She's gone back....

.....and I'm not the only one who hates to see her go!

Boo' doggie senses come into play about an hour before she's due to go, and she totally refuses to even LOOK at DD!

After a weekend of hardly leaving her side, Boo goes 'in the huff' and withdraws her affection...it's really funny to see! By the time we are ready to walk out the door DD is BEGGING her for hugs, but Boo is still playing hard to get!

We had a lovely weekend...very lazy relaxing and I'll share some pics of that later.

Hope all's good where you are.

Thanks for dropping by!

My Weekend....

...... has been spent nursing a sick doggy...which, I have to say has been as worrying and tiring as looking after a sick child!

She started making choking noises (as if something was stuck in her throat) on Friday, and by that night was coughing up white, foamy phlegm. She was like that on and off all night, but didn't seem quite so bad during the day on Saturday, though I spent a fair part of my day looking at dog's coughing on You Tube trying to work out what might be wrong. By Saturday night though, I knew it was time to call the vet, being fairly sure (from my earlier browsing) that she had Kennel Cough.- even though she's never set foot in Kennels.

Even though it was after 7 o'clock on a Saturday night, he said he would come out to the surgery and meet me there...he is a lovely man, and never refuses to see a sick animal. He confirmed  Kennel Cough (we think she came into contact with it while being groomed the week before) and gave her an injection of an anti-inflammatory drug and an antibiotic.

We had a much better night, and by later on Sunday she was obviously more comfortable, but needing to catch up on her sleep!

Today we have been back to the vet, and had another antibiotic injection. She's certainly on the mend......

......though she has to have one more injection on Wednesday.

Hope your weekend was a bit less worrying.

THANKFUL....

......that I have not had to drive to Valencia this morning, in the horrendous rain we're having!

To explain......
When DD comes down from Barcelona, she gets the bus to (and from) Valencia, which is about an hour and a bit's drive north from here. As she would then have to get on another bus, which would take another two hours to get to a town which is about a 40min drive from here, it makes sense for me to pick her up (and drop her off) in Valencia.
I picked her up no problem on Friday night, and we had a weekend of watching Christmas DVDs and playing Christmas music- as well as the X Factor of course! Her cold wasn't too bad..all she needed was a couple of nights in her own bed and some TLC. I did have the interesting experience of watching her being 'hit on'  by a guy in the place we had lunch on Saturday. She fended him off in polite and perfect Spanish (well it seemed polite from where I was sitting!)...it was good to know she can look after herself.
She had decided she was going back to Barcelona on Sunday evening, as she had a hot date with a Karaoke Night, so off we headed back to Valencia in plenty of time for the 6pm bus, only to discover that all the Barcelona buses has been cancelled since lunchtime! There was no explanation, just the advice to try the train station. By the time we had worked out how to get there, and navigated the streets of Valencia (in the dark) we arrived to discover the train which was due to leave was full (of course it was) and thought about just coming home and we would go up again today. The call of Karaoke was strong though, and DD decided to wait for the next train at 7.45 so, after having a cup  of coffee with her, I left her reading 'Wuthering Heights' (again!) and headed home.

I was only home about half an hour when the rain started, followed by a thunder storm which lasted until about 4 o'clock this morning! Poor Boo was petrified and cried most of the night...she just didn't settle at all, which means neither did I! Of course, she is now lying beside me like this

and has been for the last two hours, while I've  swept and dusted round about her!

So, between the weather and not having had much sleep, I am thankful that I am not having to drive to Valencia today ( and also for the fact that DD texted me at 2.15 this morning to tell me that she was actually home..and that Karaoke had been brill!)!

Thanks for dropping by!
