Hearts

This card is 4"x6." I used some black and white patterned cardstock for the base. I cut a piece of black cardstock at 4 1/2"x2 1/2," pink cardstock at 4 1/4"x2 1/4" and some white cardstock at 4"x2." I layered them all together and then mounted them to the card. The four hearts in the corners are from the Wedding cartridge and the heart border is from Stamping. The two hearts at the top are cut at 1 1/2" and the two at the bottom are cut at 1 1/4." The heart border is cut at 1 1/2." I used the shadow feature on all of them. I adhered the corner hearts with pop-dots for some added dimension. I finished off the card with a sentiment stamp.
I made this for the following challenges:

Valentine's Day Pixie

The challenge at My Creative Time is to use Paper Doll Dress Up or Everday Paper Dolls and add some embossing. I chose to use the pixie on Paper Doll Dress Up. I thought she would make a cute little Valentine's Day card for a little girl. I used the sketch and theme of "M is for Magical" at ABC Challenge. I also am entering this in Alphabet Challenge, which is "L is for Ladies;" they want to see ladies on your projects. This week's Let's Face It Friday at Peachy Keen is to use their face stamps and also use X's and O's on your project. Finally, I also made this for Papercraft Star. Their challenge is to use some or all of the colors (magenta, orange, teal, aqua) and to use two or more of the following elements: ribbon, embossing, stamped image and die cut.

The card is 5"x5" and made of a shimmery white cardstock. I cut a piece of magenta cardstock at 4 3/4"x4 3/4." I then embossed the cardstock with one of the Once Upon a Princess companion folders. The aqua strip is cut at 5"x1 1/2" and embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. I wrapped some ribbon around it and adhered that to the card. I cut a piece of white cardstock at 4"x4 1/2" and punched it with a Martha Stewart border punch. I cut some aqua cardstock at 3 1/4"x4 1/4" and some shimmery white cardstock at 3"x4." I used the Stamping cartridge to cut out the XOXO that is in the background, they are cut at 3/4." I then glittered it with some white glitter. The little pixie is cut from Paper Doll Dress Up and cut at 3 1/2." I inked her hair a little and added some gems to the flowers on the belt and wand. I used a Peachy Keen stamp for the face and colored in her mouth. She is pop-dotted to the card for some added dimension.

Favorite Things

This week's Jitterbuggin' challenge goes hand in hand with today's 365 Cards challenge. They are both about your favorite things. The rules for this week's Jitterbuggin are: follow the sketch, use your favorite thing as the subject (favorite food, drink, animal, character...you get the point), use your two favorite colors, use the Cricut, and as a bonus make a folded paper frame. The challege at 365 Cards is to make a card inspired by your favorite food or drink.
A few years ago I used to work at a coffee shop with my best friend. It was great and we both loved trying new coffee drinks. I love chocolate, so that was pretty much always a staple in my drinks. Whether they were hot chocolates, mochas, frappaccinos, or flavored coffees. Mmm...makes me want something now! So, I went with coffee as my favorite drink for the image. I stamped the inside with the perfect sentiment, "coffee and friends are the perfect blend." What can be better than a good cup of java with your best friend? My favorite colors are brown and green, so I used that for the colors of my card, and I did go for the bonus and made the folded paper frame. It was super easy and looks great!
The card is 5"x5." I seem to make a lot of square cards when I do the Jitterbuggin' sketches, not sure why, but I do like them so it doesn't bother me. The circle was cut at 4 1/2" from George and Basic Shapes. The folded frame started off as a 5"x5" square and worked perfectly for this size card. The coffee cup was cut at 1 1/4" from the Stamping Solutions cartridge. I used some Martha Stewart glitter on the corners of the folded frame and I put a piece of the striped paper in the back for some contrast. The swirls in the corners are paper clips that I thought were perfect, since I don't have any steam coming out of the cup, they are the symbolic steam. I really like how it turned out and I think I will have to send it to my friend, she would love it too. Enjoy!
