Leprechaun Hat

I had a rare Monday off today, although that was simply because I was working last night until midnight.  So, I decided to be a little craft today, when I eventually got up, and I thought I would make a St. Patrick's Day project.

The hat was created using the digital cartridge "Independence Day 3D Projects."  It was cut at 5," which means that it is 5" tall when all assembled.  I cut all the layers of the hat in green and all the layers of the band in black.  I then used "Autumn Celebrations" for the hat buckle.  It is on page 49 of the handbook, the layer 1 (shift) feature.  It was cut at 2 1/4" and covered with yellow glitter, then glossy accents.

The clover is from the Silhouette Store.  It is called "3D Bunch of Clover" and is by Jamie Cripps (#55883).  I cut it at about 3 1/2" from four different pieces of patterned paper.  I adhered them to the right side of the hat at the hatband and then tied some black baker's twine in a bow and adhered it over the stems of the clover.

The banner was also created with the Silhouette.  The banner itself is called "3D Banner Curved Top," and is also by Jamie Cripps (#53913).  I used a font from my computer to create the "Happy St. Patrick's Day" sentiment.  I printed it out, then cut it out with the Silhouette Cameo.  I adhered the banner to the top of the hat with some floral wire so that it would stand upright.

The leprechaun is from the digital cartridge "St. Patrick's Day."  I cut him at 4."  I covered the hatband and his waistcoat with yellow glitter and adhered him to the banner.

The pot of gold is from "Simply Charmed."  It is on page 33 and was cut at 3 1/4."  I covered the lighter parts of the gold with yellow glitter, then glossy accents.

I made this for the following challenges:

BBTB2: St. Patrick's Day
My Sheri Crafts: glitter, crystals, or bling of some kind
Cardz TV: 3D St. Patrick's project

Luck o' the Irish

I think this might be one of my favorite St. Patrick's Day creations!  I think this little guy turned out so cute!!

I used a Silhouette file to cut the 3D pot o' gold out of a shimmery metallic black cardstock.  I currently have no gold to put inside of the pot, but I will find something soon enough...probably some mini Hershy bars or something.  :)  The pot is about 4" tall when all assembed.  I wrapped peapod twine around the top of the pot and tied on the shamrock, which was also part of the cut file.

The leprechaun is from Simply Charmed.  He is cut at 5."  I used CCR to hide his face so that I could use a Peachy Keen stamp instead.  I used the largest face on the Simple Sallies Assortment.  I did not stamp the eyebrows and used the ones cut from Simply Charmed.  His eyebrows and hair are flocked with orange flocking powder.  I used a shimmery metallic gold for his hat buckle then, to make it seem even more like metal, I covered it in glossy accents.  I also covered his boots in glossy accents, as well as his eyes.  I used a shiny red gel pen to color his mouth and used some chalk to give his cheeks a little color.  To finish off my little leprechaun I used a gold metal brad for the button on his jacket.

I made this for the following challenges:

Just Hatched

My friend's sister is having a baby soon.  She is a paleontologist, which means she is into dinosaurs, she is also quite a tomboy.  However, she is having a girl.  I made some onesies for her with some baby dinos on the front (which of course I didn't take a picture of).  So, I made a cute little gift bag for them with a matching card.
I used Dino Play for the dinosaurs.  I also used Simply Charmed for the sentiment on the gift bag.  I think they turned out so cute and they are the perfect packaging for the onesies!  Enjoy!!

Friday Mashup Guest Designer

I am so honored to have been asked to be a guest designer for the month of March at the Friday Mashup challenge blog. If you have never seen their challenge blog, check it out, they are always so fun! So, now onto the challenge:

Challenge #48

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :

Make a project for "St. Patrick's Day".

Or Make a project using "at least 2 Punches".

Or "Mash it Up" and create a project for "St. Patrick's day using your Punches

This is the project that I made...a St. Patrick's Day banner! I think it turned out so cute!! I didn't have any punches that were just screaming to be used, so I just went with the St. Patrick's Day project. I started with the shamrocks, they are from Paper Doll Dress Up, cut at 3." The letters are cut from Art Nouveau at 2." The pots of gold are cut from Simply Charmed at 5." The leprechauns are also from Simply Charmed and also at 5." I cut all pieces from chipboard first, then layered my papers on. I used pop-dots to adhere both the letters to the shamrocks and the shamrocks to the pots of gold. I used glossy accents on the pots (it takes FOREVER for that much surface are to dry, by the way) and also on the buckles of the leprechauns' hats. I also used some bling for their buttons, yellow Stickles on the gold and gave the leprechauns some slightly rosy cheeks with chalk. I punched some holes on each side of each piece and added some eyelets, orange on the leprechauns and black for the pots. I linked them all together using jump rings, which are primarily used in jewelry-making. I used some green ribbon to tie off each end of the banner.

