Me and My Space - Antique Dolls in my DonkeySmiles Store

Howdy -

It has been awhile since I showed some of my latest Antique treasures that I have found and now selling. Today I thought I would show off a few of my dolls - I have gotten a few that really make me happy. One or two that will be sad to see go. But that is the nature of the business - I get to have it for a little while then it goes on to a new home.

First I thought I would show a little sweet doll - A Kestner Mold 257  Bent Limb Baby Character Doll.

Mouth full for a little doll - but even with all that info she has one other thing that just sent me over the moon when I found it as part of her  -

I purchased her at an auction. Was told all the above in her description, but also that she was a sleep eye bisque doll. No rare thing at all - but after I got her home and started looking closer she is really rare -

Let me show her first .. then I'll tell you her rare quality if you don't see it right off -
Those that know dolls might say "oh she is a google eye" and if you only look at one photo that could be.

She does look off to the left side -
BUT with just a little tilt of her head she will then look off to the right!!
She is a FLIRTY EYE doll! And a Kestner! Which is a very collected maker. When the auction house listed her as a sleep eye that was correct, when they laid her back her eyes closed. But they did not realize that there was tissue paper in her head, ( a good practice when shipping bisque dolls with movable weighted glass eyes as they can break very easily ) But when I pulled the tissue out to make sure she was solid and working properly I saw all of this!!
Hubby thought I was nuts.. well many times he does... but I was yelling to come and see quick! Very detailed workings for such an old bisque doll. The weights move up and down for the sleep eyes, then side to side for the flirty eyes. OH and the sleep part... that has a rare feature too!! Usually the glass eyes just roll 1/2 way and the top part of the eye is painted flesh color. But these eyes have small metal eye lids that slide down just like eye lids! So totally cool!

Anyway... was really exciting to me, I have read about these dolls, but to have gotten one at auction as a bonus feature was really fabulous! And after I sat and played with her for a while... leaning her left to right and making her eyes move around I took all the photos and got her listed in my eBay store. There are a whole bunch of photos in the listing if you would like to know more... HA... that sounded like the movie Starship Troopers... love that movie! You can see the Kestner Flirty Eye Doll HERE in my EBay store.

I actually am listing quite a few dolls lately. We don't have too many shows over the summer - and I want to buy more dolls and different dolls for the Fall shows - so I am moving stock on eBay...

I have a tiny little Kestner doll listed - she is only 4.75" inches. Sweet little thing -
She is listed HERE -

A much larger Kestner - She measures 23" tall! And is that a hairdo or what!!
She is listed HERE -

A totally adorable little guy listed too - A Scotsman in his full tartan kilt costume! He is only 7 1/2" tall
He is listed HERE

And even a much later but just as sweet - Storybook Doll - mid 1940's for this cutie -
 She is listed HERE -

There are lots of things going on now in my eBay store - I think I have way over 100 items now! See I have been very busy!

I have Dolls - Toys - Cher Items - Toy Cars - Vintage Fashion Clothing - Old Creamware Ironstone - Antique Etching Art - OH... and a whole bunch of crafting items! Mostly smaller 6x6, 8x8 paper pads, Stamps and even a few Dies.

Got lots listed - I think this weekend I deserve a little crafting stamping coloring time for fun! After I do a little house cleaning ... sigh.

I'll be back Saturday for Animal Crackers -

Me and My Space - getting into a few different eBay items

Howdy -

Things have been really busy around here. Lots of Normal and Lots of getting things out, cleaned up and on eBay. Since there are no antique shows for the past couple of weeks we decided to go through the stock and move some items. So not only have I been listing the estate I am working through, but now we are listing items from our own stock.

So lots of items going on and selling in our eBay store. More "man" type of antiques with Hubby's trucks. Some of my Antique dolls, and other toys. Then I got into some new items in the estate that found me really ooohing and aaahhing. But I snapped photos and listed them.

Got into a box of vintage fabrics, embroidery and doily items. Listed a stunning Lithograph fabric Pillow Cover from 1900! The color and image are really stunning! Would love to add to my own collection of pretty things... but have to think business like and listed it. But really... look how pretty it is!

Just as it was purchased over 100 years ago!! Never used, just folded and put away. This are gorgeous Victorian pillows - but I have seen them framed as well.

Found a finished vintage needlepoint.  Large size like for a bench top or long rectangle pillow.
I have really never finished any needlepoint so buying someone else's hard work would be a great way for me to work with a pretty piece like this.

Picked out a few of our stock Antique Pressed steel trucks to list - this one sure is a pretty one. Toys from the 1920's and 30's sure were great weren't they? Look sturdy - imagination - well made and NO BATTERIES!

This one has been totally restored. The paint is like a mirror!! My truck didn't have a paint job like this when I drove off the showroom floor!  Great toy.

And then a pretty little dolly - Love this ones eyes.

Sweet little German Bisque doll from Heubach Kopplesdorf - I have "stocked" up so many great porcelain bisque dolls that I am thinking I need to list a bunch more. Only way to have room to buy more right? LOL That is the BEST part of doing this. I get to "play" with wonderful antiques, then I price them and sell them so I can go out and find more. And yes... a few do hurt when they sell... Sold a doll last month that I fell in love with, got it, next day took it to a show and it sold 30 minutes into the first day. Hubby was worried I wasn't going to let go of it... LOL

Hope you enjoy seeing a few of the antiques we deal with - You can see all the listings in the DonkeySmiles eBay store you can click on the link on the bar on the right -

Have a blessed day -

Howdy - just a little FYI

Howdy - Time is just flying by isn't it? I really can't even tell you where the first of the week went...

