Waving Hello

Here is a quick and simple card for you today.

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4," and made from dark purple card stock.  The blue mat was cut with a rectangle from "George and Basic Shapes."  I used Cricut Craft Room to size it at 5 3/8"x4 1/8," this required turning off the aspect ratio.  I used the rectangle found on page 116 of the handbook.

The waves are from the "Going Places" cartridge.  They were cut at a length of 5 3/8," and I cut three of them.  They are on page 113 of the handbook, I hid the sailboat since I only wanted the waves.

The sailboat and sentiment are both Paper Smooches stamps.  They are both from the Wicked Nauticool stamp set.  I stamped the sailboat on white card stock, fussy cut it out, then colored in the mast and body of the boat with the vintage photo Distress Marker by Tim Holtz.  I adhered it so that it was slightly under the second layer of waves.  The sentiment is not actually one long one, but stacked with waving above hello.  I masked it off to create the long one since it worked better with the layout of my card.  It is stamped in black Versafine ink by Tsukineko.

And now the inside:

I cut more of the blue card stock at the same size, 5 3/8"x4 1/8," this time I did it with my straight trimmer though.  I then cut a white piece of card stock at 5 1/8"x3 7/8."  I used more Paper Smooches stamps for the inside as well.  The sentiment is from the Word Up set.  I then added a heart and some waves, both from the Wicked Nauticool set again.  The heart was stamped in purple hydrangea ink by Tsukineko and the sentiment and waves were stamped in the black Versafine ink again.  I then added a little bit of blue to the waves with the tumbled glass Distress Marker by Tim Holtz.

I made this for the following challenges:
Color Throwdown: color combination

CASology: cue card - sea

Paper Smooches Sparks: anything goes

Fantabulous Cricut: anything goes

Graveyard Box

I was feeling crafty today!  Ever since I have started school I have not been crafting as much as I used to, but I made the time today.  Here is the Halloween box I made this evening:

I used the "Wrap It Up" Cricut cartridge to create the base of this box, it is on page 62 of the handbook.  It was cut at 10" out of dark grey card stock, using the box feature.  I also cut it again from green, then just trimmed it to keep the grass.  The black piece, that highlights the grass, and the gravestone are the box feature on shift.  I used Cricut Craft Room to hide parts of those cuts so that I could cut them in different colors.

I used some stamps from Scrappy Moms Stamps to accent and provide a sentiment on the gravestone.  The spiderweb and bat are from the Bewitched set and the sentiment is from the A Haunting We Will Go set.  I also inked around the edges of the gravestone with pumice stone Distress Ink.

The zombie hands reaching up from the earth are from the Silhouette Store.  They are by Rivka Wilkins (#48133).  I cut them at about 2" from varying shades of grey and green.  I adhered them to the box with foam tape.

I put the box together, but left one side unadhered so that I could put something inside, then seal it up later.

I made this for the following challenges:
BBTB2: gift box
Fantabulous Cricut: Halloween project
Scrappy Moms Stamps: Happy Halloween
{PIN}spirational Challenges: spooky Halloween picture
Die Cuttin' Divas: Happy Halloween

Outhouse

How is this for a fun shaped card?

I used the "Outdoor Man" cartridge and Cricut Craft Room to create this shaped card.  The image can be found on page 37 of the handbook.  I welded two of the shadows together to create the card base.  I then cut another shadow for the front of the card and adhered all my layers to it.

The image was cut at 7."  I embossed the light brown part of the door with the Distress Stripes embossing folder.  I then inked it with tea dye Distress Ink.  The grass is also inked, but with crushed olive Distress Ink.  I adhered the door to look like it was partially open.  The hinged side is adhered to the card, the middle has one layer of foam tape, and the handle side has two layers of foam tape.  I covered the dark brown parts of the door (hinges, handle, crescent moon) with glossy accents.

The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps, the Happy Campers set.  I stamped it on light brown card stock, then matted it with a medium brown card stock.  The sentiment is stamped in walnut stain Distress Ink.  I then added two bronze brads to the sign and used some baker's twine to give it a way to hang.  I hung it over another larger bronze brad in the door.  The sign is actually adhered with foam tape.

I am entering this in the current challenge at BBTB2, which is to make something to do with camping.

Moth Shaped Card

I love shaped cards and thought that the moth in the "Art Nouveau" cartridge would lend itself very nicely to a shaped card.  I don't think I was wrong.

The moth is on page 55 of the handbook.  I cut it at 4 3/4" for all the layers.  I used Cricut Craft Room to weld two shadows of the image together to create the card base.  I then cut another shadow and used that for the card top for all my layers.

