I Need a Hero - Slinky Tart

It's time for another inspiration piece and this time I'm using Super Spandex from Slinky Tart. I printed and colored my image with copics. The patterned paper is from SEI and the stars are brads from stash. I printed the quote and used a couple of Spellbinders dies to cut it out.

Please be sure to check the Slinky Tart Blog for more inspiration from the other DT ladies and join us on Facebook for even more inspiration, coupon codes and you never know when Tamara will throw up a freebie.

Fairy Garden

In case you haven't noticed, I have been on a coloring kick lately and last weekend, Krista from Saturated Canary offered a freebie with purchase and here she is all colored up and on a card.

I went out of my usual clean and simple comfort zone for this one and went more vintage/shabby chic because I thought the image warranted it. After I colored her, I cut her out using a Spellbinders Oval die. I added a little frantage around the image on also on the butterfly. I also used a Wink of Stella pen on her wings and dress for some subtle glitter.

I used a clear Pearl Pen on her hair and wings to make it look like dew drops but unfortunately the camera was not picking this up. A little cheesecloth under the flowers and butterfly also added some texture.

If you like the image, be sure to check the shop because she will be available for purchase soon. I'll update this post with a link when that happens.

Shake Your Asana

Today is a dear friend's birthday and she happens to be a yoga instructor with a gentle heart and an awesome sense of humor so when I saw this image (Yoga Class) from Krista of Saturated Canary, I knew it would be perfect.

I printed it and colored with Copics and I printed my sentiment/pun on a separate piece of cardstock because it came to me after I colored my image. I used the Fishtail Dies from MFT to cut it out. Of course I added some bling because my friend sparkles and shines and what girl doesn't deserve a little bling on her birthday? In keeping with the theme, I kept the design fairly clean and simple and was pleased with how it turned out because it looks a lot like our birthday girl.

Thanks for stopping by. Namaste!

Books are Dreams

This weekend we celebrated my daughter's 14th birthday. I cannot believe how fast the time is passing and that she will be starting high school in the Fall! Usually I make her a card, but I found one at the store that said all the things I wanted so I bought her one instead (GASP!) and opted to make her something for her room.

She LOVES to read - so much so that I should own stock in Amazon. Within the first 3 weeks of Summer break, she had already finished 8 novels. Sometimes, she will spend a whole day in her room reading. Part of this is due to the fact that at the moment her phone is broken but even when it's not, she still prefers a book to TV.

When Krista released this image (Hammock Time), I knew it was perfect for my daughter. I added some titles to the books in Photoshop and added the quote which is a variation of a Neil Gaiman quote - "A book is a dream that you hold in your hands." I colored with copics and used a stencil and ink for the clouds and then I handprinted my daughter's name.

I bought the frame at a local craft store and used my Spellbinders to create the mat. My daughter loved it.

I apologize for the quality of the pics because they were taken with my iPhone but I cleaned them up as best as I could with Photoshop.

Thanks for stopping by.

Surf's Up - Slinky Tart

It's time for another inspiration piece and this time I'm using Cowabunga from Slinky Tart. Since my daughter was around, I asked her to pick my colors. Since I tend to color my images first and then put them on projects, there is usually a slight problem in trying to find coordinating papers but this time everything came together perfectly. I found these pieces in my leftover stash so I can't tell you what company they came from.

I did the same glaze pen treatment on her sunglasses as I had done on a previous image. I love the way Tamara draws her eyes because it gives me the space I need to try to make them look real. I love how they came out this time.

Please be sure to check the Slinky Tart Blog for more inspiration from the other DT ladies and join us on Facebook for even more inspiration, coupon codes and you never know when Tamara will throw up a freebie.

Meet for a Treat

There are some new goodies at The Stamps of Life and this is one of them. It's a companion set to one the previously released birthday4cookie and it's called treats4cookie.

For this card, I stamped the image of Cookie and her bowl and then colored them with Copics. I cut out the bowl and bone and I cut a slit in the bowl and placed the bone to make it look like it was in the bowl and then popped the whole thing up on the card for some dimension.