I looked up this morning and it was Wednesday - where did Monday and Tuesday go? LOL I am crafting... sort of... working on our personal Christmas Cards mostly. I worked a 1/2 a day on the photos for it ( I traditionally do photo cards with the animals ) I worked over 1/ 2 a day on it... was just about all done and then got up to do something came back and it was gone! I mean like gone gone. I have no clue what happened, we didn't have a power blink or anything. I am blaming the cat... she must have ran across the keyboard or something. Poor Gato gets blamed for so many things. So I had to start all over!! I almost have it done now, then I can start printing and putting it together. So hopefully my cards will go out by the weekend... or first of the week...

My other project of the week - my eBay store. Yep it finally has "stuff" in it. Mostly paper pads, some dies, and some stamps. It is all coming in a little at a time, so I am just going to be adding it as it does. So please pop in from time to time, as there is lots on order. My store link is HERE - their is also a link on my side bar.  It will have mostly crafting supplies, but a few antiques as well.

So are you guys ready for Christmas? Less than two weeks away... I have a couple of things I am working on, and just a few gifts to still pick up, we are not really doing major Christmas this year. Mainly just time with family and quiet time I think. Sounds nice to me. Usually we are scheduled full, but this year it is slow and quiet. I am really liking that too - a few days on slow motion and pause will be nice, seems like the last couple of months have been on fast forward.

Hmmm what else has been going on.. oh yes, went to the Dr's office to have an official weigh in - I am now finally officially at 50 lbs. lost.  I have told you before that those "0" marks are so hard for me to get to. Took forever to hit the 40 lbs. mark, and then this 50 was about to drive me nuts. I would loose 3 then gain 1, loose 1, then stay the same, was insane. Nice sweet "little" nurse kept encouraging me and saying it is muscle... it weighs more, and you are exercising more so don't worry about it.  LOL she was so sweet, but really... it was making me nuts. So now I am at the mark, and now I can start heading to the next one. Slowly but surely - But as long as it is still coming off I am ok with it. Not quite as fast as I would have liked but hey it took me.... well a long time, to get this way, if it takes me a couple of years to get it all off I'll be a happy camper. And a much healthier and smaller one!

Ok, now I have to get back to work on those cards - Sorry for the lack of cards and projects here - it is that time of year ... HO HO HO

Just Magnolias and Hanglars Challenge - Pearls and Die cuts

Howdy - How has your week been going? Here things are chugging along and doing pretty good.  I know makes me nervous to even say it... normal quiet.  Hubby has been mowing like a crazy person as it is suppose to rain again this weekend and he hasn't caught up from all the growing from the last rain. He has also been working on the "garage" for the Model T.

Me.. I have been a busy beaver, I have been cleaning, photographing, and getting things written up for my new Ebay store. Right now it is mostly just "antiques and collectibles" but I will be putting more craft fun in there soon promise.  It is small right now, but I hope it will get bigger and bigger :0)  If you would like to visit it...  http://stores.ebay.com/DonkeySmiles-Antiques-and-Crafting  ... please remember I am just getting things going :0)

I also have been crafting a ton this week. I know you are looking back at my blog saying "Really?"  But honestly I have! Next week both Whimsy Stamps and High Hopes Stamps have New Releases! So there will be lots of fabulous new images to see!  Hmmm... what else? Oh lost another 2 lbs. this week so I am at 39 gone so far... just short of that big number 40 lbs!!! Hopefully next week I will get over that hurdle. Why is it that those numbers are so hard to hit? thought I would never get to 20, and 30 came finally... and now I am just hanging under 40... 50 is a biggie mark for me so you will se some serious celebrating there!

Ok, how about if I show a card? Today is the Just Magnolia and Hanglar Challenge, and I actually remembered and got my card done a few days ago! The challenge this week is to use pearls and die cuts/punches on your project. Well the pearls that is an easy one, and since I have been trying to play with my new Silhouette Cameo this week, I thought die cutting a shape for my card would be a good test for me. And to get even more testing, I used my gift card that came with it, and downloaded a file to use. I did it! I picked one out, downloaded, opened, resized and cut it out perfectly! So so proud of myself :0)

Here is my card... sorry I ended up going just a tad overboard with the die cuts...

Told you way too much huh? LOL Ok, so I started out with the Silhouette die cut. I believe it is called "Iron Gate Oval". I cut it and then went to my Magnolias to see what would "fit" You see the height was cut at 5.75 inches so the oval could not be any larger. I then found this Tilda that sort of looked to me like she could be looking in a mirror at her new dress. So I colored her up with my Copics ( I am so sorry.. I forgot to take a photo of the colors) I then hand cut her using the center as a traceable oval and cut a bit larger to go behind. For my card I used the same dark brown card stock as the base, a light pink mat, and then a sheet of Prima Tea Time pattern paper. I sewed it in place, added a satin ribbon for more color and then glued down Tilda is my massive die cut. Added pearls to the circles of the die cut. It seemed empty in the corners. Really it wasn't right to me. So I looked over and saw my Memory Box Corner flourish... uh it is pretty close don't you think? glued them down in the corners, and added more pearls. Uh... no where for a sentiment... LOL

I used some Stickles on Tilda's jewels and made her dress all sparkly.

The inside is pretty much the same, just a different piece of the pattern paper.

too much? Oh well I had fun playing. How about you? I know you have pearls and die cuts or punches so join us for a fabulous prize again this week. Hop on over to the challenge HERE and see all the DT's projects and then link up your project.

OH my on the run today! A few errands for me while Hubby is working on the garage. And while out I am planning to meet up with BFF Tracey for a more than needed pedicure! And then the grocery store...sigh... man I hate going there lately. Nothing sounds good! Need something new and different to make, that doesn't take all day to prepare. May do a search for some ideas before I go...

So what you up to today? Plans for the weekend? Share....

Have a great one! HUGS and