I covered the dark orange pieces with some dark orange glitter, then covered them in diamond glaze.  The lighter accent pieces are covered with tattered rose Distress Stickles.  The sentiment is one I found in my stash.  It is stamped in rich cocoa ink by Tsukineko.

Nouveau Bee

Today's card is 4 1/4"x5 1/2."  I used dark brown card stock for the card base.  The hexagonal print mat is 4"x5 1/4."  I wrapped the bottom part with some dark brown ribbon and tied a bow with the same ribbon.

The circle is cut at 2 1/2" and is from the "Cricut Craft Room Basics" digital cartridge (basic-shift and shadow-shift).  I popped it up with foam tape.

The bee is from the "Art Nouveau" cartridge (page 56).  It was cut at 2 1/2."  I pieced it all together and added it to the circle.  I then covered the ivory part of the wings with star dust Stickles and the brown stripes with cinnamon Stickles.  The yellow parts are covered with glossy accents and the eyes are brown gems.  The entirety of the wings are also covered with glossy accents.

The sentiment is from my stash and stamped in rich cocoa ink by Tsukineko.

I made this for the following challenges:

Super Bird-day!

Dang it!  I didn't come up with the "bird-day" thing until after I had already stamped my sentiment on the card!  Such a lost opportunity!  Oh well, the sentiment still works and the card is still cute.  Maybe next time.

I used "3 Birds on Parade" (again) to create this fun shaped card, great for a little boy's birthday.  I used the superhero bird image, on page 69 of the handbook.  I cut the shadow image twice from white card stock and adhered them at the top to create my card base.  All the pieces were cut at 3 3/4."  This makes the card 3.944"x8.653" when all assembled.  I used Cricut Craft Room to lay out my design.

Once everything was cut I added glittery orange flocking powder to the wing.  I then covered the beak, eye, and accent on the cape with glossy accents.  I also added a button to the accent on the cape.  The sentiment was created using some stamps from Scrappy Moms Stamps.  The "birthday wishes" part is from the Simple Sentiments set.  "Super" was created, with some careful masking, from the word "Surprise" from the Hooray for Birthdays set.  And this is where I wished I had thought of using "bird-day" instead of birthday.  Ah well, such is life.

I have been wanting to make a card using this cute little superhero bird for a while and the current challenge at My Craft Spot was the perfect reason.  The challenge is "just for little boys."

Baseball Shape Card

Here is one for all you baseball fans out there:

This shaped card is 9"x3 1/2" when all assembled.  I used Cricut Craft Room to weld the shadow images of the bat, mitt, and baseball together.  All three of these images came from the "Baseball" cartridge, a Solutions cartridge.

I used a stamp from Scrappy Moms Stamps for my sentiment.  It is from the Game Day set.

Hip-Hippo Hooray!

How cute is this hippo though?!  I love how it turned out!

The card is about 8 1/2"x4 3/4" (just a little bit smaller).  I used Cricut Craft Room to design this using "Wild Card" for the shaped base, "ZooBalloo" for the hippo, "George and Basic Shapes" for the stars, and "Just a Note" for the sentiment.

The card base, is on page 53 of the "Wild Card" handbook.  I cut it from the light purple card stock, then cut a piece of white card stock at 8"x3" to put behind the open space of the word bubble.  I rounded the corners of the white piece and embossed it with the a Darice Embossing folder called Assorted Stars.

The stars are all from "George and Basic Shapes," page 115 of the handbook.  The three largest are 2," 1 1/2," & 1 1/4."  The smallest one is 3/8," sized that way so that it would fit in the letter "a" of the sentiment.  The sentiment can be found on page 58 of the "Just a Note" handbook.  It was cut at 2."

The stars and sentiment were adhered right to the card base.  Since I adhered everything down before remembering that I wanted to stamp a sentiment around the edge I masked off the stars, then did my stamping.  The stamp is from Scrappy Moms Stamps, the Furry Friends set.

The hippo is on page 89 of the "ZooBalloo" handbook.  It was cut at 3 1/2."  I used the hide contour feature in Cricut Craft Room to hide the eyes and stamped on some Peachy Keen ones.  They are from the Sweet and Silly Face Assortment.  I used a white gel pen to accent the eyes and grey gel pen to add a little detail to the hippo's chin.  I adhered the hippo with foam tape.  I used yellow Stickles on the edges of the stars (and the whole star for the smallest one) and covered the hippo's eyes and nostrils with diamond glaze.

