I'm Baaaack! :)

Sorry to disappear for the week . . . here is a little snapshot of what I've been up to with my family.

CAMPING! :) We drove out to Great Basin National Park in Nevada for the week to camp and visit Lehman Caves. It was nice to "unplug" and spend time with the family. We played card games, cooked on a campfire, took a drive around the park and just relaxed!

I do have a few pages to share with you today. :)

This first one I created for the current "White Space Challenge" on the Noel Mignon Challenge Blog.

Page created with the Noel Mignon Sunkissed Kit.

This second page was done for the My Mind's Eye Blog (stop by to see what the other designers created) . . . but unfortunately, I didn't get it turned in on time due to computer issues yesterday (Ugh. That's an entirely different story . . . A BIG THANK YOU to my husband for taking the ENTIRE day to fix it for me. Mmmmwah!).

I used the My Mind's Eye So Sophie Charming collection for this one. Those super cute burlap buttons are by Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker and the background is spritzed with Vertigre Vibez by Shimmerz Paints.

I'll do my best to not ignore you for another week . . . but I do have to forewarn you that Camryn's birthday is next Saturday which means momma will be busy planning for presents and parties. :) I can't believe my girl is going to be FOUR. :) Fun times!

Happy Summer!

Check out this GORGEOUS Inspiration Board for this week. What a beautiful combination of colors. The extra challenge this week goes right along with the inspiration photo . . . a focus on flowers.

Patterned Papers: The Girls' Paperie; Tape: Pink Paislee ; Flowers: Oriental Trading; Crystal Accents: Zva Creative ; Paints: Shimmerz Paints ; Die Cut Letters: Making Memories Slice;Photo Effect: Be Funky.com (Old Photo 5)

For my flowers, I pulled out some Oriental Trading paper flowers I had in my stash and spruced them up with my Shimmerz Paints . I used Sky Blue Shimmerz along the edges of the flowers. Next I added lots of glam with Pixie Dust Blingz. Fun!

You can't have flowers without a little bling, right?! I added Zva Creative Crystal Flourishes (CR-03CA-111) to accent the shimmery flowers.

Be sure to head on over to Color Combos Galore to see the BIG REVEAL. You will be floored at the inspiration you'll find! Swoon!

Oh! And did you notice that cool photo effect? That's another fun feature from BeFunky.com called Old Photo 5. Here is a before and after of my picture.

This week I also completed my May Top 10 page for the My Mind's Eye Top 10 of 2010 Challenge . I don't know about your family, but May was full to the brim with end-of-year school activities and family happenings. I used the FREE Download from My Mind's Eye (CLICK HERE) to number my photos. The journaling card's lines were already numbered, so I used the corresponding spaces to list the description of each photo. How easy is that?! :) Page created using the My Mind's Eye So Sophie Savvy collection .

That's it for now!

My kids last day of school is tomorrow . . . so we will be partying it up and celebrating! Woot! Woot!

Have a great weekend!

I do have a few My Cute Stamps projects to show you using the Picnic with Little Red stampset and So Sophie My Mind's Eye papers.

Little Red Riding Hood -

This past Halloween Maryn wore my Little Red Riding Hood costume that my mom made for me when I was a girl. She looked adorable! One of these days I need to have my dad send me a picture of me in that same costume and do a side-by-side page. :) Wouldn't that be fun?

I used the Making Memories Slice to cut the letters for the word "red" as well as the red patterned paper flowers. The red Paper Flowers are spritzed with Shimmerz Redy Or Not Vibez.

Thank You Card

Isn't that little apple perfect for a Thank You note for your child's teacher? :)

The "Thanks" stamp is from the Eeek! A Monster! stampset .

Finally, I will leave you with a little teaser . . .

Shimmerz "Samrock" Pearlz

The NEW Shimmerz Pearlz colors are so beautiful! Each of them has such a rich, shimmery quality to them . . . I can't wait to try out every single one!

The color I chose to play with on this project is called "Samrock" . . . I know, it looks like I'm spelling it wrong, but I promise it's not a typo. LOL! Samrock is named for the Owner's daughter, Samantha. :) Isn't that sweet?!