I hope you enjoyed my project and I hope that you decide to join along in this challenge!

First of the Month Challenge #19

Welcome to another set of First of the Month Challenges, hosted by Card Creations & More by C. Our first challenge for you today is to use the Simply Charmed cartridge. For my project I created a fall card using the scarecrow cut from Simply Charmed. The card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4." I used dark brown cardstock for the card base, then cut some orange cardstock 1/4" smaller and the leaf cardstock 1/4" smaller than the orange. The scarecrow is cut at 4." I used black pearls for his eyes and buttons on his overalls. I used some brown and pink chalk for his cheeks. I also used the "happy fall" sentiment from Simply Charmed. I used my Gypsy to hide the face cut in the "a" in "fall" and added a cutout from the "a" in "happy." I put my scarecrow on a popsicle stick then adhered him to the card base, using pop-dots to adhere his head and arms down. I used some glossy accents on his shoes and adhered the sentiment over the top.

Now it is your turn to come up with something from the Simply Charmed cartridge. Link it up at the First of the Month Challenge and I can't wait to see what you come up with!!

Guest Designer at My Sheri Crafts

I am honored to have been selected as the Guest Designer for this week's challenge at My Sheri Crafts! This week's challenge is to create something Summer or Beach Themed.
I created this 8 1/2"x11" layout for the challenge. The background paper is from K&Company. It was a 12"x12" piece of paper that I trimmed to fit. I cut a piece of brown cardstock 8 1/2" long then hand cut it to look like some sand. I ran it through my Xyron sticker maker then covered it with some smoky quartz glitter by Martha Stewart. The photo is 4"x6" and matted twice with blue cardstocks. The light glittery blue cardstock is cut at 4 1/4"x6 1/4" and the dark turquoise one is cut at 4 1/2"x6 1/2." I used All Mixed Up to cut the "beach" sentiment. It is cut at 1 1/2" and I used my Gypsy to weld it. I used Cricut Keystone to cut the B & Y in "boy." They are cut at 1 3/4." I used Pack Your Bags to cut the beach ball for the O in "boy." It is also cut at 1 3/4." I covered the red, blue and yellow pieces with glossy accents. I also used pop-dots to adhere the beach ball to the page, the rest of the title is just adhered onto the paper. The sandcastle is cut at 2 3/4" from Life is a Beach. I added some x-mas red Stickles to the flags. The shovel and pail is from Simply Charmed, I just didn't use the face. It is cut at 2 1/4." I used some diamond Stickles on the white piece on the pail and some glossy accents on the rest of the pail. The photo is the son of a friend of mine. I met her in when I lived in Alaska and was there when her son was born. They now live in Georgia (her husband is in the Army), so she sends me photo updates of the little guy and I just loved this one!

For Me?!

Day 99 at 365 Cards is to make a birthday card that you would want to recieve if one was designed just for you. I was having a hard time narrowing down just exactly what I wanted to do, until I saw the challenge at Cooking with Cricut. Their challenge is "Pick Your Poison," to use your favorite cartridge and favorite color to create your project. I decided to combine these two challenges and came up with this birthday card that I would love to get!
Simply Charmed is one of my favorite cartridges, there are just so many cute images on it. My favorite one is the penguin! I used the penguin to create a shaped card. Using my Gypsy I welded two shadow images of the penguin and cut it out of glittery black cardstock. The penguin is cut at 5." I created the rest of the penguin with regular cardstock. One of my favorite colors is blue, so I used that for the party hat, candle and stamping on the banner. I used Paper Pups for the party hat, the regular and solid feature, it is cut at 2 3/4." The banner is cut at 3 1/2" from Jubilee. I stamped the sentiment on there and added some dots of midnight blue Stickles. The cupcake is from Doodlecharms and cut at 2 1/2." I embossed the icing layer with D'vine Swirls, then drew over the swirls with liquid pearls. I used glossy accents on his beak and the candle, crackle accents on his feet and some yellow Stickles on the candle flame. How much fun is this card?! I love it!!

