Doris Roberts. For once the social commentary aspects are obvious and clunky. Both storylines seem self-conscious, in an effort to ‘say’ something. And the jokes are cheap and obvious. 6/10

Barney Miller 3.14
Despite a storyline with genuine dramatic potential, and the return of (my favourite character) Dietrich this is a ho-hum episode. For once, the squadroom setting works against the case-of-the-week, and and it doesn’t really make sense for the detectives to bring the worried husband back to the precinct. The Wojo storyline rings false, which is a shame. It had potential. 6/10

Ralph Manza . More drama than comedy, and really good drama, at that. Ending is wonderful. Completely unexpected and heartwarming, after such a serious episode. The Yemana/Harris b-plot is funny and has a very clever ending. 10/10
