Flower Soft Wires - God Bless America

Happy Birthday America and happy birthday to me! It's Independence Day in the U.S.A. and I hope you are all having a wonderful day celebrating the birth of our nation and a milestone for me. :)

This week, the Flower Soft ladies are showing you creative ways to use our wires and I thought what better than to create a July 4th card. I used chevron dies and create the stripes for my "flag" and the newest Die-namics Scattered Stars die paired with the Fishtail Flags die.

I then created sparklers using the Ruby and Silver Flower Soft from the Diamond Range and added them behind a die cut star. The whole panel is popped up from the card base using dimensional foam.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

For my project, I chose to work with one of the Cover-a-Card stamps (my favorites). This one is called Fireworks and I stamped my background using Versamark and embossed in silver. I then added a little bit of the Ruby Flower Soft to the centers of the fireworks and also sprinkled it on other areas of the background. It's hard to capture on camera, but the card has sparkle and shine along with texture.

I added some patriotic ribbon from stash and then added my sentiment.

Be sure to visit and comment on each of the ladies' blogs along the way for your chance to win. You will find the complete list of participants below. Happy Hopping!

Stars & Stripes Birthday

One of my daughter's best friends and I are birthday buddies.  We are both firecracker babies born on the 4th!  Although we celebrated on Wednesday, her official party is today so I made this card for my daughter to give her.  You'll recognize the layout as the same as the card I made for her other friend.

I stamped the background with Impression Obsession's Distressed Corduroy and Canvas Cover-a-Card stamps onto Kraft cardstock and then added a little patterned paper from Jillibean.  I cut some of the stars from a scor-tape adhesive sheet and attached them to cardstock and added glitter.  I cut strips from a plastic box that one of my stamp sets came in and attached the stars to them.  The ribbon was threaded through the slider mechanism and doesn't interfere with how it works.  Once again, I included a gift card.

I am so happy with how this turned out and I'm pretty sure the birthday girl is going to like it.

Flower Soft - The Patriot

This week Flower Soft is introducing a new mix called The Patriot.  It's perfect for all your July 4th cards as well as any other patriotic themed projects you may have.  I am partial to this one because my birthday happens to be on the 4th.  ;)

For my card, I cut a star from a sheet of scor-tape and attached it to the center of a larger star and then sprinkled my Flower Soft on top.  My border is a new acquisition from Sweet 'n Sassy.  I cut two borders, one white and one red and then popped out some of the red stars and added it to the white border.  I also popped out some of the white stars to allow the blue background to show through.

Please be sure to check the Flower Soft Blog for even more inspiration using The Patriot.  Also, to celebrate the release of the new Flower Soft "The Patriot" mix, there is an amazing launch special offer for you! Up until July 4th, every purchase of The Patriot will come with a FREE pack of our Moments in Time – Boys Sports, Card Toppers™. If you have never tried Card Toppers™ then this is a great way to get your hands on some.

Seeing Stars

Here's a card that I didn't get the chance to post over the weekend.  It fits several challenges over at SCS for their July 4 CAS Holiday Challenges.  There is still time to play along.  It also fits in for two other challenges this week - CAS-ual Fridays and Speedy the Cat's Friends

I used Really Reasonable Ribbon for the stripes along the side of the card and then I embossed three stars using silver embossing powder on Kraft cardstock and then cut them out.  I popped the whole panel up on dimensionals.  A super simple card.

Happy 4th of July

Good Monday morning to you and Happy 4th of July.  A number of years ago today (I am not about to tell you how many), my mother celebrated her "independence" from carrying me for nine months.  Apparently I didn't want anyone having a party/picnic without me and that includes the doctor who delivered me.

Anyway, today I wanted to show you a card I made for one of my daughter's friends who happens to share the same birthdate with me.  I am also entering this one in the Speedy the Cat's Friends Challenge which is to make a patriotic card.

To make the fireworks, I second generation stamped the small dandelion image from the CTMH Treasures stamp set in Grey Wool ink and then went over it with my Sakura clear gitter pen.  I don't know if it is showing, up but I used the PTI Linen impression plate for the base of the card.

Hope you call have a safe 4th and remember all those men and women in service who fight for our freedom and independence everyday (THANK YOU).
