The Gunboat scheme.
It will be remembered that we published, several days since, a letter from the venerable Edmund Ruffin, pledging himself for a contribution of $500 to the Gunboat Association. To-day it is our satisfaction to present a letter received from Edmund Ruffin, Jr. tenderes One thousand dollars for the same laudable purpose. Thus it will be seen that a disposition is clearly manifested that the important proposition of the gallant Colonel Duncan shall be carried out, and we have good reason to hope that the work will ere long be vigorously commenced. We append the letter, and trust that it may have its effect in arousing our citizens to the importance of carrying this project into effect.
