February ProjectPea Blog Hop

Welcome to the January Project Pea Blog Hop. Each month we challenge our fabulous team of Project Pea Designers to create FUN & CREATIVE projects that are sure to make you look at your stamp sets with brand new eyes!

For my project, I used this fun tutorial to make a gift bag from one sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" paper for a birthday or anytime gift for that special guy in your life. I chose papers and colors that were a bit more masculine and left off my usual bling. I stamped the owl and sentiment onto the tag and sponged all my edges with black ink.

Be sure to click through to each of their blogs below and leave them a little love and one lucky commenter will WIN a $15 Gift Certificate to the SugarPea Designs Shop.

This will be my last post as a member of the Project Pea Design Team as my term has come the an end. I hope I have inspired you with my cards and projects and I hope you will continue to follow my creative endeavors.

Make a Wish - Sugar Sketch 21

It's time for a new sketch at SugarPea Designs and I hope you'll join us.

For my card, I stamped my image with Versamark and used fine gold embossing powder on the fairy image from Fairy Sweet and then cut her out using a circle die. I used flower stickers in the corners and border stickers for my banners. I added a little bling to the corners as well. I also sponged all the edges of my papers and cardstock with gold ink.

Now it's your turn. You can play along with any stamp you like - but if you use SugarPea Designs, we'll top your voucher up to $15!

Feel free to rotate/flip the sketch, or exchange any shapes for what works with your design, just make sure the sketch is recognizable!

Combine our sketch with any other challenge(s) (except another sketch!)

Upload to your blog or other online gallery using keyword: SPDSS21 so that we may check out your beautiful work.

Add your link to the linkup on the SugarPea Blog. You'll find our current challenges on the sidebar.

SugarPea Designs SPD13 - Snowman

It's time for another challenge at Sugar Pea Designs and the theme is ...

Where I am we are experiencing freezing temps and some sort of snow every weekend so I thought it would be appropriate to make shaker card filled with "snow". I used the Heart Journal Card die to cut my window and filled it with a combination of coarse glitter and flakes. I random stamped the snowflakes from Frosty Friends along the frame in Versamark and then went over them with some Perfect Pearls. Unfortunately, the camera does not pick up the slight blue shimmer. The snowman also from Frosty Friends was colored with copics and the scarf and hat were paper pieced with some patterned paper and the the image was cut out.

Okay, now it's your turn. You can play along with any stamp you like - but if you use Sugar Pea Designs, we'll bump your voucher up to $15. You can combine our challenge with any other challenge(s). Upload to your blog or any other gallery using keyword SPD13 so that we can leave you some love and then be sure add your link to the linky on the SugarPea Blog.

Heartfelt Thanks - SugarPea Designs Tutorial

I hope you all had a nice Valentine's Day. I'm sure by now you are all done with all the hearts and pink and red and I promise this will be the last of my pink cards for awhile (maybe).

This a little tutorial I did for the SugarPea Designs Blog this week. I combined a clean and simple design with some mixed media.

I love to use dies in different ways and so for my card, I decided to use the Notched Heart Journal Card die to make a stencil by using it to cut a thin piece of acetate. This was a piece of packaging I saved from a stamp set. I used the acetate so that I can reuse the stencil for awhile since this material holds up better than cardstock but if you were only going to use it once, you could easily use a heavier piece of cardstock or light weight chipboard.

Using post-it notes, I masked off a section of my cardstock that is approximately 2”.

I then sponged some distress ink onto the area that I masked off.

I then mixed a little modeling paste and a couple sprays of dye ink together to get a darker pink paste.

I laid down my stencil and applied my paste over the hearts.

When you are done, remove the post-it notes. This technique gives your card some dimension and texture but not a lot of weight. You could also add some glitter to the paste if you wanted or use an iridescent paste.

After your panel has dried, embellish as you wish, add you sentiment and adhere to your card base.

February Sugar Pea Sweet 2 Repeat Blog Hop

Welcome to the February SugarPea Designs Sweet 2 Repeat blog hop where we showcase our newest release and bring you loads of inspiration! Be sure to hop along and leave a comment at each stop along the way for a chance to win $20 to spend in the SugarPea Designs Online Shop!

This month I made a little Valentine that holds a Dove chocolate or you could put another little candy in it. I used the Classroom Cupids stamp set and the Heart Journal die collection to make the little holder. After I stamped the guitar, I cut it out and used foam to add a little dimension.

I used a circle punch and a scalloped circle punch to create the opening for the candy on the inside and a decorative scalloped punch for the border.

These go together fairly quickly and can be mass produced if you have little ones who want to give them out to their classmates.

Now don't forget to visit the other lovely ladies and leave comments along the way for your chance to win.
