A report has reached here, which we believe perfectly reliable, that an engagement took place between the Confederate and Abolition forces on Monday between Corinth and Furdy, in towards the four-base river. Our information is that a cavalry force of the enemy, accompanied by a battery of six guns, sailed out from the river, when they were met by some of our cavalry who charged upon them when the Federals took to their heels, leaving their battery and a hundred horses-that fell into our hands.--Jackson (W.
