There we go, actual content! The first pack, at long last, is finished, painted, varnished and based! After a long while, fresh pictures! Also, it seems I don't have witty post titles for Wolves. Damned Relic not featuring them in Dawn of War. *cough*
First off, a group shot. Not the best, I realise. Other shots are better. I actually found a way to do those pictures a bit better I think, reduced the way the camera lights them up so much. One picture is slightly too dark I guess, but still everything is perfectly visible. It seems to be a bit more of an issue with Wolves, due to their light armor.
Obviously there's more shots, just click below, as usual!
The first two, He-man and the Melta-man! I like them both quite a bit, though the tattoo on the He-man could've been better (it also isn't really visible in the photo...). He was also painted after slightly too long break, I think it does show in some parts...
The next two. The guy on the left is one I like the least. I somehow feel like I totally screwed up his face, but in the end and in the squad he doesn't look _that_ bad. The right one I actually like a lot, with the highlighting on the helmet.
The next two, left one that you've seen before as the first Wolf painted, and the right one which is the model with Mark of the Wulfen. Quite a bloody model. I found a neat way to paint blood. Might explain it in some future post, though I'd like to expand it myself first and that'll take a few experiments.
And the last two. The left one being a "Pack Leader" (purely a fluff concept, no such thing in rules). I like how the gold turned out on the er... winged...skull...on a stick.. backpack thing. The blood on the right chainsword is painted a bit differently and I think it doesn't look as convincing, but it isn't too bad either I guess.
Now a few closeups on things I found to be interesting. There might be more of those, but oh well. First, my favourite face. Maybe not the best one (they turned out quite evenly decent, of which I'm happy), but I like that tattoo design I stole from Morrowind a lot. I'll more than likely reused it later somewhere, though surely altered slightly.
The best freehand company logo I managed... Which is also the first I made, duh! And yes, the shot is quite ruined by that reflection..
Finally more blood for the... er, Allfather, obviously. After all when his chainsword got so messy, there's no way other bits didn't. Also the chainsword grip looks really nasty... So the Wulfen fella actually got the same idea I did when I first saw it!
Lastly the Wolf Guard! The glowing eyes on the Thunderhammer I wasn't really too sure about, they were hit or miss... and they turned out as an inaccurate hit, I think. Do let me know what you think, but I probably won't repeat that experiment again.
He also knows how to use that Hammer, it's surely not sparkly new.
Aaand that's it for pictures! As usualy I would love to hear your comments. Also, if you have any ideas or perhaps know Nordic mythology and culture so well you know about interesting things (mainly related to fire) that could be used (symbols and such mostly, I've got the names and read up a bit of "dry" descriptions) or serve as inspiration I would really appreciate the help.
Now I just have to come up with names for every Wolf or at least the Wolf Guard. Oh well, Warhammer Fantasy RPG supplement with a table of Norse names is certainly going to help!
As for other things, I'm working on a Vostroyan commision right now, being about 25% done, hopefuly will get more done this week. Also, I finally got the Wolf vehicles, so no longer must the Wolves borrow Chimeras from the 42nd Cadian regiment to ride into battle! I'm in the process of wolf-ifying them, will post up shots when it's done! The Long Fang pack is also put together now, expect some shots soon!

Phew, finally got some sleep and can write a report on the tournament. For a first time in a long while a polish version of this post is also available - just click the flag! More, if you are a polish reader, read that one as it's slightly enhanced!
The tournament had a simple ruleset. 2100, special characters and IA units (with some exception -flyers, gargantuan creatures and the silly Deathstorm and Lucius Drop Pods) allowed. In each battle both players would roll 2d6 to pick their objective for the game. Everyone plays three battles, each with different rulebook deployment.

Battle 1 - El Che - Space Marines
My objective: Recon - each scoring unit in opponent's deployment zone is worth 500 VPs
Opponent's objective: Take & Hold - each scoring unit within 12" of the table center is worth 500 VPs
Deployment: Dawn of War
My opponent fielded a lovely Space Marine army - Vulkan He'stan, 3x5 TH/SS Termies, a single Tactical with a Razorback, 2 5-man Scout squads(one with sniper rifles, the other with a combi-melta), 2 MM Attack Bikes, a Speeder Storm and 3 Land Raider Redeemers.
I won the roll to start the game and started with deploying just two infantry squads. My opponent did not deploy anything, so in our respective turns everything rolled onto the table. All his transports popped Smokes and waited for the turn of heavy shooting. When I saw 3 Redeemers trodding my way I was a little discouraged. Getting them down certainly won't be an easy feat. Luckily the Manticore did not fail me. Over the course of the game it blew one of them up and immobilised the two other. Razorback vanished rather fast too, just as the Attack Bikes, that managed to pop the Banewolf first however. The Scouts in storm rushed forward eliminating a Vendetta and then getting some heavy pounding, unfortunately surviving it however. The game was looking good, till the termies finally reached my and started obliterating my units one by one. There was a highlight, when 2 terminators got smacked with the butts of the lasguns before they could even react and when Vulkan ate a melta to the face, however there wasn't a lot of me left in the end.
