Welcome!

YES! You are the right page! I just have a new name! :) After realizing that I do more than just scrapbooking, I've decided to change the name and will be changing the look.. I'd do a whole new blog but I'd hate to have to start all over.
Here you will find scrapbooking ideas. There's a ton of older posts that used the Cricut, but lately I haven't been using it much and well, my sewing machine is gaining more miles by the day.

Halloween....

Is just around the corner!! And ya know what that means... Fun Halloween Display at the store!
So... on Monday, I was asked by the Hardware Manager to recut the letters that I did last year. Last year they used glue to hang them up, and well, they didn't survive the tear down :( So.. this year I got smart, and laminated them. He also requested a Ray that was about this *holding hands up in the air* tall. For those that don't know, I work for Menards, and our "Spokesman" so to speak is Ray, The Menards Guy. So... I grabbed some signstock from work that matched the Lemex SPOOKY TOWN lettering perfectly, and took it home, and with SCAL I was able to create 2 fun Rays, and the lettering.

Originally, this was suppose to go down one of the aisle above the Spooky Town Village, hanging from the shelves. However... when Nick (The Hardware Manager) saw the Rays that I made.. he said that they deserved to be in the MAIN AISLE cuz they were "so damn good"

This picture (well.. not the exact one I guess.. the one I used had feet) is what my "template" was last year when I made Ray for Christmas... HERE IS a link to my Original RAY and CHRISMTAS RAY (Which, Christmas Ray will be redone for the Christmas display this year.. bigger and made in to Santa Ray... too bad he never had a girlfriend lol for Mrs Claus :)
The Font is POST CRYPT , which can be found FREE on many different font sites. Do you see Ray?? The letters were cut at 10 1/3 x 4 1/2. Then Laminated. I then punched holes into them, and used Ornament hooks through the holes. The Hardware Department used a Staple gun to attach to the Lattice fence piece (which is covered by the black fabric) and then the ornament hooks were bent around the staples The overall aisle is about 7-8 feet wide.
Here is "Franken-Ray" up close....
I did use PPDU for the hair, otherwise, everything else was cut from SCAL
And here is "Dra -Ray -cula"
Hair and Cape from PPDU, you can't tell at all but the cape has a seam right through the middle. Since his body covers it, it looks like ONE piece :) I believe the bottom of the cape from left to right measure like 15 inches, and height of cape is 11 inches (I just have 12x12 mats for my cricut) Hard to see in the picture, but on his shirt where the collar is turned, I used brads to hold it back.
So, there is the Mason City Menards' Main Aisle Halloween Display for the year! I hope you enjoyed looking at it as much as I had making the pieces for it! Tomorrow's the "BIG" day.. ya see, the Main Store Manager had the day off today... so.. I'm hoping that he will like this display as much as the rest of the Team! And then again Tuesday... when peeps from the General Office make their weekly visit..
(I think RAY would approve!)

Baaa... Sheep!

I had a blank wall at work, and well, it needed something to "spruce" it up a bit.
There used to be a headboard for a bed here, but we sold it, leaving it pretty much bare.
We sell Serta Mattresses at work, and they are made 10 miles down the road from the store, so what better than to put a few Sheep?

SVG for sheep can be found at Beanie's Tag Your It Blog

Menards and the Cricut!

It's been about a month now, but I finally got around to taking pictures of this. My boss asked me to help with the Christmas Village Display, and wanted something that no one would have. I did the Halloween Display (I've got a picture, but it's black and white... will try to post later!) of the Spooky Town Village, so they knew that I could do something cool for Christmas. The Hardware Manager in charge wanted it to read "Happy Holidays from Menards" and then I came up with Christmas Ray at the end.
The letters are cut at 11 inches with asxmasballs font, backed with white paper, and then I used Diamond Dust to fill in the white. The pictures don't show it, but the letters do twinkle :)

Ray was also cut at 11 inches high, and since I have just the baby bug, the base of him is in 2 pieces and seamed together. I think he's about 11x11 give or take a little.

I also used stickles around the edge of the ornaments. The letters are hung with wire ornament hangers.

The store manager along with the General Office love our display! I lost count on how many times the store manager told me that it looked awesome :)

Thanks for looking!

Where I work!

Some have asked in the past on where I work, so I thought that I would share with everyone My "Office"
I am an Assisstant Cabinets and Appliances Manager at Menards. I have been with the company since August of 2003.

Here is Kitchen #1, also know as the Medallion Kitchen. Medallion Cabinets are manufactured in Waconia, MN (Almost down the road from Valley Fair!) I am in the process of repainting the walls, so I will post a new picture once they are painted! It will be a green color. (Something Sage. I remember the sage part... lol)

Kitchen #1 Medallion
This is Kitchen #2, also known as the Schrock Kitchen.
We are #2 in our region for Schrock cabinets (Marion IA just just pennies above us), and we have recieved GOLD awards for the last 6 years! (you can see 4 of them underneath the white cabinets on the far left side) Bob, our rep is AWESOME!

Kitchen #2 Schrock

Here are 2 more Medallion pieces - both Hutches. I am painting these walls too, and will post a new picture when they are done.
The one on the left will be painted a dark brown, and the one on the right will be a red.
(unfortunetly, colors weren't my choice LOL)

Kitchen 3 & 4 Medallion
Here is a blury picture of the "Main" aisle. The pretty Whirlpool Cabrio's are there in front of the big beam, and to the left of them are Whirlpool Duet Sports. And you can't really see it good, but after the Sports is a Maytag Gemini

Main Aisle - Washer
And... This is where I sleep LOL, somedays I would really like to take a nap! These Serta Mattresses are temping and usually calling my name late at night.
The best part about these? They are made just 9 miles down the road from the store, right in Clear Lake IA! (ya know.. Where Buddy Holly last played before his plane crash...)

Mattresses
Well, I hope that you enjoyed your 'tour'. I have many other things in the department, but these are the bigger items. There's Vacuums and Ready to assemble cabinets, and small appliances too. Thanks for stopping by!
