4x6 Photo Love...July

Much as I love living where I do in Spain, I wouldn't want to live by the coast, yet I loved living by the coast in the UK.

When I was in Whitley Bay in August, it occurred to me how different the British 'seaside' is to the Spanish 'Costas'...and not just the weather!
Where else do you get promenades (and roundabouts) decorated with such wonderful floral displays (I DO miss English flower gardens), get such rugged, atmospheric coastline and, of course, the great British Tearoom to shelter from whatever the weather throws at you!

I decided to use the photographs I had taken, while walking from Whitley Bay to Tynemouth for Shimelle's 4x6 Photo Love for July...and used the above for my journalling

Hope you're having a good weekend, whatever you're up to. It's trying hard to rain here...we've had a couple of showers, but not enough to quench the poor, parched earth.

4x6 Photo Love

When I saw  Shimelle's  six- photo- challenge this month, I knew I wanted to use the photographs I shared in this post (the one about my dad on the horse).

Of course, my photographs were landscape and Shimelles were portrait, and I wasn't at all sure how the LO would turn out...but it's not too bad- I wouldn't say it's one of my favourites ever, but I think that may be down to my choices of paper, rather than the sketch.

I have shown the two pages separately , just for a bit of detail.

Sorry about the 'blobs' on the photos...I believe it was rain on the camera lens!

Today was Weight Watchers again.....and I lost 2LBS! After the measly amounts I've lost the last couple of weeks, that was really good news! I reckon it's down to eating salads (I can't even begin to think of cooking in this heat!) and hours in the pool( the only way I can stay cool!)

4x6 Photo Love- April LO

Yes, I do know that it's the last day of May..and that I have therefore missed the deadline for entering my LO into the draw, for  Shimelle's '4x6 Photo Love' class over at TWO PEAS IN A BUCKET .

However, I thought I would share it here.....and mention that Shimelle's video instructions are so  good, it takes no time at all ( once you have decided on which pics to use...always the longest part of the process for me!) to put the LOs together!

I used photographs of our 2009 visit to NYC, for our friend ELF's 50th Birthday

The broad strip at the bottom, is Crate Paper (Paper Doll  Collection-Lizzie), the borders are Bo Bunny (Vicki B) and the for the flap I've used Bo Bunny (Ad Lib) papers and embellishments.

The Alphas are 'Thickers" and I used a 'lacing brad' from my stash as the opener for the flap.

I would also like to mention that on Shimelle's Blog today, she is donating 100% of her class sales to Plan UK's  BECAUSE I AM A GIRL CAMPAIGN . It's a great cause, and you can't go wrong with one of Shimelle's classes! I've signed up for 'LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY'..why don't you have a look at what's on offer?

Thanks for dropping by!
Take care of you

U.S. Trip 2008

After reading  Mel's post on her upcoming trip to LA, I started thinking about my own trips to the USA and remembered that I had started to make an album of a trip we made in 2008.

DH had just been made redundant, and had six weeks 'vacation'  between finishing up and starting his new job. We both love to travel, and DH had always had a hankering to do some driving through America; we reckoned we wouldn't have this opportunity again for quite some time, and decided to plan a trip!

We decided that we would like to use our trip to catch up with friends and colleagues we hadn't seen for some years, and that led us to plan our trip round the south west corner of the States. I LOVE planning trips, so was in my element checking hotels and private homes where we could stay during each stop on our itinerary.

Eventually , we set off...flying from London to San Francisco. Our first stop was San Jose, where the HQ of the Company that DH had worked for was based. He had a few things to finalise there, and it gave him a chance to say goodbye to people he had worked with for a few years.

We stayed in a hotel we had stayed at on previous visits -and which is a particular favourite of mine.

I'll continue this travel tale in other posts, especially now I've got the album back out and intend to try and get it completed!

This will be the first LO in my album

I used Shimelle's sketch from her 4x6 Photo Love class. I also used it for a challenge over at Scrap-friendzy, where you had to use something musical on your page( my title is a song-title...have some of you 'young ones' even heard of THE MAMAS &THE PAPAS?)
