The Stamps of Life - Hogs and Kisses

Here's another clean and simple card using the morepiggybank2stamp set from The Stamps of Life. This time I stamped the image diagonally in the same color ink but in varying patterns and die cut and matted them using the coordinating Piggy Bank die set and placed them diagonally across my card and trimmed. Fun and super easy.

The Stamps of Life - Love You Step-Up

This is the card you may have seen in Stephanie's video this month at The Stamps of Life.

I created it card using the Hearts Step-Up card die which makes this card super easy to do. Once I die cut the little piggy, I used the heart from the step-up set to die cut the shape into his little bottom. I added a gem for his eye and also die cut his tail.

I used the border strip also included in the step-up set and the word die as well. I just adore this little guy.

The Stamps of Life - Hog Wild

Here's a CAS card using the new piggybank2stamp set and coordinating die from The Stamps of Life. I cut the pig from felt using the die and added a gem for the eye. I love that the dies come with an outline die which in this case, I cut from black cardstock to make my little piggy pop.

To make the background, I inked up the embossing folder with Bubblegum ink and ran it through my cuttlebug and then matted it with Candy cardstock. The hearts were cut from Candy cardstock also.

This is the perfect card for that special someone or you could save it for Valentine's day next year. It'll be here before you know it.

Heartfelt Thanks - SugarPea Designs Tutorial

I hope you all had a nice Valentine's Day. I'm sure by now you are all done with all the hearts and pink and red and I promise this will be the last of my pink cards for awhile (maybe).

This a little tutorial I did for the SugarPea Designs Blog this week. I combined a clean and simple design with some mixed media.

I love to use dies in different ways and so for my card, I decided to use the Notched Heart Journal Card die to make a stencil by using it to cut a thin piece of acetate. This was a piece of packaging I saved from a stamp set. I used the acetate so that I can reuse the stencil for awhile since this material holds up better than cardstock but if you were only going to use it once, you could easily use a heavier piece of cardstock or light weight chipboard.

Using post-it notes, I masked off a section of my cardstock that is approximately 2”.

I then sponged some distress ink onto the area that I masked off.

I then mixed a little modeling paste and a couple sprays of dye ink together to get a darker pink paste.

I laid down my stencil and applied my paste over the hearts.

When you are done, remove the post-it notes. This technique gives your card some dimension and texture but not a lot of weight. You could also add some glitter to the paste if you wanted or use an iridescent paste.

After your panel has dried, embellish as you wish, add you sentiment and adhere to your card base.

Love - SugarPea Sketch 20

It's time for a new sketch at Sugar Pea Designs and I hope you'll join us.

I've been meaning to give this tutorial on Inlaid Die Cutting at Splitcoast a try for awhile now so for my card this week, I used the Heart Journal die and a couple others to make this valentine using the technique. I used Washi tape for my strips and added some half pearls and a large half pearl heart from my stash.

Now it's your turn. You can play along with any stamp you like - but if you use SugarPea Designs, we'll top your voucher up to $15!

Feel free to rotate/flip the sketch, or exchange any shapes for what works with your design, just make sure the sketch is recognizable!

Combine our sketch with any other challenge(s) (except another sketch!)

Upload to your blog or other online gallery using keyword: SPDSS20 so that we may check out your beautiful work.

Add your link to the linkup on the SugarPea Blog. You'll find our current challenges on the sidebar.

February Sugar Pea Sweet 2 Repeat Blog Hop

Welcome to the February SugarPea Designs Sweet 2 Repeat blog hop where we showcase our newest release and bring you loads of inspiration! Be sure to hop along and leave a comment at each stop along the way for a chance to win $20 to spend in the SugarPea Designs Online Shop!

This month I made a little Valentine that holds a Dove chocolate or you could put another little candy in it. I used the Classroom Cupids stamp set and the Heart Journal die collection to make the little holder. After I stamped the guitar, I cut it out and used foam to add a little dimension.

I used a circle punch and a scalloped circle punch to create the opening for the candy on the inside and a decorative scalloped punch for the border.

These go together fairly quickly and can be mass produced if you have little ones who want to give them out to their classmates.

Now don't forget to visit the other lovely ladies and leave comments along the way for your chance to win.

January ProjectPea Blog Hop

Welcome to the January Project Pea Blog Hop. Each month we challenge our fabulous team of Project Pea Designers to create FUN & CREATIVE projects that are sure to make you look at your stamp sets with brand new eyes!

For my project this month, I decided to make a little Valentine post-it note holder for my daughter. She reads a lot and likes to use the post-its to write notes in her books or when she is studying for a test.

To make this you need a piece of cardstock cut to 3 1/4" x 7 3/8". Then score along the long side at 3 1/8", 3 1/2" and 3 7/8". The 3 1/8" panel will be your front. To create the slot for the pen, you simply fold along the score lines and before you glue, cut two slits and bend out the folds to allow the pen to easily slip in.

Be sure to click through to each of their blogs below and leave them a little love and one lucky commenter will WIN a $15 Gift Certificate to the Sugar Pea Designs Shop.
