National Cupcake and Birthday ATC Swap

Today is National Cupcake Day!  I love cupcakes, so today was a great day to share a cupcake ATC I created.  This month's ATC swap theme was Birthday!  If you know me, I HAD to make a card with a cupcake!
I used the stamp set Yummy and Delicious.  I stamped the outline of the liner in Dark Roast Ink.  I then stamped the liner with Beach Breeze ink.  (To get the lighter color, I first stamped the liner on a clear block and then stamped on the paper.   Why?  Because FSJ inks are a fusion between pigment and dye inks.  You are not able to do "second generation" stamping with them.  This is a way around that.)
I love the technique on the frosting.  Here is how I did it.  I inked up the frosting stamp with Watermelon Fusion ink.  Before stamping, I took the liner stamp and lightly moved over the stamp in a zig zag motion.  This gives the frosting the swirly effect.  Then, just stamp on the paper as usual.  Awesome right?  I thought so too!
Using Beach Breeze Cardstock and Yummy Prints Pattern Paper, I made the base of the ATC.  I then popped up the image.  The cherry on top was stamped with Dark RoastInk and then colored in with a Q-tip using Watermelon Fusion Ink.
I finished the card off by adding a clip (which we do not sell anymore) and a banner that says "Happy Birthday" from the Sentimental Prints Stamp Set.
Now, I think today calls for a cupcake!  Enjoy!

ATC Swap- Summer Outing

Today's ATC swap was Summer Outing and I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
My favorite summer outing when I was little, was when my grandparents would take my brother and I in their motor home to the beach for a week during the summer.  I saw this stamp and thought it looked just like the Winnebego my grandparents had.  I colored the bottom part of the motor home with Copics and added Journey Glaze to the windows to make them look like glass.
I have many great memories in and around this motor home.  Enjoy!

Awareness ATC Swap

Today, I participated in an ATC swap with the Awareness theme.  I chose to use the indigo colored ribbon and to bring awareness to bullying.
I teach students that have been bullied, so I feel like I need to make my friends aware of the bullying that is happening in our schools.  On the back of my ATC, I listed 4 facts about bullying that I found to be very interesting:
·       Bullying comes in different forms: physical, verbal, relational, sexual, cyber,  and prejudicial.
·       It is estimated that 160,000 children miss school every day due to fear of attack or intimidation by other students.
·       90% of 4th through 8th graders report being victims of bullying
·       54% of students said witnessing physical abuse at home can lead to violence in school.

April ATC Swap

This past Sunday, I had my ATC swap meetup group.  The theme was "Pets we Love".  I currently don't have any pets, so I chose to use the Fun Stampers Journey "Cats and Dogs".  I distressed the edges of the heart with Pomegranate Splash Ink and popped up with foam squares.  I put Journey Glaze on the eyes of the dog.  Enjoy!

Easter ATC Swap

This month's ATC swap was Easter.  I knew I wanted to use this bunny from Fun Stampers Journey ( AT-0053 Easter Bunny).
I used Fun Stampers Cardstock in Whip Cream and Oatmeal Cookie.  The jellybean pattern paper is Doodlebug Designs (One of my favorite paper companies).  I stamped the bunny in Hazelnut Blend Ink (IP-0012) and then colored the bunny with Copic E57 to make it look like a chocolate bunny.  The ribbon, I picked up many years ago, so I don't know exactly where that came from.  The flower is a paper flower.  Enjoy!

Presidents ATC Swap

This month's ATC swap was Presidents.   I wanted the other swappers to learn something about my president, so I did a search for interesting facts about presidents.  I found an interesting fact about Garfield, so I chose him as the president I would do.  Here is the card that I created.
Here is the interesting fact about Garfield.  He was the first president to talk on the phone to Alexander Graham Bell.  Isn't that cool. Enjoy!

Snowman ATC swap

This past Sunday, I demonstrated and brought snacks for my ATC group.  I chose the theme of snowmen, because I love snowmen.  In fact, I decorate my house for Christmas in all snowmen, so that I can leave my decorations up for months.  I love their cute little expressions and then just put a smile on your face.
So the project I created was a "Frosty" shaker card.
This is how I created him.

1. Attach the blue piece of Cardstock to the white base piece, aligning it in the middle.  Next, put foam tape around the outside of the blue Cardstock where the white border is.

2.  Next, go ahead and expose the top of the tape.  Attach "Frosty" ( Fun Stampers Journey ATS) to the left corner of the card.

3.  Go ahead and place some wet adhesive over the areas in the tape that "Frosty" covered.  When you are almost ready to put the acetate on, pour some of your favorite glitter and sequins on top of him.

4.  Place the acetate on top, making sure that all of the sides are attached.  Then place, the white border over the top with some more adhesive.  Your done!  Enjoy!

May ATC...First Letter of your name

It's time for ATC's again and this month we were to create a card picturing something  with the first letter of our name.  Since my name is Kim, K was the letter I had to use.  I thought of kiss, kangaroo.....and it stopped there.  Then I was talking to a friend and she said kite.  Yea kite!  So this was my card:
The picture is hard to see, but the saying says, "You send me soaring".  I loved it and it started with a K.

ATC for All About You

I am a part of an ATC group that meets once a month.  We design our cards around a theme that the host has picked in advance.  April was my month and I chose the theme, All about you.  I think it is fun to learn things about each other, so I chose this theme.  Here is the front of my card:
I chose the color black and pink because these are my signature colors together and also these are the color of my bedroom.  I put a piece of washi take with cupcakes on it because I love cupcakes.  I love to eat them as well as see them decorated.  The piano that I made out of punches is to represent my early piano days.  I started learning piano at the age of 6.  I can still play, but not as well as I use to.  The cross is to represent my faith in Jesus.  The red roses are to represent my favorite flower.
Here is a picture of the inside of my card:
(Sorry for the side view).  In the inside, you open up the black piece and there are dictionary paper inside to represent my love of reading.  At the top there is a snowboard because I learned to snowboard and have loved it ever since.  The iPad represents the school I work at and all the technology I use on a daily basis.  The leaf represents my favorite season of smells, food and weather.  The apple represents my passion for teaching.
I hope you enjoyed learning a little about me.