I made a huge mistake however, that cost me the game. To the very end I was sure that my opponent's deployment zone means his half of the table, since it is Dawn of War after all. Turns out it was in fact the area 12" from his table edge. I learned of it way too late unfortunately and just could not reach that area. To make matters even worse, my enemy managed to bring all of his scoring units into the middle, scoring a lots of points. The TH/SS termies also reaped a lot, netting my enemy 3 additional points for destroying 75% of my models.
Not a good start, could've been way better if I played a few things differently. TH/SS termies are almost unkillable. I also should've focused my forces on one side and just rush forward. If I would manage to get past his Land Raiders within the transports there was little with which he would be able to get my units off his deployment zone. But well - I kept thinking it's the half. A lesson for the future - make sure you know the rules!
Result: 3-20
Battle 2 - Grom - Orks
My objective: Cleanse - control the table quarters, they are controlled by scoring units and contested by anything within them. Own quarter worth 300 VPs, side ones 600 and the enemy's is 1200 VPs.
Opponent's objective: Seize Ground - 5 counters to control, 550 VPs each
Deployment: Spearhead
And so I hit upon one of our own crew. Although I didn't get a chance to play with Grom yet. He fielded 3 Trukks full of Boyz one having a Warboss inside, another Warboss on a bike with a bunch of Nob Bikers, 2 Looted Wagons, 2 Warbuggies and 30 foot-trodding Shootas, 2x6 Lootas and some Grots, as well as 2 Deff Koptas with Rokkits and those Saw things.
I managed to win the starting roll again and my opponent decided to hold off most the things in reserves. For him to rid me of my objective all he needed was a single unit on a table quarter... I'm really not a fan of this mission.
The game one pretty on sided it turned out. My guns shot and shot and there were less and less Orks every turn. His reserves turned up earlier than he wanted, even though I had an OoF and were picked off. The biggest highlight has to be the Manticore shooting his Shootas and annihilating 24 (!) in a single shot. The remaining 6 decided it's not worth it and promptly fled the battlefield. I would've fled too! The Boyz came in too fast and didn't have much luck, popping some Chimeras open but the getting annihilated with massed fire. I made one mistake and gave my opponent an easy kill - one my Vendettas. I really shouldn't have rerolled that outflank result - it could've really saved me in the end of the
The end wasn't so easy however. Since I started, Grom had the last turn. And he sure used it well. His Bike Warboss managed to hide through the battle - the final shot from the Manticore missed him altogether. In the last turn he turbo-boosted contesting on quarter. A single Nob BIker survivor rushed to control an objective. Last surviving boyz tried to contest another but luckily rolled to little for run and did not manage to enter it. We rolled to check if there would be a 7th turn (5+) and unfortunately for me there wasn't. And thus, my opponent turned a solid victory into a draw, well played!
However I'm also in the opinion the Cleanse mission wasn't too well thought out. It was just way too easy to contest a quarter and since both players have different objectives it puts the Cleanse playing person somewhat behind. This opinion is further reinforced by the next battle.
Result: 13-10
Battle 3 - Sokles - Orks
My objective: Take & Hold - each scoring unit within 12" of the table center is worth 500 VPs
Opponent's objective: Cleanse - control the table quarters, they are controlled by scoring units and contested by anything within them. Own quarter worth 300 VPs, side ones 600 and the enemy's is 1200 VPs.
Deployment: Pitched Battle
A very nice battle and a very nice opponent, a pleasure of a battle. He fielded two 10-man strong Nobz units with a Warboss each in Battlewagons, 2 Deff Koptas, 2 big mobs of Shootas (can't remember exactly how strong they were 20+ however), 2 smaller (i think 16 strong) mobs and 2 Tankbustas units, riding in the Shootas' trucks.
First time I haven't got the first turn and failed to win the initiative. The game started off quite hot. The Deffkoptas rushed forward with the scout move and first turn movement - blew up the Banewolf and crunched through an infantry squad.. and got stuck in combat very very close to the Manticore! The Battlewagons rushed forth and Tankbustas stood in the back. The big Shoota mobs were in reserves, while smaller ones hid somewhere behind as well. I managed to shoot the Manticore ones blowing up a Battlewagon and with the rest of fire - crippled the other one. A single Trukk exploded as well. Then the Assault phase came and the Deffkopta managed to defeat the infantry squad and consolidate straight at the back of my Manticore... Uh oh.
In the next turn one squad of Nobz reached my lines (The other got stuck in the back - Pinned by the destruction of their Wagon - a lifesaver for me) and the Deffkopta slowly but surely headed towards the Manticore... Truly the Emperor looked upon me that moment! The Big Shoota failed to do any damage and when the Deffkopta assaulted the immobile Manticore even though it had autohits all it managed was to Stun it! The Nobz started to reap a bloody tally in my infantry squads however and there were a bit too many Rokkits flying around for my taste. Also Shoota Boyz came out and started harassing the Chimeras with their Big Shootas. When my turn came the tables turned a bit however. Thanks to the luck with Manticore I was able to neutralise the Deff Kopta (which actually wasn't that easy. The only unit initially in range and los to it was the Demolisher.. and it really wouldn't be smart to shoot the Deff Kopta with that, when it's base-to-base with my Manticore!) with the lucky arrival of a Vendetta. The Nobz were picked off but the hail of fire and thanks to the Psykers - fled the field. The other Nobz were finally killed too, by enough Demolisher fire.