Xtremely Awesome Birthday

How was your 4th of July? As usual, mine was spectacular probably because it was my birthday which I share with my daughter's best friend. She happens to play softball and this may be her last year playing so I wanted to make a special card for my daughter to give to her.

I used this retired image from the Saturated Canary and added the greeting. In case you haven't already guessed, the team name is Xtreme so I opted for a clean an simple design with a play on the team name for the sentiment. I used her team colors for the uniform and the same hair and eye color as my daughter's friend for the girl.

I am happy to report it was very well received.

One Cool Babe - Slinky Tart

I know it's July and it's probably very hot where you are (it is here), so I thought I would cool things down with this fabulous image called Snowman CPR.

I printed her out and colored her with my copics. I cut her out using a Spellbinders Oval die and added some snowflakes punched with a Martha Stewart border punch. Of course, I added a little bling to the centers and also along the edges of my card. Just a note - the cardstock actually matches the copic colors much better in real life. I'm not sure if when I edited the picture the colors became a bit darker.

Please be sure to visit the Slinky Tart Blog for more inspiration from the other talented DT members or check out the Facebook Group and join me again in two weeks for another inspiration piece.

Shark Babe - Slinky Tart

I just love this image from Tamara. It's called So Annoyed...times 8 and the expression on the octopus' face is priceless.

I printed the image and colored with Copics. I took my cue from my daughter's summer wardrobe in that bikini bottoms and tops no longer match. It's now cool to mix and match colors and styles. I used a glaze pen to add dimension and a bit of realism to her goggles and the Magic Pearl Pen for the clear "water" drops here and there on the card.

I hope you will visit the Slinky Tart Blog to see what the other DT ladies have for you this week. As usual, it is sure to inspire!

Roses are Red - Slinky Tart

Some of you may have noticed that I took a little break from coloring but I'm back now and Tamara was gracious enough to give me the time I needed and then allow me back on her DT. She has since rebranded as Slinky Tart and come out with a whole new range of smexy images and I hope you will give them a look HERE in her shop. She also has a line called Spunky Tart available HERE.

For my return, I used the image Illeana and colored her with my copics. I wanted a vintage feel so I printed her onto Rustic Cream cardstock and used the blender pen to remove some of the color when I was done.

Please be sure to visit the Slinky Tart Blog for more inspiration from the other talented DT members or check out the Facebook Group and join me again in two weeks for another inspiration piece.

SugarPea Designs SPD13 - Snowman

It's time for another challenge at Sugar Pea Designs and the theme is ...

Where I am we are experiencing freezing temps and some sort of snow every weekend so I thought it would be appropriate to make shaker card filled with "snow". I used the Heart Journal Card die to cut my window and filled it with a combination of coarse glitter and flakes. I random stamped the snowflakes from Frosty Friends along the frame in Versamark and then went over them with some Perfect Pearls. Unfortunately, the camera does not pick up the slight blue shimmer. The snowman also from Frosty Friends was colored with copics and the scarf and hat were paper pieced with some patterned paper and the the image was cut out.

Okay, now it's your turn. You can play along with any stamp you like - but if you use Sugar Pea Designs, we'll bump your voucher up to $15. You can combine our challenge with any other challenge(s). Upload to your blog or any other gallery using keyword SPD13 so that we can leave you some love and then be sure add your link to the linky on the SugarPea Blog.

Stamp Set - Frosty Friends
Paper - SS White, CTMH (retired from stash)

Sugar Pea Designs Birthday Bash Hop

SugarPea Designs is so excited to be celebrating our 1st Birthday – and what an amazing year it has been!! We are celebrating this momentous occasion with a Blog Hop featuring our AMAZING SugarPea design team and some very talented Special Guests!

I used the new Happy Mail stamp set to make a birthday card. I stamped two of the images from the set on a piece of cardstock that I cut using the Heart Journal Die. I then used my copics to color the images. I cut a little slit in the mailbox and fussy cut one of the letter images and stuck it halfway through the slit and popped up the end for a little dimension.

I cut the border strip using the Air Mail die set from red cardstock and adhered it along the bottom of my card under my sentiment.
