Magical Monday - One week to Samhain!

Magical Monday 3 Card Spread -  Mind, Body, Spirit  Mind: 5 The Ancestor: You have made the leap and started a new cycle. Your instinctive spirit has felt it necessary to lead you to the gateway and a new path. You may have been reluctant or concerned at first, but whether you realize it or not a shift has occurred. You may feel wary of the unknown denizens that await you in the forest, but the ancient Ancestor within you will guide and reassure you as you relearn and greet new experiences on the path. Trust your inner voice. Listen to your own instinctive and inquisitive nature. Your own inner ancestor is strong, patient and wise. Let them lead you into the forest with new eyes and a joyful heart.  Body : Four of Arrows - Rest: Recharging after a period of stressful activity, work or emotional trauma. Allow time for the imagination to sojourn into the otherworld to renew and rejuvenate vitality. Muscles need time to repair an...

Ghost huntings and other fun actvities

Image
This Memorial Day weekend is packed full of strange excitement for my family.   Tomorrow I head with Seth, my mom and Seth's mom and dad down to Mansfield to take a tour of the Ohio State Reformatory . This historical and supposedly haunted former prison is famous for being the setting for the film, The Shawshank Redemption. My mom stumbled upon an amazing Groupon for self-guided tours so we are headed that way. I am taking my camera and I am hoping I can capture the image of a ghost while we wander.       On Sunday I am volunteering with my mother at the Columbus Asian Festival , This is my first time attending this particular festival, but I am excited to see what it has to offer. I am hoping for delicious food and fabulous booths, and hopefully people selling fun stuff. :)       Beyond all that craziness life is interesting in my world. I have been trying to find a way to finish my bachelor's degree in English. I applied to a ...

It's a mad, mad, mad March

Image
March is always slightly chaotic in my world and this year is no exception. Birthdays, walks, parties, craft projects and belly dance are ruling my life. The first weekend of March we went to the Arnold Fitness Expo here in Columbus. It is a weekend of pure chaos, the fittest people in the world, and enough protein samples to fuel a power lifter. We spotted the guys from Hard Core Pawn, Hulk Hogan and I had an embarassing encounter with MMA fighter Forrest Griffin (I came face to face with him, froze entirely unable to breathe and then started to cry, because apparently I cannot handle celebrity encounters). We got to watch a Strongest Man event, a little gymnastics and some amazing jump rope.                         The 14th was my birthday. Hooray 34! I decided that we should do a 5k for my birthday, so on an incredibly soggy March morning we slogged our way to the Pi D...

The Walking Wounded

Image
On Memorial Day, we had just finished a little cookout just my husband and I, when I went to shut the porch door ahead of our cat slipped on a slick spot on our porch and fell. During the fall I heard something in my left knee pop, and knew I was probably not coming out of this unscathed. I went to the doctor the next day and found out that I had sprained my knee, just a tear in my MCL. I have been given a massive brace and advised to RICE (Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate). In my convalescence I have learned that I am really shitty at resting. I just don't sit and do nothing well. It sounds like a dream, but when you are being forced to sit all you can think of is the active things you could be doing. Like I bought myself a hoop for dancing for $5 at a garage sale. I am so ready to go hiking. I want to roller skate in a bad way. My little sister got me a complete zumba kit from her store. So much to do, so cannot do it. In spite of my temporary infirmity I have actually been reall...

Food Truck Festival

Image
On Friday my mother and I wandered over to  The Columbus Commons  for the  Columbus Food Truck Festival . It was a gorgeous fall like Ohio night and we had a delicious time. After wandering around a bit, we finally decided to try Vietnamese food  from a truck called Mai Chau . Mom got a Bahn Mi sandwich with ginger slaw and lemon grass chicken and I got a noodle bowl with siracha pulled pork. Everything was so good and so fresh. Yum. Here is a look at some of the sights. Our choice of food trucks. Bahn Mi Noodle Bowl Me...in my new pink glasses. I love them so much.!!