The veterans started making their way to the middle. They never reached it however- too much fire on the Chimeras and some failed Ld checks. Luckily enough enough Troops managed to get to the middle in time. One of the Vendettas failed its mission, being destroyed and having its SWS Pinned, but in the end two of my scoring units managed to be in range. In the last turn a Vendetta rushed towards the only uncontested quarter and easily stole further points from my opponent - silly, silly Cleanse.
Result: 14-6
Best Unit: Manticore. No doubt it really is a powerful toy giving a lot every battle. Probably even a bit too powerful for its point cost.
Worst Unit: Banewolf. Did absolutely nothing in each game, except for firing it's Heavy Bolter once. Wow. It either got killed fast or just wasn't where the action was even with its 18" movement.
In the end I ended up 16th out of 35 players. Not bad for the first tournament ever I guess! I learned quite a lot during those battles and will know how to play on the next one! I really had lots and lots of fun however, so that surely wasn't my last tournament.
Unfortunately my camera got lost and I took no pictures, even though I played some really nice armies and there were many more impressive ones out there. Someone did take photos however, so if I get the hold of them I'll be sure to post!

Bitwa 1 - El Che - Space Marines
Deployment: Dawn of War
Mój przeciwnik wystawił dość straszną armię SMów, na widok której trochę pokiwałem głową - Vulkan He'stan, 3x5 kowali, tacticale w Razorbacku, 2 5-man Scoutów (snajperzy i zwykli z combi-meltą), 2 AB z multi-meltami, Speeder Storm i 3 Land Raidery Redeemer.
Wystawił 3 Trukki Boyzów - jednych z Warbaossem, kolejnego Warbossa na Biku z paroma Motonobami, 2 Looted Wagony, 2 Warbuggiesy, 30 Shootasów, 2x6 Lootasów, trochę Grotów i 2 Deffkopty.
Znów udało mi się zacząć, a Grom zdecydował pozostawić większość sił w rezerwach. By pozbawić mnie ćwiartki wystarczyło aby cokolwiek wjechało na nie. Ta misja zdecydowanie była bez sensu moim zdaniem.
Gra była trochę jednostronna jak się okazało. Moje działa strzelały a orki parowały.
Wynik: 13-10
Bitwa 3 - Sokles - Orks
Mój cel: Take & Hold
Cel przeciwnika: Cleanse
Deployment: Pitched Battle
Bardzo przyjemna bitwa i super przeciwnik. Wystawił dwie dziesiątki Nobów z Warbossami w Wagonach, 2 Deff Koptasy, 4 moby Shootasów (2 duże i 2 małe) i 2 oddziały Tankbustasów w Trukkach Shootasów.
Wtedy nadeszła faza assaultu, kopta jakimś cudem pogoniła squad... i stanęła sobie zaraz z tyłu Mantikory. Ups!
W następnej turze przeciwnika było jeszcze gorzej. Drugi Wagon dojechał i wypluł swoich Nobów. Strzały z placków to jednak niezbyt dobry pomysł gdy stoi ona przystawiona do drogocennej Mantikory!)
W ostatniej chwili Vendetta skontestowała jedyną ćwiartkę, którą mój przeciwnik trzymał (i to jeszcze fuksem - stała na dwóch ćwiartkach i rzutem kością zdecydowaliśmy którą kontestuje) i ukradła dodatkowe VPki Soklesowi. Ech, ten Cleanse.
Wynik: 14-6
Najlepsza jednostka: Mantikora.

Just a quick post to let you know, that the 42nd Cadian is not dead yet! I had a tough ending of a semester at my uni which left me with very little time to dabble with the blog, but it's all over now and a new wave of updates will commence shortly!
I've managed to get some free time and, for instance, the Grey Hunter pack you can see below, is more-or-less finished. I'm just looking up various ways of weathering now to apply (or not, if I change my mind) to the models. Pictures will come soon! From the other news I have finally ordered some fine rides for the Wolves! Expect a project log from those as I have a couple of conversion ideas in my head! Unfortunately, most weren't in stock, so I have to wait up to two weeks till delivery.
From the other things - I'm going to quite a big 40k tournament on Saturday - my first ever! I'll be sure to bring a full report with pictures included! Lastly, there is another Vostroyan commision coming soonish. And looking at the tournament list, it seems I have to finish up work on 303rd Vet Squad. Shotguns off Space Wolf Scouts are surely going to come in hand... And I need me one more Chimera, if I'll be able to afford one, the new kit looks quite interesting.
