Weekly StampTV Color Challenge Card

My fellow DT member on KLM Digital Designs , Sue Morris, is also a member of StampTV and this month was chosen as a Center Stage Design Team Member. She got to host the Color Challenge this week and she chose that the cards should be Red, White, and Black. Here is the card that I created today in 30 min for the challenge:

I know that I always take a long time to create cards usually a couple of hours minimum, so I was amazed that I started this card at 3:00 knowing full well that I had to go to work at 4:15 :) Hey, when you have a thought sometimes you just have to roll with it.

I wanted to do Susan's challenge for two reasons, I know Susan as a DT buddy and I love color challenges. I wanted to do a silhouette type card with the new Many Wishes and this was the perfect opportunity to do it.

I cut all of my papers knowing that I wanted to use the red polka dot paper for my red. I sponged the Tim Holtz firebrick red distress ink around the edge of my main image cs leaving the center to reflect around the dandelion heads. I sponged just a little black soot Tim Holtz distress ink along the bottom and very lightly along the sides and top.

I stamped the dandelion heads and stems from Many Wishes and the small leave branch from Tropical Flowers with Momento Tuxedo Black ink and added the stray dandelion fluff flying away. I mounted all the pieces together and added a piece of wonderful GinaK red with white stitched ribbon (that was included in the Eclectic Summer StampTV kit that is availble now), and tied a bow knot in the upper left corner.

Finally I added a few 3 dot high lights randomly on the card and added a small white dot in each corner. I thought a brad or eyelet would be too large for the effect I wanted so used my handy dandy white gel pen for the corner dots.

I finished my card at approximately 3:30, photographed it, posted it to StampTV and I was upstairs getting ready for work at 3:50. I think that is a speed record for me. I see a couple more StampTV challenges that I am going to try to complete this week. My favorites are of course the color challenges and the sketch challenges. I'm going to check the out more as soon as I finish this post.

Tomorrow is Friday and you know what that means...the Hanna Stamps Friday challenge. I am going to sneak a peak over there too because sometimes if I am very lucky, it is Francis turn and since she lives in Australia she posts late here but daytime for her. Great for night owls like me because even though I don't usually do the challenge until the next day I don't have to wait to see what the challenge is. More info than you probably wanted to know about me, but...

Off to see what Challenge world has in store for me the next couple of days.

See you all later.

Sorry I am late!

Sorry I am late posting my Artful Sentiments Copic Challenge card today. Actually I showed it to you day before yesterday, remember when I said I was working on a challenge card? I was using the GinaK Designs, Eclectic Summer StampTV kit Hot Air Balloons.

I gave all of the details on the card itself on Thursday but the Copic Colors that I used on the hot air balloons were B24, G24, and YR21 and my additional green was YG63. I used the same color markers for the flowers below with the blue as the flower center, yellow as the flower petal and green as the leaves.

Thanks for looking and sorry for being so late in posting.

See you tomorrow, gotta do my Sunday Challenges. After the release party GinaK Designs has 3 challenges that have to be done by Monday night at 7 p.m. for a chance at a prize. I can always use a free stamp set but always enjoy doing the challenges anyway.

Take me Away!!!

I am really having a ball with my new StampTV kit called Eclectic Summer. I have finally had a little time this week to just "play".
Today I was working on a challenge card and wanted to use my GinaK Designs Eclectic Summer StampTV Kit, boy say that three times fast, and I wanted to use the hot air balloon. I stamped the one single hot air baloon in the middle and colored it with copic markers, big shock I know :)I decided that it was missing something so I thought that it would be so pretty with a field of pretty flowers like you were looking at the hot air balloons in the distance from a field of flowers.
I stamped the flowers from the flower barrell on a strip of white cardstock and colored them in with copic markers to match the colors I had used in the balloon. I cut the row of flowers out to be glued to the bottom after I sponged around the edges.
Still missing something so I stamped another hot air balloon on either side of the first balloon and left them uncolored. The edges were sponged with Tim Holtz Faded denim distress ink and Adirondak Juniper ink.
The layering of the card is pretty basic, nothing too elaborate as I wanted the balloons to be the main focus of the card. Tied a black and white check ribbon around the main card base and my card was complete.
Now I have to go to work because GinaK Designs has a release party tomorrow night on the GinaK Designs forum on SplitCoastStampers. I will be at work but you know that I will be at the store as soon as I get home from work. If you haven't already, check out the DT previews that have been going on this week. I have been coming home from work, grabbing a bowl of ice cream, and checking out all the previews because most of them post at midnight. Pays to be a night-owl :)
See you later, hope you liked the card.

