Watercolour Hydrangeas

Hello crafty friends! It's Donna here, and I've been playing with watercolours and the beautiful Hydrangea stamp from Kennedy Grace Creations. You may not know this, but back in the day before I had time to make cards, I was the head of the Japanese department at our local Grammar School. One of my ex students came to visit me the other day, and we got to talking about card making, and ending up having a crafty session with watercolour backgrounds.  It is so lovely to have students who see you as more than just a means to an end, as I worked very hard for my students, especially the senior students, who needed a lot of extra support. This card today uses one of the backgrounds that I made with her. I just love the loose look of watercolour that continues 'outside the lines'. The image is stamped in Versamark ink. To make the sentiment, I ran the painted panel through my die cutting machine with a happy die, being very careful to keep all the small pieces

Birthday Rose - December Mood Board

Hello, and Happy Sunday to you all! It's  Donna  here, and I'm so happy to be sharing with you again. Hasn’t this year flown by? I can't believe December is here already. Every year seems to bring so much that is unexpected, some bad but much of it good. Mostly, all this unexpected extra activity mainly just makes for a whole lot of busyness that I try to get rid of every January when I work out my new year’s resolutions. ( I've been unsuccessful so far, but next year's a new year, right?) Isn’t this month’s Mood Board Gorgeous?  I love the cool colours and the silver sparkle. I’ve tried to capture some of this loveliness in my card this month. I used the Just a Rose stamp set for my main image and stamped it in Memento ink, so that I could colour the image with my Copics. I grabbed out  and sampled all my light blue Copics and used different combinations for each petal, moving from blues to blue greens to blue violets. Once I had coloured the rose, I cu

God's Greatest gift

Hello holiday crafters, it's Jill in full Christmas swing here on the Kennedy Grace Creations Blog!!   My card today is called " God's Greatest Gift . "  I wanted to shake things up a bit by using a technique I had never used before - Yupo paper and Ranger alcohol inks .  I created my card background using several colors (in hindsight I would have used fewer) and the silver metallic mixative (love it!).  I then embossed the Yupo paper with a Sizzix Christmas snowflakes embossing folder that I discovered in my stash (I don't tend to use a lot of embossing folders, so I sometimes forget about them).  But that was exactly what this Yupo paper needed to make it look like a Christmas background! I then die cut Penny Black's Manger die from the middle of the central embossed snowflake on the card panel, then die cut it again from NSW #110 cardstock.  I inlaid the white die cut into the Yupo paper, then adhered some clear acetate to the back side of it.
