Thanksgiving is here, now it is Christmas time!

For me, Christmas always begins the moment that Santa hits Herald Square in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I was in the middle of a walk when it happened, but I know that Santa hit about Noon today, so it is officially Christmas/ Yuletide Time. I have been buying some pre-holiday time holiday buys. I bought two DVD's: Emmett Otter's Jugband Christmas and the original Miracle on 34th Street. I bought some holiday face art at 5below, as well as some holiday suspenders. And then at Target I got the cutest ugly sweater skirt. We are now on the lookout for a new tree for our house. Our old tree was, well, old. So we took it out to the curb after last year, rather than taking it back to the basement. And we forgot about that until this week when thinking about decorating. Well, shit. We need a new tree. I know exactly what I would like to get; a 9 foot skinny tree, preferably un-lit, but lit white is fine. Hopefully we can find one in the next couple days for not too much....

Holiday Prepping

We had our first family Thanksgiving at our house last weekend, and it was highly successful. We realized halfway through that we had taken no pictures, which was truly unfortunate since our turkey turned out so well. It was awesome, even if we don't have any proof of it. Then we had 3 more dinners over the course of the week. Wow, so much food. I think I ate more this week than I had in the rest of the month of November. And I enjoyed every bite. :) Yesterday I started decking the halls yesterday. I got my two big trees up, lit and decorated, ran lights along the bannister, and started setting up my Yule altar. I got my hands on a tablecloth that had been my grandmothers, and I used it as an altarcloth. I love how it looks and how it makes me feel connected to her. Today I went to see my favorite stylist, Adam at Lucky 13 hair salon, and got my hair cut. I wanted a change, but did not want to lose any of the length. So I decided I wanted bangs. I haven't had them since I w...

Back to life, Being a wife and Accidental Turkeys

Now that the wedding is completely over, and the final bits of stress have gone, it is time to settle back in to our normal lives. It's funny how crazy things get leading up to the wedding, and then it's over. Just like that. I am gearing up to start classes again at the beginning of the year. I just don't know what I want to do. I began school as a paralegal major, but I just don't have a passion for it which is important to me. My passion, and what my heart wants, is to be an English Professor. I just know it is a huge monetary and time investment, and I don't know if we can afford it. It's really hard for me to make a decision this big. I think the problem I run into is that I can see so clearly both sides of the issue, that I cannot stop seeing all the negatives, and weighing them heavily. *sigh* I need to just make a decision and stick with it; easier said than done, right? With Samhain beginning the witches year, I decided to set myself some Samhain to ...

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. :) I have so many things to be thankful for this year: my mother's good health, my amazing now fiance, getting to go back to school, finding a weight loss program that actually works, renewing my relationship with my father, and many many more things. I am truly blessed.  I was asked to make a sweet potato dish for tomorrow, and I found a recipe that sounds fantastic. I am going to be peeling and cubing 6 lbs of sweet potatoes and cook them in 2 cups of apple cider. That was the base recipe. I am going to add some cinnamon, ginger and splenda brown sugar. I will let you know how it goes, but it sounds super good.  I am all ready to start my Yule/Holiday decorating. To me the Holiday season starts the minute Santa hits herald square during the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade. So decorations can begin going up tomorrow. Yay!!  This next month will probably be very Holiday oriented. :) I am so excited for the season this year, last year w...
