Flower Soft - Multi Finction Die Cuts

This week, the Flower Soft Design Team is working with the Multi Function Die cuts. Be sure to check out the Flower Soft Blog and Facebook Page this week for inspiration and different ways to use these versatile products.

I used the Ivory Spring Flowers and cut the top off. I then shaped my flowers from behind using a stylus and added flat-backed gems to the centers. I stamped the image from the Just a Thought Away stamp set (also available as a digital download) and colored with my copics and then matted it and adhered it to my Multi Function Die Cut piece. Using Kool Tak foam squares, I mounted the entire piece onto embossed red card stock on my base.

Now I am off to a mother/daughter weekend at the Creating Keepsakes Convention in Lancaster, PA. We will be taking a couple of classes, doing a lot of shopping and working the Heartfelt Creations Booth on Saturday (say "hi" and introduce yourself if you happen by). If you want to follow along, I will be posting pictures on my Instagram and also my Facebook Page so be sure to follow.

Flower Soft Lavender Delight

Here's a little sneak peek at what is being released by Flower Soft this week at CHA.  This is one of the new Multi Function Die Cut Dimensions card kits and it's just lovely.

For my focal image, I used one of the digital downloads already available at the Flower Soft store.  I added a strip of Simply Chartreuse cardstock to the inside of the card and added some of the new Ultra Fine Lavender Flower Soft to the centers of the die cuts and also to the lavender in the focal image.  Isn't it so pretty?

Please be sure to check the Flower Soft Blog all week for more sneak peeks from CHA.

I paired one of the circle toppers with the Floral Sentiments #2 stamp set and framed it with the Heartfelt Creations Oval Window die.  I used a new impression plate from Papertrey for my background and added a little bling.

These kits are so easy to use and create such beautiful dimension on your projects.  Please visit the other ladies on the Design Team to get even more inspiration.

Flower Soft Wire Works - Sweet Pea

I'm a big fan of Pinterest and below is an image I pinned awhile ago because I knew it would make a perfect Flower Soft project.  I finally got around to making the card I envisioned and it was perfect for this week's Wire Works project.

I used Sweet Pea and Sage along with the Flower Soft wires to create the sprigs that I "tucked" into the boots.  I embossed with the Swiss Dots folder and added a couple of score lines just to give the card a little more texture.

I am very pleased with how this turned out.

Be sure to check out the Flower Soft Blog this week to see what the other Design Team members created with the Flower Soft wires.  You are sure to be inspired.

Hello Friend

Today's CAS Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers is to make a card following a sketch.  This time the sketch just so happens to mine.
This is the original card:

Now I don't know about you, but I had a difficult time with this one.  I think this is because every time I looked at the card, I had a hard time picturing anything different.  Eventually, an idea came to me and this is my happy result.

I first stamped my sentiment and then placed a line of scor-tape above and below it and then added glitter.  This is the same glitter that is outlining my flower.  Isn't the flower just gorgeous!  I learned how to make these this Summer at the CK Convention.  My daughter and I took the class and we have been making them ever since.  The set is called Aztec Gold Sunflowers from Heartfelt Creations.  The flowers can be cut using a coordinating Spellbinders die.  I used Inka-Gold paste from Viva Decor (which despite the name, comes in a variety of colors) to color my flower and then used a stylus to shape it.

I hope you'll play along this week and upload your card(s) to the SCS gallery using the keyword CAS138.  I would love to see your take on this sketch!  ;)

A Tribute to Lydia

Over at SCS, a wonderful artists is being celebrated as the Featured Stamper this week.  If you spend anytime over there I am sure you "know" Lydia Fielder (a.k.a. Understandblue).  She is the Community Manager at Splitcoast, she is a wealth of information for both the newbie and the seasoned crafter and she always has an encouraging word.  In addition to being the recipient of such encouragement, I am also an admirer of her work.  If you aren't familiar with it, please check out her Gallery.  For details of the challenge, which is to CASE something from her gallery, you can check out the post HERE.

I knew exactly which card I wanted to recreate.  I had seen this card on her blog this summer and loved the way she used the embossing folder.  For my card, I changed the orientation to landscape and used a black mat.  I loved the stamp set she used but alas, did not own it so I went to my stamps and found these toppers for the picnic baskets in PTI's Vintage Picnic stamp set.  I stamped the daisies along the bottom of the card and colored in with copics.  I then added the sentiment from Up, Up & Away.  I loved the design so much that I made another using the tulips.

I can't think of a person more deserving of this honor and if you read this Lydia, thank you for always having a kind word and being so supportive.

Mehndi Thinking of You

In case you have been wondering where I have been...we went up to Newport, Rhode Island to visit family and had a wonderful time.  We got back just in time for me to attend the CK Convention in Valley Forge.  I had planned to schedule some posts in my absence but with all the preparation for vacation, I never got around to it.

Anyway, here is a card I made awhile back using PTI's Mehndi Medallion.  I absolutely love these designs.  I went for a simple one layer card but added a little bling for dimension.

For anyone who is wondering, CK Convention was fabulous.  I took a couple of classes with my daughter this year as well as a few on my own.  I learned some cool new techniques and of course spent way too much time (and money) at the Vendor Fair.  I'll be showing you some of the projects and products in the upcoming weeks.  In the meantime, I hope you have an awesome day!
