The Yankees in Moorefield.

--The Lynchburg Republican, of the 3d inst., says:

Private letters, under date of the 26th ult., from Moorefield, Hardy county, Va., to a gentleman in this city, inform us that the Yankees to the number of 800 took possession of Moorefield on Sunday, the 23d inst., without opposition, all the available force of Hardy county being absent with Gen. Jackson. They are depredating considerably upon the farmers in the vicinity, stealing cattle, sheep, flour, &c. They arrested many of the citizens of the town, among the great Messrs. Snodgrass, Kuykendall. Heiskell, William and D. Vanmeter, Wesley Wilson, and others, but afterwards released them on parole.--They searched the back, but were disappointed in their expected plunder, as the money, books and papers had been removed on Saturday night.