My Sunday StampTV challenge card and some exciting news too!

After being out of town last week-end, having to work all week, and then having my husband's Birthday Friday and Father's Day today I have been a little busy trying to catch up on home and more importantly stamping!!! I finally got a change to do the StampTV challenge's I always try to do on Sunday. I combined the Color Challenge hosted by Jennie and the sketch challenge hosted by Jessica. Both were great challenges ladies. Here is my card:

I wanted to play with my new StampTV Kit stamps so this flower bucket was my choice to go with the colors I picked from the Vera Bradley bag and I think I followed the sketch challenge pretty close. It 's a good thing that there are no sketch police on StampTV :)

I used the super Bright Summer Grunge digital paper that I ordered when I ordered my StampTV Kit. I picked three coordinating papers for my challenge. I chose the blue polka dot for my main background dp and then chose the orange and blue for my corner piece. The brown and orange was my choice for the strip at the bottom. I colored my main image with copic markers and sponged with Adirondak Sunset Orange ink and Tim Holtz Broken China distress ink.

I mounted all of my dp on black for contrast and mounted my main image on black just 1/8 in larger than the image, mounted that on white making the bottom an inch longer than the main image and mounted that all on black. I tied a knot in my medium wide turquoise satin ribbon and adhered it to the white panel below my main image.

Now for my exciting news! For those of you who follow my blog, you know that I have been creating projects for a Guest DT call at Hanna Stamps. Hanna Stamps decided to try having people audition for the guest designer positions for the next six months, starting in September. The first round of auditions was to create cards and post them to SCS and your blog linking back to the DT call. This round ended yesterday June 20th. From this round there were supposed to be 8-10 people chosen to continue to the second round. From what I saw and the judges stated there were so many great projects that they ended up choosing 15 ladies to continue to the next round and ......I WAS ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES!!!!!!!

I am so excited to get to go to the second round. Now we will be sent a never before released stamp set and we have to create 3 projects, one of which can not be a card. We have a while before the projects have to be completed. The final 6 will be chosen from these projects. The 6 will each get a 2 month assignment as guest designer, isn't that cool?! Wish me luck!

Thanks for stopping by, see you tomorrow with a preview of a KLM Digital Design pretty ballerina that is being released June 22.

Polished Stone BG with Stained Glass Balloons?

Polished Stone background is the Technique this week on StampTV. I have done this technique many times but not usually this large of a picture. My favorite fixative to get the marble look is Pearl.
I tried to use both tutorials on one picture but the pearl fixative does not work with bleach :(
but I really liked the way the background turned out, cloudy sky looking and wanted to use the hot air balloon in my new StampTV kit, Eclectic Summer, that arrived today.
I followed the tutorial instructions of embossing the hot air balloons with black embossing powder and since the bleach didn't work to make the balloons more white against the cloudy sky I decided to use my alcohol reinkers, (terra cotta and current, the center balloon is pearl), directly applied with a paint brush. It turned out really cool, I think, because they inks are translucent and the polished stone background shows through and gives the appearance of stained glass.
Hope you like my version of PlanB when PlanA doesn't work :)

You'll have to forgive the photography, polished stone is very shiny and rather hard to get a picture without some glare, at least for me.

See you tomorrow!