This delicious color has so much depth to it. It's the most beautiful, bright shade of green with warm gold mixed in. I can picture myself using it on so many projects! Nothing soft and subtle about this color! LOVE it!!!

Recently, I went with my daughter on her school field trip to a dairy farm. The country setting inspired me to use a country-inspired color scheme . . . salmon pink, sage green, cream and aqua. Page created with the NEW Noel Mignon Lemonade Stand Kit.

I began by spritzing my Kraft cardstock background with Bed of Roses Spritz and Hot Fudge Vibez by Shimmerz Paints. I laid out my design and then used the Samrock Pearlz to create my own page accents.

The flowers are made by painting a sheet of bookpaper with Samrock Pearlz paint. After the paint dried, I punched out several flowers using a craft punch. I layered the shapes together, added a decorative punched circle, and a pink metal flower by Making Memories (from the kit).

Next, I cut out the word "Field" from Kraft cardstock with my Silhouette machine. I also cut out two scalloped strips using a Stampin' Up punch. I painted these with the same Samrock Pearlz paint. I love the way the painted elements naturally curled up on their own creating instant dimension. I chose to let them curl on my page as well, and only applied glue where the accent made contact with the page. The title and scallops appear slightly darker in color than the bookpaper flowers because the Kraft cardstock shows through the paint. The subtle change in the color green is a good thing. It adds adds depth to the page design. When the Samrock paint was dry, I decided to add tole-painted-inspired dots to the scallops and title with 3D Paint.

Have you pulled out your paints lately? Try making your own painted page accents next time you create a page. It's fun!

Motherhood Challenge

I hope you enjoyed Mother's Day weekend! I was spoiled with handmade cards, pictures, a flower brooch made by Maryn, a long nap, chocolate strawberries, dinner, and a game of croquet from my sweet kids. :D I feel so lucky to be their mother. My life just wouldn't be the same without them in it. :D

Speaking of Motherhood . . . There is a new challenge up on the Noel Mignon Challenge blog today, the Motherhood Challenge.

I created this page using the Noel Mignon Playdate kit and a sketch by Scrapbook Challenges telling my children how much they mean to me. :) The background is spritzed with Jeni B. Bleu by Shimmerz Paints.

The words on my page were not only inspired by the challenge video, but also one of my favorite songs. "All My Love" by Loose Ties (Tangled Roots album). This is the kind of song that even though it has a happy bluegrass beat to it, I tear up everytime I listen to the words. I've told Kevin that this song is dedicated to our children from me and he better make sure someone plays/sings it at my funeral. :D

Here are the words of the song if you're curious at all. I'd link you up, but bluegrass songs are pretty difficult to find at places like Playlist.com. ;) I *think* this might be a remake of a rock song, but I couldn't confirm that anywhere online. Hmmmm. I think I threw out all of my CD jackets when we got an iPod . . . If any of you know, pass on the information to me . . . I'd love to find out for sure. :)

ALL MY LOVE by Loose Ties (Tangled Roots album)

You can say goodbye, you can close the door,
You can drift ‘til the tide washes you ashore
You can throw me out, you can be untrue
You can break my heart, but I’ll still love you

And I want you to know, you can count on me
Like each moment in time, it will always be
For as long as I live, and with all my might
All that I have to give, All my love, all my life

On the day you came, how the sun did shine
And you had no name, so I gave you mine
And the world will turn, many things you’ll see
But you’ll never learn what you mean to me.

And I want you to know, you can count on me
Like each moment in time, it will always be
For as long as I live, and with all my might
All that I have to give, All my love, all my life

When the days get long, and the nights grow cold
And the lonesome wind tries to chill your soul
You can call my name, you can hold my hand
I have known the same, I will understand

And I want you to know, you can count on me
Like each moment in time, it will always be
For as long as I live, and with all my might
All that I have to give, All my love, all my life

All my love, all my life
All my love, all my life

DON'T FORGET!!! Today is the last day to turn in your applications for the Noel Mignon Design Team Call!

