January - 2 February. Thursday through Sunday, rain or shine they claim. But we try not to go if it rains. There are a lot of vendors who I'm sure are not there when it rains.

By the luck of the calendar there will be 2 in April this year, so we are trying to decide if we want to go to one. We'll see.
You all take care and God bless. :)

First Monday Trade Days - Warning - Picture heavy

Hello from Canton, Texas!

After a good night's sleep Wednesday night, I felt really good Thursday. I've been talking fine - much to hubby's disappointment, haha!
I'm eating well and not having any overly undue pain that some tylenol can't help.
The arthritis in my knee is really the only thing slowing me down and I have an appointment to get shots for that.

So I thought I'd share a few pictures of the flea market with you. Mind you, this is just a tiny fraction of everything that is for sale here. :)