Thank You Berry Much

This is a 4"x4" set of gift cards. I used a white cardstock for the base and made four cards. I cut 3 3/4" squares from the grass patterned cardstock, then cut them on the diagonal to make triangles. I adhered the triangles to the card base, then wrapped it with some green twine. The strawberries are cut from Simply Charmed at 3." I used my Cuttlebug and the Swiss Dots embossing folder to emboss the red layer of the strawberries. I used pop-dots to adhere them to the card base. The sentiment is a stamp from My Pink Stamper. I stamped them with warm red ink by ColorBox.

I made these for the following challenges:

365 Cards: "Day 69" - sketch

BBTB2: Simply Charmed - strawberry

Flaunt It Fridays Challenge #19

It is Friday and that means that it is time for another challenge at Flaunt It Fridays! This week the challenge is to use Simply Charmed and flaunt the fish 2 cut. As soon as I saw that this was the cut to flaunt I knew I wanted to make a layout from a halibut fishing trip I took with my husband and a couple of our friends.
This is a double layout, each page is 12"x12." I used a patterned cardstock from DCWV, the Textures & Finishes Stack. The pictures are 4"x6" and matted using a Debbie Mumm patterned cardstock, cut at 4 1/2"x6 1/2." The title is cut from All Mixed Up, using the shadow feature, and cut at 1 1/4." The fishing rod and fish on the left page is cut at 4." The fish on the right hand page are cut at 4" for the smaller two and 5" for the larger one. I used my Gypsy to only cut out the fish and hide contour on the fishing pole part of the cut. I cut a large brown rectangle at 4"x8" and a cream one at 3 1/2"x7 1/2." This is where I will do my journaling, when I figure out exactly what I am going to say. :)
That is my project...now it is your turn! Head on over to Flaunt It Fridays and check out what the rest of the design team has come up with for this cute little fish and get inspired. Then create your own project and link it up. I can't wait to see how you flaunt it!! :)

Happy Easter Chickies!

Here is a fun Easter card for you all! This one is 4 1/2"x6 1/4." I used a blue metallic cardstock for the card base, then cut some striped cardstock 1/8" smaller and adhered it to the card base. I cut some dark purple cardstock at 5 7/8"x2 3/4" and some shimmery white cardstock at 5 3/4"x2 5/8." I embossed the white cardstock with the Polka Dots folder. All the chicks are cut from Simply Charmed at 2 1/4." I flocked each chick with yellow flocking powder and used some Blueberry Slush glitter from Martha Stewart. I added some black pearls for their eyes and finished it off by tying a yellow ribbon around the card.

For the inside of the card I cut some light blue glitter cardstock at 6 1/8"x4 3/8" and some purple cardstock at 6"x4 1/4." I then cut some white cardstock 5 3/4"x4." I then used a stamp from Inkadinkado for the sentiment. I used embossing ink and some purple embossing powder. I heat set it and over heated part of it to give it a varigated look. I then used Simply Charmed again to cut out just the cracked egg, cut at 1 1/2."
I made this for the Jitterbuggin' "Spring Fling" contest. The rules are to follow the sketch, make an Easter card and use your Cricut. There will be voting to see who is the winner of this contest, so please vote for my card if you like it. Voting runs from April 16-April 19. :) I also made this card for the Paper Cutz Challenge, which is to make an Easter card. Finally, I used the cupcake photo at Cupcake Inspirations as a color inspiration, for some of the colors, and because I really liked the little chick on the cupcake in the lower left corner. Enjoy!!

Kiss Me...

Here is a super fun shaped card for you today! I used the pot of gold from Simply Charmed and welded two images on my Gypsy to get my card base. It is cut at 5." I used a shimmery gold cardstock for the base, then cut the gold pieces from yellow cardstock and the pot from black cardstock. I then used some yellow Stickles on the gold (because you HAVE to have sparkly gold) and some glossy accents on the pot. The glossy accents too FOREVER to dry since it was such a large area. :) The shamrock is cut from Paper Doll Dress Up. The larger layer is cut at 3 1/2" and the smaller one is cut at 3." I then added some faux stitching around both images and gave him a cute Peachy Keen face. I added a piece of green bling and pop-dotted the smaller layer to the larger layer. I cut the lips from Indie Art, using my Gyspy so I could hide all those cut-outs, at 3/4" from a pink cardstock. I then added some diamond Stickles to them. The sentiment, "Kiss Me," is from Sweethearts. I cut it at 1 1/2" and added some faux stitching and some bling to it as well. I tied a ribbon around my pot and then layered my pieces on. I cut out the pot of gold again, this time in a glittery yellow and the pot in green for the inside. I then stamped the, "i'm Irish," sentiment on the inside. This card is about 5"x5" with all its layers. I just love how it turned out! :)