Also, there are only 17 of the Brand New Lemonade Stand kits left!!!

Have a great week!

Shimmerz & Petaloo

** Please scroll down or CLICK HERE for the Pink Paislee Inspiration Tour. Remember you have all weekend to leave a comment for a chance to win! **

All this past week Shimmerz Paints teamed up with Petaloo Flowers to bring you lots of gorgeous projects on the Shimmerz Blog. Click Here to see all the gorgeous projects that were created with these fun flowers. :)

Here is my page.

I used Shimmerz Plum Pudding Spritz and Princess Vibez to colormatch the flowers to match my page. While spraying them, I allowed my index finger to intercept the mist causing large drops of color in random places on the flowers.

I LOVE the way this looks. Next, I pressed my flowers into the puddles and drips from the overspray. I allowed the colors to mix for a variegated look. I LOVE the way they turned out!

The result is very artistic! Finally, I added two more layers of patterned paper flowers using Martha Stewart Craft punches. I secured everything together with a Making Memories brad. Patterned papers and diecuts are from My Mind's Eye (So Sophie "Graceful" collection).

On this page I painted my flowers using Shimmerz Paints.

The flower centers were colored with Key Lime Shimmerz. The petal centers were colored with Burgundy Shimmerz and the edges of the flower petals were painted with Hottie Pink Blingz.

I wish you could see the sparkle on these flowers in real life! WOW!!! So perfectly fun for a girly page! :D

Papers from the My Mind's Eye Quite Contrary "Little Miss Muffet" collection.

Imaginisce Live Loud & Scooter's Vacation

This week I have several layouts featured on the Imaginisce blog . Check it out! I think you even have a chance to win some goodies if you leave a comment. ;) YAY!!! Find out more on the Imaginisce blog .

First off, the Live Loud collection. Is that little singing robot the cutest or what?! I snapped a bunch of pictures of my daughters dancing one night and even though every single picture was blurry (Note to Self: Practice manual mode in low-light situations), I still wanted to record this little ritual they do together. :)

Dance

I used the new I-Rock tool to add the green jewels and white pearl accents. I love the dimension they add to the page. :) The background is spritzed with Licorice Spritz and Jeni B. Bleu Vibez by Shimmerz Paints .

Have you played with the Imaginisce Brad Maker?! LOVE!!! Here I used green patterned paper to make coordinating brads to accent my title.

Live Loud

On this page I used lots of rub ons, something I'm usually afraid to commit to on my pages. Hehehehe! I just move things around so much, but here they were a natural addition and I love the way they look on the cardstock background.

Background is spritzed with Licorice Spritz by Shimmerz Paints.

Have you ever played with a paper collection and loved using it so much that you HAVE to have MORE? That's how I felt with the Scooter's Vacation. I LOVE the soft primary colors combined with the gray! And that sweet, little pup? Who can resist him?! :) I immediately went out and bought more of this collection to have on hand because I had so much fun creating these pages. :)

Off We Go!

More of the I-Top Brad Maker tool on this page. I LOVE the chunky, custom brads you can make with this tool! (I'm thinking I need to pull out some fabric next time. FUN!) The heart comes from the Scooter stamp that I stamped on red paper and cut out.

I pulled out some older Fancy Pants Designs chipboard letters for this page. I spritzed them with Licorice Spritz by Shimmerz Paints to match the grays in this paper line. :)

Fishing

More of the i-Rock tool on this page with the blue gems. :)

The Maya Road chipboard letters are painted with Coal Shimmerz paint and the background is spritzed with more Licorice Spritz and Penny Pincher Vibez . :)

Yesterday, I spent the day with Maryn on a field trip to a dairy farm. We learned about farms, saw a brand new baby cow, watched a cow get milked, watched a sheep get sheared, learned about keeping the earth clean, and made a greenhouse necklace with a seed in it. It was windy, but I had a feeling that was a good thing (to help keep the "scent" down. Hehehe!)Love spending time with my girl! :)

I can't believe school will be out in just a month!

Have a good day!
Jana