I made this for the following challenges:
Fantabulous Cricut: use the colors purple, yellow, & grey
My Sheri Crafts: use at least two stars
My Craft Spot: shaped cards

Ni

I was sitting on my couch today really wanting to make something, but I just didn't have any inspiration.  I have been wanting to add some vinyl to my phone case and my iPad for a while now, but haven't come up with the perfect idea yet, so I started browsing my Cricut cartridges to see if something jumped out.  Well, something jumped out all right, but not for either of those things...it just screamed, "put me on a shirt!"  I couldn't argue, so here it is.

My father introduced me to Monty Python and I have loved it ever since.  I own the whole "Flying Circus" and of course "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," and have watched them numerous times.  I came across the chessmen in "Brooklyn Iron-On" and that is what spurred this idea onward.  I did not actually use the knight from "Brooklyn Iron-On," I actually liked the one on "Chess Set" better ("Chess Set" is a digital cartridge).

The knight is just over 4" tall.  The word bubble is from "George and Basic Shapes," and is 2."  I used "Base Camp" for the word "NI," and sized it to fit in the bubble.  When it is all put together it is a little short of being 6" tall and 4" wide.

I'm Not Lion

I have been so busy lately.  I have gotten all the blocks for my quilt cut out and I laid them all out so that I could see how it would look.  I quite like it and can't wait until I get it all pieced together and finished.  We also finished remodeling the room in our basement that has now become my new craft room.  I even get a window now!  It was carpeted last Friday and I spent this past week moving my stuff in to the room.  This is the first chance I have had to actually use it since I moved the last of my stuff in on Thursday night.  So, this is the first card I have made in my new room.

This is a shaped card that is about 5 1/2"x4" when folded.  I used "Wild Card 2" to create this card.  This particular card can be found on page 48 of the handbook.  I added flocking to the mane and tail for a little texture.

The font is from "Carousel."  It was cut at 1."  I used foam tape to adhere it to the card.  I also used Cricut Craft Room to hide the inner contours of the orange layer so that it would cut as one solid piece.

I used a stamp from Scrappy Moms Stamps for the sentiment.  It is from the "Little Critters" set.

I made this for the following challenges:
BBTB2: Father's Day
Fantabulous Cricut: Father's Day
The Friday Mashup: Father's Day project, or for a special guy
{PIN}spirational Challenges: photo inspiration (I was inspired by the theme, so I made a Father's Day card)

Beep Beep

Here is today's card, perfect for a little boy!

The card is 5" round.  I used the "Wild Card" cartridge for the card base, and the circle mats.  The card base I used can be found on page 48 of the handbook.  I just used Cricut Craft Room to hide the circle cut-out in the middle of the card.  I then used the liner feature for that same cut and hid the interior cut again to create my striped mat, it was cut at 4 3/4."

The car is from the "Beep Beep" cartridge.  I cut it at 3."  I used Cricut Craft Room to hide the smile that would have been cut out of the red layer, just above the bumper.  I added some googly eyes to the windshield and adhered it to the card on an action wobble, so it wiggles around.

The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps, the "Dancing in Circles" set.  I cut out a 1 1/4" circle and stamped the sentiment with rich cocoa ink by Tsukineko.  I added a red button to the middle of the sentiment to finish off the outside of the card.

The inside has the same size striped mat as the outside (4 3/4").  I also cut another circle out of cream, this one at 3 1/2."  I then used a stamp from Paper Smooches for my interior sentiment.  It is from the "Birthday Sampler" set and is also stamped in the rich cocoa ink.  I also trimmed the bottom edge of the  inside of the card so that it would stand upright.

I made this card for the following challenges:
BBTB2: car
My Sheri Crafts: masculine
The Friday Mashup: project with a movable element and stripes
{PIN}spirational Challenges: photo inspiration (I was inspired by the colors of the truck and the child in it - hence why I made a card for little boy)

Mushroom Shaped Card

The card I created today is shaped like a mushroom.

Isn't is fun?

I used Cricut Craft Room and the digital cartridge "Gnomes and Mushrooms" to create this adorable shaped card.  The mushroom is cut at 5" and the gnome at 3."  I welded the shadow of the gnome to the shadow of the mushroom and cut two of them, adhering them at the top to create my card base.

The gnome is adhered to the card with foam tape.  She also has a Peachy Keen face.  It is from the Sweet & Silly Face Assortment.  I hid all her facial features using Cricut Craft Room so that I could give her this cute stamped face.  The thought bubble is from the Silhouette Store, and is by Silhouette (#2956).  I sized it to fit my sentiment.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches, the "Salutations" set.

I made this for the following challenges:
Scrappy Moms Stamps: summer project
Exploring Cricut & More: summer project using colors red and blue
Paper Smooches Sparks: anything goes
Peachy Keen: photo/color inspiration (I used the colors red, blue, and yellow)