I made this card for the following challenges:
  • Peachy Keen: "Let's Face It Friday" - use faux or real stitching
  • Paper Cutz: St. Patrick's Day
  • My Creative Time: "Throwback Thursday" - use an older cartridge and make something for St. Patrick's Day

Little Leprechaun

Here is a fun shape card, and I love how it turned out! The card shape, the top hat, is from A Child's Year. I used my Gypsy to weld two 5" top hats together. The cut actually has a shamrock in it, but I hid it using the hide countour feature on the Gypsy. I used a shimmery dark green cardstock for the hat. I then cut the hat band using a light green glitter cardstock. I added some faux stitching around the edge of the hat with a white gel pen. I cut the top hat again at 5" with a plain light green cardstock for the inside. I then used a dark green marker to add some faux stitching on the inside as well. I stamped my sentiment, which is from Studio g, in black ink and then I heat embossed it with a glittery embossing poweder. I added glitter to the word "irish" for some glitz. The leprechaun is from Simply Charmed and I cut him at 3 1/4." I added some glossy accents to his buckle, button and shoes and used some black pearls for his eyes. I also inked his cheeks and added some faux stitching around his jacket and hat. The pot of gold is also from Simply Charmed and cut at 1 3/4." I used some glossy accents on the pot and some yellow Stickles on the gold. I then used pop-dots to adhere the pot of gold to the card.

Love Bug

I have one more for you today....a step card. I made this step card from black cardstock. I then used some core'dinations cardstock for the side panels. I embossed them with the Seeing Spots embossing folder and then I sanded the embossed part and the edges so the red would show through. I cut a piece of patterned cardstock and mounted it on the back step. I cut the sentiment, "love bug," from Simply Charmed at 1 1/4." The heart is cut at 2 1/4" from Simply Sweet. I then mounted it on the second step. The ladybug is from Create a Critter at 3 1/4" and mounted it on the front. I used the shadow feature on all the pieces that I cut. On the ladybug I did not glue the wings down, so that I could bend them up a little and give it a little more depth and dimension.
I made this card for the following challenges:

I'd Pick You!

This card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4." I used kraft cardstock for the card base and some paper with a grass pattern on it as my next layer, I then cut it at 4 1/4"x6." I cut the fence from My Community, I used the fit to length feature so that it would fit 4 1/2" across the card. I then embossed it using the Forest Branches embossing folder. The two flowers are from Simply Charmed. I cut the larger one at 3" and the smaller one at 2." I then used some Peachy Keen stamps for their faces. The sentiment is from My Pink Stamper.

Flaunt It Fridays Challenge #7

The challenge this Friday is to use the skull and crossbones on the Mini Monsters cartridge, on page 65 of the handbook, in a non-Halloween project. The first thing I thought of for this cut was to make something pirate related. As I mulled it over more this layout idea came up and I put it all together. It actually turned out pretty much how I envisioned it, which is always nice. This layout is 12"x12." I used Debbie Mumm paper for the background. I cut the map paper in the background from Old West, at 8 1/2." I then inked the edges in gingerbread ink by Tsukineko. I left room for a 4"x6" photo. The blue paper is also Debbie Mumm, cut at 4 1/4"x6 1/4" and the tan paper is cut at 4 1/2"x6 1/2" and I also inked it with the gingerbread ink. The little pirate boy is from B is for Boys and he is cut at 5." The sentiment, "Little Buccaneer," cut at 1 1/2," and "Treasure Map," cut at 1," is from Blackletter. I welded the title on my Gypsy before cutting it out. The palm tree is cut at 2," and the tikis are cut at 3/4," 1" and 1 1/4" and are all from Life is a Beach. The treasure chest is also from Life is a Beach, cut at 2." I cut the gold from Simply Charmed. I used my Gypsy to figure out what size would work for the treasure chest. I cut them out twice and put them in the chest. The skull and crossbones is from Mini Monsters and cut at 1 1/2." I finished off the layout with doodling on the map (for the trail) the tikis, the chest and the title. I added some yellow Stickles to the gold to make it shine.I hope you enjoyed my little layout and I can't wait to see what you come up with for this week's challenge! Come on over to Flaunt It Fridays to play along!
